1 Como ribeiros de águas assim é o coração do rei na mão do Senhor, que o inclina a todo o seu querer.2 Todo caminho do homem é reto aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor sonda os corações.3 Fazer justiça e juízo é mais aceitável ao Senhor do que sacrifício.4 Os olhos altivos, o coração orgulhoso e a lavoura dos ímpios é pecado.5 Os pensamentos do diligente tendem só para a abundância, porém os de todo apressado, tão somente para a pobreza.6 Trabalhar com língua falsa para ajuntar tesouros é vaidade que conduz aqueles que buscam a morte.7 As rapinas dos ímpios os destruirão, porquanto se recusam a fazer justiça.8 O caminho do homem é todo perverso e estranho, porém a obra do homem puro é reta.9 É melhor morar num canto de telhado do que ter como companheira em casa ampla uma mulher briguenta.10 A alma do ímpio deseja o mal; o seu próximo não agrada aos seus olhos.11 Quando o escarnecedor é castigado, o simples torna-se sábio; e o sábio quando é instruído recebe o conhecimento.12 O justo considera com prudência a casa do ímpio; mas Deus destrói os ímpios por causa dos seus males.13 O que tapa o seu ouvido ao clamor do pobre, ele mesmo também clamará e não será ouvido.14 O presente dado em segredo aplaca a ira, e a dádiva no regaço põe fim à maior indignação.15 O fazer justiça é alegria para o justo, mas destruição para os que praticam a iniquidade.16 O homem que anda desviado do caminho do entendimento, na congregação dos mortos repousará.17 O que ama os prazeres padecerá necessidade; o que ama o vinho e o azeite nunca enriquecerá.18 O resgate do justo é o ímpio; o do honrado é o perverso.19 É melhor morar numa terra deserta do que com a mulher rixosa e irritadiça.20 Tesouro desejável e azeite há na casa do sábio, mas o homem insensato os esgota.21 O que segue a justiça e a beneficência achará a vida, a justiça e a honra.22 O sábio escala a cidade do poderoso e derruba a força da sua confiança.23 O que guarda a sua boca e a sua língua guarda a sua alma das angústias.24 O soberbo e presumido, zombador é o seu nome, trata com indignação e soberba.25 O desejo do preguiçoso o mata, porque as suas mãos recusam trabalhar.26 O cobiçoso cobiça o dia todo, mas o justo dá, e nada retém.27 O sacrifício dos ímpios já é abominação; quanto mais oferecendo-o com má intenção!28 A falsa testemunha perecerá, porém o homem que dá ouvidos falará sempre.29 O homem ímpio endurece o seu rosto; mas o reto considera o seu caminho.30 Não há sabedoria, nem inteligência, nem conselho contra o Senhor.31 Prepara-se o cavalo para o dia da batalha, porém do Senhor vem a vitória.

1 Like brooks of water is a king’s heart in the hand of the Lord: whithersoever it pleaseth him doth he turn it.2 Every way of a man is straight in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the hearts.3 To exercise righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.4 Haughtiness of the eyes, and an immoderate heart, are the sinful field of the wicked.5 The plans of the diligent tend only to plenty; but every hasty man is destined only to want.6 The getting of treasures by a tongue of falsehood is like the fleeting breath of those that seek death.7 The robbery of the wicked will drag them away; because they refuse to execute justice.8 Perverse is the way of the man that is estranged from goodness; but as for the pure, his work is upright.9 It is better to dwell in a corner of a roof, than with a quarrelsome woman in a roomy house.10 The soul of the wicked longeth for evil: his neighbor findeth no grace in his eyes.11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is taught intelligence, he receiveth knowledge.12 The righteous regardeth attentively the house of the wicked; but God overturneth the wicked into unhappiness.13 Whoso stoppeth his ears against the cry of the poor, he also will cry himself, but shall not be answered.14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger, and a bribe in the bosom, strong fury.15 It is joy to the righteous to execute justice; but it is a terror to wrong–doers.16 The man that wandereth astray out of the way of intelligence shall rest in the assembly of the departed.17 He that loveth pleasure will be a man of want: he that loveth wine and oil will not become rich.18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the treacherous shall be put in the stead of the upright.19 It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a quarrelsome and vexatious woman.20 There are a desirable treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man will swallow it up.21 He that pursueth righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength in which they trusted.23 Whoso guardeth his mouth and his tongue guardeth his soul against distresses.24 The presumptuous and proud, scorner is his name, dealeth in the wrath of presumption.25 The longing of the slothful will kill him; for his hands refuse to labor.26 All the day he feeleth a great longing; but the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a sinful purpose?28 A lying witness shall perish; but the man that is obedient to the law can speak for ever.29 A wicked man showeth impudence in his face; but as for the upright, he will consider well his way.30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but with the Lord is the victory.
