1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye were digged. 2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many. 3 For the LORD hath comforted Zion: he hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. 4 Attend unto me, O my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the peoples. 5 My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust. 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. 7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings. 8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation unto all generations. 9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Art thou not it that cut Rahab in pieces, that pierced the dragon? 10 Art thou not it which dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 11 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. 12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; 13 and hast forgotten the LORD thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he maketh ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? 14 The captive exile shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not die and go down into the pit, neither shall his bread fail. 15 For I am the LORD thy God, which stirreth up the sea, that the waves thereof roar: the LORD of hosts is his name. 16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. 17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it. 18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up. 19 These two things are befallen thee; who shall bemoan thee? desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort thee? 20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the top of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God. 21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: 22 Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again: 23 and I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy back as the ground, and as the street, to them that go over.

1 "Escutem, vocês que procuram

a justiça,

vocês que buscam o Senhor:

olhem para a rocha

da qual vocês foram cortados

e para a pedreira

de onde foram tirados.

2 Olhem para Abraão, seu pai,

e para Sara, que os deu à luz.

Porque Abraão era um só,

quando eu o chamei,

o abençoei e o multipliquei.

3 Porque o Senhor terá piedade

de Sião;

terá piedade de todos

os seus lugares desolados.

Fará o seu deserto como o Éden,

e os seus lugares áridos,

como o jardim do Senhor.

Ali haverá júbilo e alegria,

ações de graças e som de música."

4 "Preste atenção, meu povo,

e escute, minha nação!

Porque de mim sairá a lei,

e estabelecerei o meu direito

como luz dos povos.

5 Perto está a minha justiça,

a minha salvação já aparece,

e os meus braços

dominarão os povos.

As terras do mar me aguardam

e no meu braço esperam.

6 Levantem os olhos para os céus

e olhem para a terra,

aqui embaixo!

Porque os céus desaparecerão

como a fumaça,

e a terra envelhecerá

como a roupa;

os seus moradores morrerão

como mosquitos,

mas a minha salvação

durará para sempre,

e a minha justiça

não será anulada."

7 "Escutem, vocês que conhecem

a justiça,

vocês, povo em cujo coração

está a minha lei:

não temam os insultos

dos homens,

nem fiquem assustados

por causa das suas zombarias.

8 Porque as traças os roerão

como fazem com a roupa,

e os bichos os comerão

como fazem com a lã.

Mas a minha justiça

durará para sempre,

e a minha salvação,

de geração em geração.

9 Desperta! Desperta,

braço do Senhor,

e arma-te de força!

Desperta como nos dias passados,

como nas gerações antigas!

Não és tu aquele que cortou

Raabe em pedaços

e feriu o monstro marinho?

10 Não és tu aquele

que secou o mar,

as águas do grande abismo?

Não abriste um caminho no fundo do mar,

para que passassem os remidos?

11 Os resgatados do Senhor

voltarão

e entrarão em Sião

com cânticos de júbilo.

Alegria eterna coroará

a sua cabeça.

Ficarão tomados

de júbilo e alegria,

e deles fugirão

a tristeza e o gemido."

12 "Eu, eu sou aquele

que os consola;

quem, então, é você,

para que tenha medo

do homem, que é mortal,

ou do filho do homem,

que não passa de erva?

13 Por que você se esquece

do Senhor, que o criou,

que estendeu os céus

e fundou a terra,

e todo o dia, sem cessar,

teme a fúria do opressor,

que se prepara para destruir?

Onde está a fúria do opressor?

14 O exilado cativo depressa

será libertado,

lá não morrerá,

lá não descerá à sepultura;

o seu pão não lhe faltará."

15 "Pois eu sou o Senhor, seu Deus,

que agito o mar,

de modo que bramem

as suas ondas.

O meu nome é

Senhor dos Exércitos.

16 Confio a você as minhas palavras

e o protejo com a sombra

da minha mão,

para que eu estenda os céus,

firme a terra e diga a Sião:

‘Você é o meu povo.’"

17 Acorde! Acorde e levante-se,

ó Jerusalém,

você que bebeu da mão do Senhor

o cálice da sua ira,

você que esgotou

o cálice de atordoamento.

18 De todos os filhos que ela teve

nenhum a guiou;

de todos os filhos que criou

nenhum a tomou pela mão.

19 Estas duas coisas

lhe sobrevieram,

mas quem teve

compaixão de você?

Houve destruição e ruína,

fome e espada,

mas quem veio consolar você?

20 Os seus filhos desmaiaram,

jazem nas esquinas

de todas as ruas,

como o antílope na rede.

Estão cheios da ira do Senhor

e da repreensão do seu Deus.

21 Por isso, agora escute isto,

você que está aflita e embriagada,

mas não de vinho.

22 Assim diz o seu Senhor,

o Senhor, seu Deus,

que defenderá a causa

do seu povo:

"Eis que eu tiro da sua mão

o cálice de atordoamento,

o cálice da minha ira.

Você nunca mais beberá dele.

23 Eu o porei nas mãos

dos que a atormentaram,

dos que lhe disseram:

‘Abaixe-se, para que passemos

por cima de você!’

E você pôs as suas costas

como chão

e como rua para os que passavam."
