Bevar mig, Gud! for jeg tar min tilflukt til dig. 2 Jeg sier til Herren: Du er min Herre; jeg har intet gode utenfor dig(-) 3 idet jeg holder mig til de hellige som er i landet, og de herlige i hvem jeg har all min lyst. 4 Mange sorger skal de ha som kjøper sig andre; {de. andre guder} jeg vil ikke utgyde deres {de. avgudenes.} drikkoffere av blod og ikke ta deres navn på mine leber. 5 Herren er min tilfalne del og mitt beger; du gjør min lodd herlig. 6 En lodd er tilfalt mig som er liflig, og en arv som behager mig. 7 Jeg vil love Herren, som gav mig råd; også om nettene minner mine nyrer mig om det.

8 Jeg setter alltid Herren for mig; for han er ved min høire hånd, jeg skal ikke rokkes.

9 Derfor gleder mitt hjerte sig, og min ære {de. sjel.} fryder sig; også mitt kjød skal bo i trygghet. 10 For du skal ikke overlate min sjel til dødsriket, du skal ikke la din hellige se forråtnelse. 11 Du skal kunngjøre mig livets vei; gledes fylde er for ditt åsyn, livsalighet ved din høire hånd evindelig.

2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.*16.4 hasten…: or, give gifts to another

5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.*16.5 of mine…: Heb. of my part

6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.*16.9 rest…: Heb. dwell confidently

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
