1 And thou, son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD. 2 Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are ours in possession: 3 therefore prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the nations, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people: 4 therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about: 5 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, which have appointed my land unto themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey: 6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: 7 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: I have lifted up mine hand, saying, Surely the heathen that are round about you, they shall bear their shame. 8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come. 9 For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: 10 and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded: 11 and I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase, and be fruitful: and I will cause you to be inhabited after your former estate, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 12 Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of children. 13 Thus saith the Lord GOD: Because they say unto you, Thou land art a devourer of men, and hast been a bereaver of thy nation; 14 therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nation any more, saith the Lord GOD; 15 neither will I let thee hear any more the shame of the heathen, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the peoples any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nation to stumble any more, saith the Lord GOD. 16 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 17 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings: their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her separation. 18 Wherefore I poured out my fury upon them for the blood which they had poured out upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols: 19 and I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them. 20 And when they came unto the nations, whither they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. 21 But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they went. 22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD: I do not this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye went. 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which hath been profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. 24 For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you art heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 And I will save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will multiply it, and lay no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations. 31 Then shall ye remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations. 32 Not for your sake do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel. 33 Thus saith the Lord GOD: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded. 34 And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all that passed by. 35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fenced and inhabited. 36 Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. 37 Thus saith the Lord GOD: For this moreover will I be inquired of by the house of Israel; to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. 38 As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

1 — Filho do homem, profetize para os montes de Israel e diga: Montes de Israel, ouçam a palavra do Senhor. 2 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: "Os inimigos disseram a respeito de vocês: ‘Bem feito!’, e também: ‘Os eternos lugares altos são nossa herança.’" 3 Por isso, profetize e diga: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: "Visto que eles os assolaram e procuraram abocanhar de todos os lados, para que vocês se tornassem propriedade do resto das nações e fossem alvo de falatório e difamação entre o povo, 4 por isso, ó montes de Israel, ouçam a palavra do Senhor Deus: Assim diz o Senhor Deus aos montes e às colinas, aos desfiladeiros e aos vales, aos lugares desertos e desolados e às cidades abandonadas, que se tornaram rapina e motivo de zombaria para o resto das nações vizinhas."

5 — Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Certamente, no fogo do meu zelo, falei contra o resto das nações e contra todo o Edom. Eles se apropriaram da minha terra, com alegria de todo o coração e com profundo desprezo, para despovoá-la e saqueá-la.

6 — Portanto, profetize a respeito da terra de Israel e diga aos montes e às colinas, aos desfiladeiros e aos vales: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: "Eis que falo no meu zelo e no meu furor, porque vocês tiveram de suportar a zombaria das nações. 7 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Juro que as nações que estão ao redor de vocês também serão motivo de zombaria. 8 Quanto a vocês, montes de Israel, vocês produzirão os seus ramos e darão os seus frutos para o meu povo de Israel, o qual está prestes a vir. 9 Porque eis que estou do lado de vocês. Eu me voltarei para vocês, e vocês serão lavrados e semeados. 10 Multiplicarei pessoas sobre vocês, toda a casa de Israel, sim, toda ela. As cidades serão habitadas e as ruínas serão reconstruídas. 11 Multiplicarei pessoas e animais sobre vocês. Eles se multiplicarão e serão fecundos. Farei com que vocês voltem a morar onde moravam no passado e os tratarei melhor do que no começo. Então vocês saberão que eu sou o Senhor. 12 Farei com que pessoas, o meu povo de Israel, andem sobre vocês, ó montes. Eles tomarão posse de vocês, vocês serão a herança deles, e nunca mais deixarão que eles fiquem sem os seus filhos."

13 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: "Visto que lhe dizem: ‘Você é uma terra que devora as pessoas, uma terra que deixa o povo sem filhos’, 14 certamente você não devorará mais as pessoas nem privará o seu povo dos seus filhos, diz o Senhor Deus. 15 Não permitirei mais que você ouça a zombaria das nações ou tenha de suportar a vergonha dos povos. Nunca mais você deixará o seu povo sem os seus filhos", diz o Senhor Deus.

16 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

17 — Filho do homem, quando os da casa de Israel moravam na sua terra, eles a contaminaram com os seus caminhos e as suas ações. Aos meus olhos, o caminho deles era como a impureza da menstruação. 18 Por isso, derramei o meu furor sobre eles, por causa do sangue que derramaram sobre a terra e por causa dos seus ídolos com que a contaminaram. 19 Eu os dispersei entre as nações, e foram espalhados por outras terras; segundo os seus caminhos e segundo as suas ações, eu os castiguei. 20 Quando chegaram às nações para onde foram, profanaram o meu santo nome, pois deles se dizia: "Esse é o povo do Senhor, mas eles tiveram de sair da terra dele." 21 Mas eu tratei de proteger o meu santo nome, que a casa de Israel profanou entre as nações para onde foi.

22 — Portanto, diga à casa de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: "Não é por causa de vocês que eu faço isto, ó casa de Israel, mas pelo meu santo nome, que vocês profanaram entre as nações para onde foram. 23 Revelarei a santidade do meu grande nome, que foi profanado entre as nações, o qual vocês profanaram no meio delas. As nações saberão que eu sou o Senhor, diz o Senhor Deus, quando eu manifestar a minha santidade diante delas por meio de vocês. 24 Eu os tirarei do meio das nações, eu os congregarei de todos os países e os trarei de volta para a sua própria terra. 25 Então aspergirei água pura sobre vocês, e vocês ficarão purificados. Eu os purificarei de todas as suas impurezas e de todos os seus ídolos. 26 Eu lhes darei um coração novo e porei dentro de vocês um espírito novo. Tirarei de vocês o coração de pedra e lhes darei um coração de carne. 27 Porei dentro de vocês o meu Espírito e farei com que andem nos meus estatutos, guardem e observem os meus juízos. 28 Vocês habitarão na terra que eu dei aos seus pais. Vocês serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus. 29 Eu os livrarei de todas as suas impurezas. Farei vir o trigo, e o multiplicarei, e não trarei fome sobre vocês. 30 Multiplicarei os frutos das árvores e as colheitas do campo, para que vocês nunca mais passem vergonha entre as nações por causa da fome. 31 Então vocês se lembrarão dos seus maus caminhos e das suas ações que não foram boas, e terão nojo de vocês mesmos por causa das suas iniquidades e das suas abominações. 32 Não é por causa de vocês, fique bem-entendido, que eu faço isto, diz o Senhor Deus. Fiquem envergonhados e confusos por causa dos seus caminhos, ó casa de Israel."

33 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: No dia em que eu os purificar de todas as suas iniquidades, então farei com que as cidades sejam habitadas e as ruínas sejam reconstruídas. 34 A terra que estava abandonada será cultivada e deixará de ser um lugar abandonado aos olhos de todos os que passam. 35 Então se dirá: "Esta terra abandonada ficou como o jardim do Éden. As cidades que estavam desertas, abandonadas e em ruínas estão fortificadas e habitadas." 36 Então as nações que tiverem restado ao redor de vocês saberão que eu, o Senhor, reconstruí as cidades destruídas e replantei o que estava abandonado. Eu, o Senhor, falei e eu o cumprirei.

37 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Deixarei que a casa de Israel peça que eu lhe faça ainda isto: que eu aumente o número de pessoas como se fosse um rebanho. 38 Como os rebanhos consagrados para os sacrifícios, os rebanhos de Jerusalém nas suas festas fixas, assim as cidades desertas se encherão de rebanhos de pessoas. E eles saberão que eu sou o Senhor.
