1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. 2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations; spare not: lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. 3 For thou shalt spread abroad on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. 4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and the reproach of thy widowhood shalt thou remember no more. 5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called. 6 For the LORD hath called thee as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off, saith thy God. 7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. 8 In overflowing wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy redeemer. 9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. 10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. 11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. 12 And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of pleasant stones. 13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. 14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression, for thou shalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee. 15 Behold, they may gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall because of thee. 16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the fire of coals, and bringeth forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness which is of me, saith the LORD.

1 "Cante, ó estéril,

você que não deu à luz;

exulte e grite de alegria,

você que nunca sentiu

dores de parto!

Porque os filhos da mulher

solitária

são mais numerosos

do que os filhos da casada",

diz o Senhor.

2 "Alargue o espaço de sua tenda

e aumente o toldo

de sua habitação;

não o impeça; alongue as cordas

e firme bem as estacas.

3 Porque você se expandirá

para a direita

e para a esquerda;

a sua posteridade

possuirá as nações

e fará com que se povoem

as cidades arrasadas."

4 "Não tenha medo,

porque você não será

envergonhada;

não tenha vergonha,

porque você não sofrerá

humilhação.

Você se esquecerá

da vergonha da sua mocidade

e não mais se lembrará

da desgraça da sua viuvez.

5 Porque o seu Criador

é o seu marido;

Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome.

O Santo de Israel

é o seu Redentor;

ele é chamado

‘O Deus de toda a terra’."

6 "Porque o Senhor chamou você

como se chama

a mulher abandonada

e de espírito abatido,

como se chama

a mulher da mocidade,

que havia sido repudiada,

diz o seu Deus.

7 Por um breve momento

abandonei você,

mas com grande misericórdia

tornarei a acolhê-la.

8 Num ímpeto de indignação,

escondi de você a minha face

por um momento,

mas com misericórdia eterna

me compadeço de você",

diz o Senhor, o seu Redentor.

9 "Porque isto é para mim

como as águas de Noé:

como jurei que as águas de Noé

não mais inundariam a terra,

assim jurei que não mais

ficaria irado com você,

nem a repreenderia.

10 Mesmo que os montes

se retirem

e as colinas sejam removidas,

a minha misericórdia

não se afastará de você,

e a minha aliança de paz

não será removida",

diz o Senhor,

que se compadece de você.

11 "Ó cidade aflita,

sacudida pela tormenta

e desconsolada!

Eis que eu assentarei

as suas pedras

com argamassa colorida

e lançarei os seus alicerces

sobre safiras.

12 As suas torres serão de rubis,

os seus portões

serão de esmeraldas

e toda a sua muralha

será de pedras preciosas.

13 Todos os seus filhos

serão ensinados pelo Senhor,

e será grande a paz de seus filhos.

14 Você será estabelecida

em justiça.

Ficará longe da opressão,

porque não temerá;

ficará longe do terror,

porque ele não chegará perto

de você.

15 Se alguém a atacar,

isso não procederá de mim;

mas quem a atacar cairá

diante de você."

16 "Eis que eu criei o ferreiro,

que assopra as brasas no fogo

e que produz a arma

para o seu devido fim;

eu criei também o destruidor,

para trazer a ruína.

17 Nenhuma arma forjada

contra você prosperará;

e você condenará toda língua

que quiser acusá-la em juízo.

Esta é a herança

dos servos do Senhor

e a sua justiça

que procede de mim",

diz o Senhor.
