1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam was sick. 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and go to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who told me that I should be king over this people. 3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cakes, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he will tell thee what shall become of the lad. 4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. And Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age. 5 And Jehovah said to Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee about her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her; for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign to be another. 6 And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou to be another? But I am sent to thee with a hard message.

7 Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel, 8 and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do only that which is right in my sight; 9 but thou hast done evil above all that were before thee, and hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back: 10 therefore behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male, him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone. 11 Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat, and him that dieth in the field shall the fowl of the heavens eat; for Jehovah hath spoken. 12 And thou, arise, go to thine own house; when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die. 13 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and they shall bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. 14 And Jehovah shall raise up for himself a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day; and what? ...even now. 15 And Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their Asherahs, provoking Jehovah to anger. 16 And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, wherewith he has sinned, and made Israel to sin. 17 And Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah; when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died. 18 And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke through his servant Ahijah the prophet. 19 And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 20 And the days that Jeroboam reigned were twenty-two years; and he slept with his fathers. And Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

21 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there; and his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. 22 And Judah did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed more than all that their fathers had done. 23 And they also built for themselves high places, and columns, and Asherahs on every high hill and under every green tree; 24 and there were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed before the children of Israel. 25 And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. 26 And he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all; and he took away all the shields of gold that Solomon had made. 27 And king Rehoboam made in their stead brazen shields, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the couriers who kept the entrance of the king’s house. 28 And it was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Jehovah, the couriers bore them, and brought them again into the chamber of the couriers. 29 And the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days. 31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

Pentru ce vrei să te dai drept alta? Sunt însărcinat să-ți vestesc lucruri aspre. 7 Du-te și spune lui Ieroboam: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Te-am*2 Sam. 12:7,8. Cap. 16:2. ridicat din mijlocul poporului, te-am pus căpetenie peste poporul Meu Israel, 8 am*Cap. 11:31. rupt împărăția de la casa lui David și ți-am dat-o ție, și n-ai fost ca robul Meu David, care*Cap. 11:33,38;15:5. a păzit poruncile Mele și a umblat după Mine din toată inima lui, nefăcând decât ce este drept înaintea Mea. 9 Tu ai făcut*Cap. 12:28.2 Cron. 11:15. mai rău decât toți cei ce au fost înaintea ta: te-ai dus să-ți faci alți dumnezei și chipuri turnate, ca să Mă mânii, și M-ai lepădat*Neem. 9:26.Ps. 50:17.Ezec. 23:35. înapoia ta! 10 De aceea, voi trimite nenorocirea*Cap. 15:29. peste casa lui Ieroboam, voi nimici*Cap. 21:21.2 Împ. 9:8. pe oricine este al lui Ieroboam, fie rob*Deut. 32:36.2 Împ. 14:26., fie slobod în Israel, și voi mătura casa lui Ieroboam cum se mătură murdăriile, până va pieri. 11 Cel*Cap. 16:4;21:24. ce va muri în cetate din casa lui Ieroboam va fi mâncat de câini și cel ce va muri pe câmp va fi mâncat de păsările cerului.»’ Căci Domnul a vorbit. 12 Tu scoală-te și du-te acasă. Și, cum îți vor păși*Vers. 17. picioarele în cetate, copilul va muri. 13 Tot Israelul îl va plânge și-l va îngropa, căci el este singurul din casa lui Ieroboam care va fi pus într-un mormânt, pentru că este singurul*2 Cron. 12:12;19:3. din casa lui Ieroboam în care s-a găsit ceva bun înaintea Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. 14 Domnul va pune peste Israel un împărat*Cap. 15:27-29. care va nimici casa lui Ieroboam în ziua aceea. Și nu se întâmplă oare chiar acum lucrul acesta? 15 Domnul va lovi pe Israel, și Israel va fi ca trestia clătinată în ape; va smulge*2 Împ. 17:6.Ps. 52:5. pe Israel din această țară bună*Ios. 23:15,16. pe care o dăduse părinților lor și-i va împrăștia dincolo*2 Împ. 15:29. de râu, pentru că*Exod 34:13.Deut. 12:3,4. și-au făcut idoli, mâniind pe Domnul. 16 Va părăsi pe Israel, din pricina păcatelor*Cap. 12:30;13:34;15:30,34;16:2. pe care le-a făcut Ieroboam și în care a târât și pe Israel." 17 Nevasta lui Ieroboam s-a sculat și a plecat. A ajuns la Tirța*Cap. 16:6,8,15,23.Cânt. 6:4. și, cum*Vers. 12. a atins pragul casei, copilul a murit. 18 L-au îngropat, și tot Israelul l-a plâns, după cuvântul*Vers. 13. Domnului pe care-l spusese prin robul Său Ahia, prorocul.

19 Celelalte fapte ale lui Ieroboam, cum a făcut*2 Cron. 13:2. război și cum a domnit, sunt scrise în Cartea Cronicilor împăraților lui Israel. 20 Ieroboam a împărățit douăzeci și doi de ani, apoi a adormit cu părinții săi. Și în locul lui a împărățit fiul său Nadab.

21 Roboam, fiul lui Solomon, a împărățit peste Iuda. Avea patruzeci*2 Cron. 12:13. și unu de ani când s-a făcut împărat și a împărățit șaptesprezece ani la Ierusalim, cetatea*Cap. 11:36. pe care o alesese Domnul din toate semințiile lui Israel, ca să-Și pună Numele în ea. Mama sa se chema*Vers. 14. Naama, Amonita. 22 Iuda*2 Cron. 12:1. a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului și, prin păcatele pe care le-au săvârșit, I-au stârnit*Deut. 32:21.Ps. 78:58.1 Cor. 10:22. gelozia mai mult decât părinții lor. 23 Și-au zidit și ei înălțimi*Deut. 12:2.Ezec. 16:24,25. cu stâlpi închinați idolilor și astartee*2 Împ. 17:9,10. pe orice deal înalt și sub*Is. 57:5. orice copac verde. 24 Au fost chiar și sodomiți*Deut. 23:17. Cap. 15:12; 22:46.2 Împ. 23:7. în țară. Au făcut de toate urâciunile neamurilor pe care le izgonise Domnul dinaintea copiilor lui Israel. 25 În al cincilea an*Cap. 11:40.2 Cron. 12:2. al domniei lui Roboam, Șișac, împăratul Egiptului, s-a suit împotriva Ierusalimului. 26 A luat vistieriile*2 Cron. 12:9-11. Casei Domnului și vistieriile casei împăratului, a luat tot. A luat toate scuturile de aur pe care le făcuse*Cap. 10:17. Solomon. 27 Împăratul Roboam a făcut în locul lor niște scuturi de aramă și le-a dat în grija căpeteniilor alergătorilor, care păzeau intrarea casei împăratului. 28 Ori de câte ori se ducea împăratul la Casa Domnului, alergătorii le purtau, apoi le aduceau iarăși în odaia alergătorilor. 29 Celelalte*2 Cron. 12:15. fapte ale lui Roboam și tot ce a făcut el nu sunt scrise oare în Cartea Cronicilor împăraților lui Iuda? 30 Totdeauna a fost război*Cap. 12:24;15:6.2 Cron. 12:15. între Roboam și Ieroboam. 31 Roboam*2 Cron. 12:16. a adormit cu părinții lui și a fost îngropat cu părinții lui în cetatea lui David.
