1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 And thou, son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel, An end: the end is come upon the four corners of the land. 3 Now is the end upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations. 4 And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will bring thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 5 Thus saith the Lord GOD: An evil, an only evil; behold, it cometh. 6 An end is come, the end is come, it awaketh against thee; behold, it cometh. 7 Thy doom is come unto thee, O inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day is near; a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting, upon the mountains. 8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations. 9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will bring upon thee according to thy ways, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I the LORD do smite. 10 Behold, the day, behold, it cometh: thy doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded. 11 Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness; none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth: neither shall there be eminency among them. 12 The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof. 13 For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they be yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, none shall return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life. 14 They have blown the trumpet, and have made all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof. 15 The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him. 16 But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one in his iniquity. 17 All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water. 18 They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads. 19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an unclean thing; their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD; they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it hath been the stumblingblock of their iniquity. 20 As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein: therefore have I made it unto them as an unclean thing. 21 And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it. 22 My face will I turn also from them, and they shall profane my secret place: and robbers shall enter into it, and profane it. 23 Make the chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence. 24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pride of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be profaned. 25 Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none. 26 Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; and they shall seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients. 27 The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

1 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

2 — Filho do homem, assim diz o Senhor Deus a respeito da terra de Israel:

"Chegou o fim!

O fim chegou

sobre os quatro cantos da terra.

3 Agora o fim chegou

sobre você, povo de Israel.

Enviarei a minha ira sobre vocês.

Eu os julgarei

segundo os seus caminhos

e farei cair sobre vocês

todas as suas abominações.

4 Os meus olhos não terão piedade,

e eu não os pouparei.

Pelo contrário, eu darei

o que vocês merecem

por seus atos,

e farei com que paguem

por todas as suas abominações.

E vocês saberão

que eu sou o Senhor."

5 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus:

"Calamidade após calamidade,

eis que vêm.

6 Chegou o fim!

O fim chegou,

já despertou contra você!

7 A sua sentença chegou,

ó morador desta terra.

Chegou a hora. O dia está próximo,

dia de tumulto, e não de alegria,

sobre os montes.

8 Agora, em breve,

derramarei o meu furor

sobre você,

cumprirei a minha ira contra você.

Eu os castigarei

segundo os seus caminhos

e os farei pagar por todas

as suas abominações.

9 Os meus olhos não terão piedade,

e eu não os pouparei.

Segundo os seus caminhos,

assim os castigarei,

e os farei pagar

por suas abominações.

E vocês saberão que eu, o Senhor,

sou o que castiga."

10 "Eis o dia! Eis que chegou!

Brotou a sentença,

já floresceu a vara,

reverdeceu a arrogância.

11 A violência se ergueu

para servir de vara de maldade.

Nada restará deles,

nem da sua multidão,

nem da sua riqueza,

nem da sua glória.

12 Chegou a hora,

o dia está próximo.

Quem compra não se alegre,

e quem vende não se entristeça,

porque a ira cairá sobre todos eles.

13 Porque o vendedor

não tornará a possuir

aquilo que vendeu,

por mais que viva.

Porque a profecia contra todos eles

não será revogada,

e, por causa da própria maldade,

ninguém preservará a vida."

14 "Tocaram a trombeta

e prepararam tudo,

mas ninguém vai à batalha,

porque a minha ira

cairá sobre todos eles.

15 Fora está a espada;

dentro, a peste e a fome.

Quem está no campo

morre à espada,

e quem está na cidade,

a fome e a peste o consomem.

16 Se alguns deles, fugindo,

escaparem,

estarão pelos montes,

como pombas dos vales,

todos gemendo, cada um

por causa da sua maldade.

17 Todas as mãos desfalecerão,

e todos os joelhos se desfarão

em água.

18 Vestirão roupa

feita de pano de saco,

e o terror tomará conta deles.

Todos os rostos

ficarão cobertos de vergonha,

e todas as cabeças serão rapadas.

19 Jogarão a sua prata nas ruas,

e o seu ouro será tratado

como se fosse sujeira.

Nem a sua prata nem o seu ouro

poderão livrá-los

no dia da ira do Senhor;

eles não saciarão a sua fome,

nem lhes encherão o estômago,

porque a prata e o ouro

foram o tropeço

que os levou a cair em iniquidade.

20 Dessas preciosas joias fizeram

seu objeto de orgulho

e fabricaram

as suas abomináveis imagens

e seus ídolos detestáveis.

Por isso, fiz com que essas coisas

se tornassem como sujeira

para eles."

21 "Entregarei tudo isso

nas mãos de estrangeiros,

por presa,

e aos ímpios da terra, por despojo;

eles o profanarão.

22 Desviarei deles o rosto,

e profanarão o meu tesouro;

ladrões entrarão nele

e o profanarão."

23 "Prepare uma corrente,

porque a terra está cheia

de crimes de sangue,

e a cidade, cheia de violência.

24 Trarei aqui as piores nações,

que tomarão posse

das casas deles.

Farei cessar a arrogância

dos valentes,

e os seus lugares santos

serão profanados.

25 A destruição está a caminho!

Eles buscarão paz,

mas não haverá paz.

26 Virá miséria sobre miséria,

e um rumor após o outro.

Buscarão visões de profetas;

do sacerdote perecerá a lei,

e dos anciãos, o conselho.

27 O rei estará de luto,

o príncipe se vestirá de horror,

e as mãos do povo da terra

tremerão de medo.

Vou tratá-los

segundo a sua conduta,

e os julgarei

pelos seus próprios critérios.

E eles saberão

que eu sou o Senhor."
