1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. 2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name. 3 I have declared the former things from of old; yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them: suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. 4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; 5 therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. 6 Thou hast heard it; behold all this; and ye, will ye not declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, which thou hast not known. 7 They are created now, and not from of old; and before this day thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. 8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from of old thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou didst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. 9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. 11 For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do it; for how should my name be profaned? and my glory will I not give to another. 12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13 Yea, mine hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread out the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. 14 Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. 15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. 16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; from the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD hath sent me, and his spirit. 17 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the LORD thy God, which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. 18 Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: 19 thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains thereof: his name should not be cut off nor destroyed from before me. 20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth: say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. 22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

1 Escutem isto, casa de Jacó,

vocês que se chamam

pelo nome de Israel

e saíram da linhagem de Judá,

vocês que juram

pelo nome do Senhor

e confessam o Deus de Israel,

mas não em verdade

nem em justiça.

2 Da santa cidade tomam o nome

e se firmam sobre o Deus de Israel,

cujo nome é Senhor dos Exércitos.

3 "Desde a antiguidade

anunciei as primeiras coisas;

a minha boca as pronunciou,

e eu as fiz ouvir;

de repente agi,

e elas se cumpriram.

4 Porque eu sabia que

você era obstinado,

que o seu pescoço

é um tendão de ferro

e que a sua testa era de bronze.

5 Por isso, desde aquele tempo

eu lhe anunciei essas coisas

e as dei a conhecer

antes que acontecessem,

para que você não dissesse:

‘O meu ídolo fez estas coisas’;

ou: ‘A minha imagem de escultura

e a minha imagem de fundição

as ordenaram.’"

6 "Você já ouviu; agora olhe bem

para tudo isto;

será que você não vai admitir

que falei a verdade?

Desde agora lhe anuncio

coisas novas e ocultas,

que você não conhecia.

7 Foram criadas agora

e não há muito tempo,

e antes deste dia você não tinha

ouvido falar nelas,

para que você não diga:

‘Sim, eu já sabia.’

8 Você não ouviu, não conheceu,

nem tampouco antecipadamente

se abriram os seus ouvidos,

porque eu sabia que

você não é nada confiável

e é chamado de transgressor

desde o ventre materno."

9 "Por amor do meu nome,

retardarei a minha ira

e, por causa da minha honra,

me conterei em relação a você,

para que eu não venha

a exterminá-lo.

10 Eis que refinei você,

mas não como a prata;

eu o provei na fornalha da aflição.

11 Por amor de mim,

por amor de mim

é que faço isto;

pois como seria profanado

o meu nome?

Não darei a mais ninguém

a minha glória."

12 "Escute, ó Jacó,

e também você, Israel,

a quem chamei:

Eu sou o mesmo, sou o primeiro

e também o último.

13 Também a minha mão

fundou a terra,

e a minha mão direita

estendeu os céus;

quando eu os chamar,

eles se apresentarão juntos."

14 "Reúnam-se, todos vocês,

e escutem!

Quem, dentre eles,

anunciou estas coisas?

Aquele a quem o Senhor amou

executará a sua vontade

contra a Babilônia,

e o seu braço será

contra os caldeus.

15 Eu, eu tenho falado;

também já o chamei.

Eu o trouxe e farei próspero

o seu caminho.

16 Aproximem-se de mim

e escutem isto:

desde o princípio,

não falei em segredo;

desde o tempo em que isso

vem acontecendo,

tenho estado lá."

"Agora, o Senhor Deus

enviou a mim

e o seu Espírito."

17 Assim diz o Senhor,

o seu Redentor,

o Santo de Israel:

"Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus,

que lhe ensina o que é útil

e o guia pelo caminho

em que você deve andar.

18 Ah! Se você tivesse dado ouvidos

aos meus mandamentos!

Então a sua paz seria como um rio,

e a sua justiça,

como as ondas do mar.

19 Também a sua posteridade

seria como a areia,

e os seus descendentes,

como os grãos da areia;

o seu nome nunca seria eliminado

nem destruído de diante de mim."

20 Saiam da Babilônia,

fujam do meio dos caldeus!

Anunciem isto com voz de júbilo;

proclamem e levem

esta boa notícia

até os confins da terra.

Digam: "O Senhor remiu

o seu servo Jacó."

21 Não padeceram sede,

quando ele os levava

pelos desertos;

fez brotar para eles água da rocha;

fendeu a pedra, e a água jorrou.

22 "Mas para os ímpios

não há paz",

diz o Senhor.
