1 And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp sword, as a barber’s razor shalt thou take it unto thee, and shalt cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair. 2 A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, and smite with the sword round about it; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them. 3 And thou shalt take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts. 4 And of these again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel. 5 Thus saith the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem: I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are round about her. 6 And she hath rebelled against my judgments in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have rejected my judgments, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them. 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Because ye are turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you; 8 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I, even I, am against thee; and I will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations. 9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations. 10 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter unto all the winds. 11 Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, and I also will have no pity. 12 A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and a third part I will scatter unto all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them. 13 Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will satisfy my fury upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury upon them. 14 Moreover I will make thee a desolation and a reproach, among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by. 15 So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury, and in furious rebukes: I the LORD have spoken it: 16 when I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you; and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread; 17 and I will send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee: I the LORD have spoken it.

1 — Filho do homem, pegue uma espada afiada e use-a como navalha de barbeiro, passando-a pela sua cabeça e pela sua barba. Depois, pegue uma balança e reparta os cabelos que você cortou. 2 Queime uma terça parte no meio da cidade, quando se cumprirem os dias do cerco. Pegue outra terça parte e corte-a com a espada, enquanto você rodeia a cidade. Espalhe a outra terça parte ao vento, e irei atrás deles com a espada. 3 Mas pegue uns poucos cabelos e prenda-os nas bordas das suas roupas. 4 Pegue ainda alguns cabelos, jogue-os no fogo, e deixe que se queimem. Dali sairá um fogo contra toda a casa de Israel.

5 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Esta é Jerusalém; eu a coloquei no meio das nações, com os outros países ao seu redor. 6 Ela, porém, se rebelou contra os meus juízos e os meus estatutos, sendo mais perversa do que as nações e os países ao seu redor. Porque os moradores de Jerusalém rejeitaram os meus juízos e não andaram nos meus estatutos. 7 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Vocês são mais rebeldes do que as nações que estão ao seu redor. Não andaram nos meus estatutos, não executaram os meus juízos, nem procederam segundo o direito das nações ao redor de vocês. 8 Por isso, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Eis que eu, eu mesmo, estou contra você, Jerusalém, e vou executar os meus juízos dentro de você, à vista das nações. 9 Farei com você o que nunca fiz e o que jamais farei de novo, por causa de todas as suas abominações. 10 Por isso, os pais vão devorar os próprios filhos dentro de você, ó Jerusalém, e os filhos vão devorar os pais. Executarei em você os meus juízos e tudo o que restar de você espalharei aos quatro ventos. 11 Portanto, porque você profanou o meu santuário com todas as suas coisas detestáveis e com todas as suas abominações, tão certo como eu vivo, diz o Senhor Deus, eu me retirarei. Os meus olhos não terão piedade, e eu não a pouparei. 12 Uma terça parte dos seus moradores morrerá de peste e será consumida pela fome dentro de suas muralhas; outra terça parte cairá à espada nos seus arredores; e a outra terça parte espalharei aos quatro ventos e irei atrás dela com a espada na mão.

13 — Assim se cumprirá a minha ira, satisfarei neles o meu furor e me acalmarei. Saberão que eu, o Senhor, falei motivado pelo meu zelo, quando cumprir neles o meu furor. 14 Jerusalém, farei de você uma desolação e objeto de deboche entre as nações que estão ao seu redor, à vista de todos os que passarem.

15 — Assim, você será objeto de deboche e de zombaria, um exemplo de castigo e um motivo de espanto às nações que estão ao seu redor, quando eu executar em você juízos com ira e indignação, em furiosos castigos. Eu, o Senhor, falei. 16 Quando eu atirar contra eles as flechas mortais da fome, flechas destruidoras, que eu enviarei para destruir vocês, então aumentarei a fome entre vocês e lhes cortarei o suprimento de pão. 17 Enviarei sobre vocês a fome, e animais selvagens que os deixarão sem filhos; a peste e o derramamento de sangue passarão por você, e trarei a espada contra você. Eu, o Senhor, falei.
