1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion. 2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, that is, the seventh month. 3 And all the elders of Israel came; and the priests took up the ark. 4 And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent: the priests and the Levites brought them up. 5 And king Solomon, and all the assembly of Israel that were assembled to him, who were with him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be counted nor numbered for multitude. 6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to its place, into the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim; 7 for the cherubim stretched forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves above. 8 And the staves were long, so that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy place before the oracle, but they were not seen without. And there they are to this day. 9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses placed there at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. 10 And it came to pass when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah, 11 and the priests could not stand to do their service because of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of Jehovah.

12 Then said Solomon: Jehovah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. 13 I have indeed built a house of habitation for thee, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever. 14 And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and the whole congregation of Israel stood. 15 And he said: Blessed be Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, who spoke with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying, 16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; but I have chosen David to be over my people Israel. 17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house unto the name of Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel. 18 But Jehovah said to David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart; 19 nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name. 20 And Jehovah has performed his word which he spoke; and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and I have built the house unto the name of Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel. 21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

22 And Solomon stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of the whole congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward the heavens. 23 And he said, Jehovah, God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel! there is no God*GodHebrew: Elohim like thee, in the heavens above, or on the earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart; 24 who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him; thou spokest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as at this day. 25 And now, Jehovah, God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thy sons take heed to their way, to walk before me as thou hast walked before me. 26 And now, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, let thy words, I pray thee, be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David my father. 27 But will God*GodHebrew: Elohim indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens, and the heaven of heavens, cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built! 28 Yet have respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, Jehovah, my God*GodHebrew: Elohim to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee this day; 29 that thine eyes may be open upon this house night and day, upon the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place. 30 And hearken unto the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place, and hear thou in thy dwelling-place, in the heavens, and when thou hearest, forgive. 31 If a man have sinned against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to adjure him, and the oath come before thine altar in this house; 32 then hear thou in the heavens, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head; and justifying the righteous, giving him according to his righteousness. 33 When thy people Israel are put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house; 34 then hear thou in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land that thou gavest unto their fathers. 35 When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, because thou hast afflicted them; 36 then hear thou in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance. 37 If there be famine in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blight, mildew, locust, caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their gates; whatever plague, whatever sickness there be: 38 what prayer, what supplication soever be made by any man, of all thy people Israel, when they shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house; 39 then hear thou in the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, and forgive, and do, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men), 40 that they may fear thee all the days that they live upon the land which thou gavest unto our fathers. 41 And as to the stranger also, who is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake 42 (for they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy mighty hand, and of thy stretched-out arm); when he shall come and pray toward this house, 43 hear thou in the heavens thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; in order that all peoples of the earth may know thy name, and that they may fear thee as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name. 44 If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray to Jehovah toward the city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name; 45 then hear thou in the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their right. 46 If they have sinned against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and give them up to the enemy, and they have carried them away captives unto the enemy’s land, far or near; 47 and if they shall take it to heart in the land whither they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captive, saying, We have sinned, and have done iniquity, we have dealt perversely; 48 and if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name; 49 then hear thou in the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their right; 50 and forgive thy people their sin against thee, and all their transgressions whereby they have transgressed against thee, and give them to find compassion with those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them 51 (for they are thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron) — 52 thine eyes being open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee. 53 For thou hast separated them from among all peoples of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spokest through Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Jehovah.

54 And it was so, that when Solomon had ended praying all this prayer and supplication to Jehovah, he arose from before the altar of Jehovah, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth to the heavens, 55 and he stood and blessed the whole congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, 56 Blessed be Jehovah, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there has not failed one word of all his good promises which he spoke through Moses his servant! 57 Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim be with us, as he was with our fathers; let him not forsake us nor cast us off: 58 that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers. 59 And let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Jehovah, be nigh to Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim day and night, that he maintain the right of his servant, and the right of his people Israel, as the matter of each day shall require; 60 that all peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah is God*GodHebrew: Elohim that there is none else; 61 and that your heart may be perfect with Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim to walk in his statutes and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

62 And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifices before Jehovah. 63 And Solomon sacrificed a sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he sacrificed to Jehovah, twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of Jehovah. 64 The same day the king hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar that was before Jehovah was too small to receive the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fat of the peace-offerings. 65 And at that time Solomon held the feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath unto the torrent of Egypt, before Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim seven days and seven days, fourteen days. 66 On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Jehovah had done to David his servant, and to Israel his people.

Au jertfit*2 Sam. 6:13. oi și boi, care n-au putut fi nici numărați, nici socotiți din pricina mulțimii lor. 6 Preoții au dus*2 Sam. 6:17. chivotul legământului Domnului la*Exod 26:33,34. Cap. 6:19. locul lui, în Locul Preasfânt al casei, în Sfânta Sfintelor, sub*Cap. 6:27. aripile heruvimilor. 7 Căci heruvimii aveau aripile întinse peste locul chivotului și acopereau chivotul și drugii lui pe deasupra. 8 Se dăduse drugilor*Exod 25:14,15. o așa lungime încât capetele lor se vedeau din Locul Sfânt dinaintea Locului Preasfânt, dar nu se vedeau de afară. Ei au fost acolo până în ziua de azi. 9 În chivot*Exod 25:21.Deut. 10:2. nu erau decât*Deut. 10:5.Evr. 9:4. cele două table de piatră pe care le-a*Exod 40:20. pus Moise în el la Horeb, când*Exod 34:27,28.Deut. 4:13. Vers. 21. a făcut Domnul legământ cu copiii lui Israel, la ieșirea lor din țara Egiptului. 10 În clipa când au ieșit preoții din Locul Sfânt, norul a umplut*Exod 40:34,35.2 Cron. 5:13,14;7:2. Casa Domnului. 11 Preoții n-au putut să rămână acolo să facă slujba din pricina norului, căci slava Domnului umpluse Casa Domnului.

12 Atunci*2 Cron. 6:1., Solomon a zis: „Domnul a zis că vrea să locuiască în întuneric*Lev. 16:2.Ps. 18:11;97:2.! 13 Eu am zidit*2 Sam. 7:13. o casă care va fi locuința Ta, un loc*Ps. 132:14. unde vei locui pe vecie!" 14 Împăratul și-a întors fața și a binecuvântat*2 Sam. 6:18. pe toată adunarea lui Israel. Toată adunarea lui Israel era în picioare. 15 Și el a zis: „Binecuvântat*Luca 1:68. să fie Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a vorbit*2 Sam. 7:5,25. cu gura Lui tatălui meu David și care împlinește, prin puterea Lui, ce spusese când a zis: 16 ‘Din*2 Sam. 7:6.2 Cron. 6:5. ziua când am scos din Egipt pe poporul Meu Israel, n-am ales nicio cetate dintre toate semințiile lui Israel ca să Mi se zidească în ea o casă unde*Vers. 29.Deut. 12:11. să locuiască Numele Meu, ci am ales pe David*1 Sam. 16:1.2 Sam. 7:8.1 Cron. 28:4. să împărățească peste poporul Meu Israel!’ 17 Tatăl meu David avea de gând*2 Sam. 7:2.1 Cron. 17:1. să zidească o casă Numelui Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. 18 Și Domnul*2 Cron. 6:8,9. a zis tatălui meu David: ‘Fiindcă ai avut de gând să zidești o casă Numelui Meu, bine ai făcut că ai avut acest gând. 19 Numai că nu tu*2 Sam. 7:5,12,13. Cap. 5:3,5. vei zidi casa, ci fiul tău, ieșit din trupul tău, va zidi casa Numelui Meu.’ 20 Domnul a împlinit cuvintele pe care*1 Cron. 28:5,6. le rostise. Eu m-am ridicat în locul tatălui meu David și am șezut pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, cum vestise Domnul, și am zidit casa Numelui Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. 21 Am rânduit un loc pentru chivot, unde este legământul*Vers. 9.Deut. 31:26. Domnului, legământul pe care l-a făcut El cu părinții noștri, când i-a scos din țara Egiptului."

22 Solomon s-a așezat înaintea altarului*2 Cron. 6:12. Domnului, în fața întregii adunări a lui Israel. Și-a întins*Exod 9:33.Ezra 9:5.Is. 1:15. mâinile spre cer 23 și a zis:

„Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel! Nu*Exod 15:11.2 Sam. 7:22. este Dumnezeu ca Tine nici sus în ceruri, nici jos pe pământ. Tu ții*Deut. 7:9.Neem. 1:5.Dan. 9:4. legământul și îndurarea față de robii Tăi, care umblă*Gen. 17:1. Cap. 3:6.2 Împ. 20:3. înaintea Ta din toată inima lor! 24 Astfel, ai ținut cuvântul dat robului Tău David, tatăl meu, și ce ai spus cu gura Ta împlinești în ziua aceasta cu puterea Ta. 25 Acum, Doamne, Dumnezeul lui Israel, ține făgăduința pe care ai făcut-o tatălui meu, David, când ai zis: ‘Nu*2 Sam. 7:12,16. Cap. 2:4. vei fi lipsit niciodată înaintea Mea de un urmaș care să șadă pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel, numai fiii tăi să ia seama la calea lor și să umble înaintea Mea cum ai umblat tu înaintea Mea.’ 26 O, Dumnezeul lui Israel, împlinească-se făgăduința*2 Sam. 7:25. pe care ai făcut-o robului Tău David, tatăl meu! 27 Dar ce! Va locui*2 Cron. 2:6.Is. 66:1.Ier. 23:24.Fapte 7:49;17:24. oare cu adevărat Dumnezeu pe pământ? Iată că cerurile și cerurile*2 Cor. 12:2. cerurilor nu pot să Te cuprindă, cu cât mai puțin casa aceasta pe care Ți-am zidit-o eu! 28 Totuși, Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, ia aminte la rugăciunea robului Tău și la cererea lui; ascultă strigătul și rugăciunea pe care Ți-o face astăzi robul Tău. 29 Ochii Tăi să fie zi și noapte deschiși asupra casei acesteia, asupra locului despre care ai zis: ‘Acolo va fi Numele Meu!’ Ascultă rugăciunea pe care Ți-o face robul Tău în locul*Dan. 6:10. acesta. 30 Binevoiește și ascultă*2 Cron. 20:9.Neem. 1:6. cererea robului Tău și a poporului Tău Israel, când se vor ruga în locul acesta! Ascultă-i din locul locuinței Tale, din ceruri, ascultă-i și iartă-i! 31 Dacă va păcătui cineva împotriva aproapelui său și va fi silit să*Exod 22:11. facă un jurământ și va veni să jure înaintea altarului Tău, în casa aceasta, 32 ascultă-l din ceruri, lucrează și fă dreptate robilor Tăi; osândește*Deut. 25:1. pe cel vinovat și întoarce vina purtării lui asupra capului lui; dă dreptate celui nevinovat și fă-i după nevinovăția lui! 33 Când*Lev. 26:17.Deut. 28:25. poporul Tău Israel va fi bătut de vrăjmaș pentru că a păcătuit împotriva Ta, dacă se vor întoarce*Lev. 26:39,40.Neem. 1:9. la Tine și vor da slavă Numelui Tău, dacă-Ți vor face rugăciuni și cereri în casa aceasta, 34 ascultă-i din ceruri, iartă păcatul poporului Tău Israel și întoarce-i în țara pe care ai dat-o părinților lor! 35 Când*Lev. 26:19.Deut. 28:23. se va închide cerul și nu va fi ploaie din pricina păcatelor făcute de ei împotriva Ta, dacă se vor ruga în locul acesta și vor da slavă Numelui Tău și dacă se vor abate de la păcatele lor pentru că-i vei pedepsi, 36 ascultă-i din ceruri, iartă păcatul robilor Tăi și al poporului Tău Israel, învață-i*Ps. 25:4;27:11;94:12;143:8. calea cea*1 Sam. 12:23. bună pe care trebuie să umble și să trimiți ploaie pe pământul pe care l-ai dat de moștenire poporului Tău! 37 Când foametea*Lev. 26:16,25,26.Deut. 28:21,22,27,38,42,52.2 Cron. 20:9., ciuma, rugina, tăciunele, lăcustele de un fel sau altul vor fi în țară, când vrăjmașul va împresura pe poporul Tău în țara lui, în cetățile lui, când vor fi urgii sau boli de orice fel, 38 dacă un om, dacă tot poporul Tău Israel va face rugăciuni și cereri și fiecare își va cunoaște mustrarea cugetului lui și va întinde mâinile spre casa aceasta, 39 ascultă-l din ceruri, din locul locuinței Tale, și iartă-l; lucrează și răsplătește fiecăruia după căile lui, Tu, care cunoști inima fiecăruia, căci numai Tu cunoști*1 Sam. 16:7.1 Cron. 28:9.Ps. 11:4.Ier. 17:10.Fapte 1:24. inima tuturor copiilor oamenilor, 40 ca să se teamă*Ps. 130:4. de Tine în tot timpul cât vor trăi în țara pe care ai dat-o părinților noștri! 41 Când străinul, care nu este din poporul Tău Israel, va veni dintr-o țară depărtată pentru Numele Tău, 42 căci se va ști că Numele Tău este mare, mâna*Deut. 3:24. Ta este tare și brațul Tău este întins, când va veni să se roage în casa aceasta, 43 ascultă-l din ceruri, din locul locuinței Tale, și dă străinului aceluia tot ce-Ți va cere, pentru ca toate popoarele pământului să cunoască*1 Sam. 17:46.2 Împ. 19:19.Ps. 67:2. Numele Tău, să se teamă*Ps. 102:15. de Tine, ca și poporul Tău Israel, și să știe că Numele Tău este chemat peste casa aceasta pe care am zidit-o eu! 44 Când poporul Tău va ieși la luptă împotriva vrăjmașului său, urmând calea pe care i-o vei porunci Tu, dacă vor face rugăciuni Domnului cu privirile întoarse spre cetatea pe care ai ales-o Tu și spre casa pe care am zidit-o eu Numelui Tău, 45 ascultă din ceruri rugăciunile și cererile lor și fă-le dreptate! 46 Când vor păcătui împotriva Ta – căci*2 Cron. 6:36.Prov. 20:9.Ecl. 7:20.Iac. 3:2.1 Ioan 1:8,10. nu este om care să nu păcătuiască – și Te vei mânia împotriva lor și-i vei da în mâna vrăjmașului, care-i va duce robi într-o țară*Lev. 26:34,44.Deut. 28:36,64. vrăjmașă, depărtată sau apropiată, 47 dacă*Lev. 26:40. se vor coborî în ei înșiși, în țara unde vor fi robi, dacă se vor întoarce la Tine și-Ți vor face cereri în țara celor ce-i vor duce în robie și vor*Neem. 1:6.Ps. 106:6.Dan. 9:5. zice: ‘Am păcătuit, am săvârșit fărădelegi, am făcut rău’, 48 dacă se vor întoarce*Ier. 29:12-14. la Tine din toată inima lor și din tot sufletul lor în țara vrăjmașilor lor care i-au luat robi, dacă-Ți vor face rugăciuni*Dan. 6:10. cu privirile întoarse spre țara lor, pe care ai dat-o părinților lor, spre cetatea pe care ai ales-o și spre casa pe care am zidit-o eu Numelui Tău, 49 ascultă din ceruri, din locul locuinței Tale, rugăciunile și cererile lor și fă-le dreptate; 50 iartă poporului Tău păcatele lui și toate fărădelegile făcute împotriva Ta; trezește*Ezra 7:6.Ps. 106:46. mila celor ce-i vor ține robi, ca să se îndure de ei, 51 căci sunt*Deut. 9:29.Neem. 1:10. poporul Tău și moștenirea Ta și Tu i-ai scos din Egipt, din mijlocul unui cuptor*Deut. 4:20.Ier. 11:4. de fier! 52 Ochii Tăi să fie deschiși la cererea robului Tău și la cererea poporului Tău Israel, ca să-i asculți în tot ce-Ți vor cere! 53 Căci Tu i-ai ales din toate celelalte popoare ale pământului, ca să faci din ei moștenirea Ta, cum ai*Exod 19:5.Deut. 9:26,29;14:2. spus prin robul Tău Moise, când ai scos din Egipt pe părinții noștri, Doamne Dumnezeule!" 54 Când a isprăvit Solomon de spus Domnului toată rugăciunea aceasta și cererea aceasta, s-a sculat dinaintea altarului Domnului, unde îngenunchease, cu mâinile întinse spre cer. 55 Și, stând în picioare, a binecuvântat*2 Sam. 6:18. cu glas tare toată adunarea lui Israel, zicând: 56 „Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, care a dat odihnă poporului Său Israel, după toate făgăduințele Lui! Din toate bunele cuvinte pe care le rostise prin robul Său Moise, niciunul n-a rămas*Deut. 12:10.Ios. 21:45;23:14. neîmplinit. 57 Domnul Dumnezeul nostru să fie cu noi cum a fost cu părinții noștri; să*Deut. 31:6.Ios. 1:5. nu ne părăsească și să nu ne lase, 58 ci să*Ps. 119:36. ne plece inimile spre El, ca să umblăm în toate căile Lui și să păzim poruncile Lui, legile Lui și rânduielile Lui, pe care le-a poruncit părinților noștri! 59 Cuvintele acestea, cuprinse în cererile mele înaintea Domnului, să fie zi și noapte înaintea Domnului Dumnezeului nostru și să facă în tot timpul dreptate robului Său și poporului Său Israel, 60 pentru ca toate popoarele pământului să poată cunoaște*Ios. 4:24.1 Sam. 17:46.2 Împ. 19:19. că Domnul*Deut. 4:35,39. este Dumnezeu și că nu este alt Dumnezeu afară de El! 61 Inima*Cap. 11:4;15:3,14.2 Împ. 20:3. voastră să fie în totul a Domnului Dumnezeului nostru, cum este astăzi, ca să urmați legile Lui și să păziți poruncile Lui."

62 Împăratul*2 Cron. 7:4. și tot Israelul împreună cu el au adus jertfe înaintea Domnului. 63 Solomon a înjunghiat douăzeci și două de mii de boi și o sută douăzeci de mii de oi pentru jertfa de mulțumire pe care a adus-o Domnului. Și ei au binecuvântat pe împărat și s-au dus în corturile lor veseli și cu inima mulțumită pentru tot binele pe care-l făcuse Domnul robului Său David și poporului Său Israel.
