1 O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things, even counsels of old, in faithfulness and truth. 2 For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. 3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. 4 For thou hast been a strong hold to the poor, a strong hold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 5 As the heat in a dry place shalt thou bring down the noise of strangers; as the heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the terrible ones shall be brought low. 6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering that is cast over all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He hath swallowed up death for ever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. 9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. 10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down in his place, even as straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill. 11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst thereof, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall lay low his pride together with the craft of his hands. 12 And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls hath he brought down, laid low, and brought to the ground, even to the dust.

1 Ó Senhor, tu és o meu Deus;

eu te exaltarei

e louvarei o teu nome,

porque tens feito maravilhas

e tens executado

os teus conselhos antigos,

fiéis e verdadeiros.

2 Porque da cidade fizeste

um montão de pedras

e da cidade fortificada, uma ruína;

a fortaleza dos estrangeiros

já não é cidade

e jamais será reconstruída.

3 Por isso, um povo forte

te glorificará,

e a cidade das nações opressoras

te temerá.

4 Porque foste a fortaleza do pobre

e a fortaleza do necessitado

na sua angústia;

refúgio contra a tempestade

e sombra contra o calor.

Porque a fúria dos tiranos é como

a tempestade contra o muro,

5 como o calor em lugar seco.

Tu farás cessar o tumulto

dos estrangeiros.

Como o calor se abranda

com a sombra de uma nuvem,

assim o hino triunfal dos tiranos

será silenciado.

6 O Senhor dos Exércitos

dará neste monte

um banquete para todos os povos.

Será um banquete

de carnes suculentas

e vinhos envelhecidos:

carnes suculentas com tutanos

e vinhos envelhecidos

bem-clarificados.

7 Neste monte ele acabará

com o pano que cobre

todos os povos

e com o véu que está posto

sobre todas as nações.

8 Tragará a morte para sempre,

e, assim,

o Senhor Deus enxugará as lágrimas

de todos os rostos,

e tirará de toda a terra

o vexame do seu povo,

porque o Senhor falou.

9 Naquele dia, se dirá:

"Eis que este é o nosso Deus,

em quem esperávamos,

e ele nos salvará;

este é o Senhor,

a quem aguardávamos;

na sua salvação exultaremos

e nos alegraremos."

10 Porque a mão do Senhor

repousará neste monte;

mas Moabe será pisoteado

no seu lugar,

como se pisa a palha na esterqueira.

11 No meio disto

Moabe estenderá os braços,

como o nadador os estende

para nadar;

mas o Senhor lhe abaterá o orgulho,

apesar da perícia dos seus braços.

12 Ele derrubará as altas fortalezas

das muralhas de Moabe;

irá abatê-las e derrubá-las

até o chão, até o pó.
