Profecia contra os filisteus

1 A palavra que da parte de Jeová veio a Jeremias acerca dos *Jr 25.17,20;Am 1.6-8;Sf 2.4-7;Zc 9.5-7filisteus, antes que Faraó ferisse a *Jr 25.20;Gn 10.19;1Rs 4.24Gaza.

2 Assim diz Jeová: Eis que *Jr 1.14;6.22;46.20,24;Is 14.31do norte se levantam as águas, e se converterão em torrente trasbordante, e *Is 8.7-8trasbordarão a terra e quanto há nela, a cidade e os que nela habitam; os homens *Jr 46.12;Is 15.2-5clamarão, e todos os habitantes da terra uivarão. 3 Ao som do *Jr 8.16;Jz 5.22bater dos pés dos seus cavalos, ao *Ez 26.10-11;Na 3.2estrépito dos seus carros, ao estrondo das suas rodas, os pais não atendem aos filhos por serem fracas as suas mãos; 4 e porque vem vindo o dia para *Is 14.31despojar a todos os filisteus, de exterminar de *Jr 25.20-22;Is 23.5-6,11;Jl 3.4;Am 1.9-10;Zc 9.2-4Tiro e de Sidom a todos os aliados que ficarem; pois Jeová despojará os filisteus, ao resto da ilha de *Gn 10.14;Dt 2.23;Am 9.7Caftor. 5 *Jr 48.37;Mq 1.16A calvície é vinda sobre Gaza; *Jr 25.20;Jz 1.18;Am 1.7-8;Sf 2.4,7;Zc 9.5Asquelom é reduzida a nada, bem como o resto do seu vale; até quando *Jr 16.6;41.5te sarjarás? 6 Ó *Jr 12.12;Jz 7.20;Ez 21.3-5espada de Jeová, *Jr 4.21até quando deixarás de repousar? 1 Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.

2 Yahweh says:

"Behold, waters rise up out of the north,

and will become an overflowing stream,

and will overflow the land and all that is therein,

the city and those who dwell therein.

The men will cry,

and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.

3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones,

at the rushing of his chariots,

at the rumbling of his wheels,

the fathers don’t look back for their children

because their hands are so feeble,

4 because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines,

to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains;

for Yahweh will destroy the Philistines,

the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

5 Baldness has come on Gaza;

Ashkelon is brought to nothing.

You remnant of their valley,

how long will you cut yourself?

6 "‘You sword of Yahweh, how long will it be before you are quiet?

Put yourself back into your scabbard;

rest, and be still.’

7 "How can you be quiet,

since Yahweh has given you a command?

Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore,

there he has appointed it."
