Profecia acerca da destruição de Babilônia e libertação de Israel

1 A palavra que falou Jeová acerca de *Jr 20.4-6;Gn 10.10;11.9;2Rs 17.24;Is 13.1;Dn 1.1;Ap 14.8Babilônia, acerca da terra dos caldeus, por meio do profeta Jeremias.

2 *Jr 4.16Anunciai entre as nações e publicai, e *Jr 51.27arvorai um estandarte; publicai e não encubrais; dizei: *Jr 51.31Tomada está Babilônia, *Is 46.1envergonhado Bel, espantado Merodaque; envergonhadas estão *Jr 51.47as suas imagens, espantados os seus ídolos. 3 Pois do *Jr 50.9;Jr 51.11,27;Is 13.17norte vem contra ela uma nação, que tornará a sua terra *Jr 50.13;Is 14.22-23em desolação, e ninguém habitará nela; tanto os homens como os animais já *Jr 9.10;Sf 1.3fugiram e se foram. 4 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, diz Jeová, virão os filhos de Israel, *Jr 3.18;31.31;33.7;Is 11.12-13;Os 1.11juntamente com os filhos de Judá, seguirão o seu caminho *Jr 31.9;Ed 3.12-13chorando, e buscarão a Jeová seu Deus. 5 Tendo os seus rostos voltados para lá, *Jr 6.16;Is 35.8indagarão acerca de Sião, dizendo: Vinde, e uni-vos a Jeová com uma *Jr 32.40;Is 55.3;Hb 8.6-10aliança sempiterna que nunca será esquecida.

6 *Is 53.6;Ez 34.15-16;Mt 9.36;10.6Ovelhas perdidas têm sido o meu povo; *Jr 23.11-14os seus pastores fizeram-nas errar, e voltar aos *Jr 13.16;Ez 34.6montes; do monte passaram ao outeiro, esqueceram-se do *Jr 50.19;Jr 33.12lugar do seu repouso. 7 *Jr 50.17Todos os que os acharam, os devoraram, e os seus adversários disseram: Não somos culpados; porque *Jr 40.2-3pecaram contra Jeová, *Jr 31.23morada de justiça, contra Jeová, *Jr 14.8;17.13esperança de seus pais. 8 *Jr 50.28;Jr 51.6Fugi do meio de Babilônia, e saí da terra dos caldeus, e sede como os bodes que vão adiante dos rebanhos. 9 Pois eis que *Jr 51.1-2suscitarei e farei vir da *Jr 50.3terra boreal contra Babilônia uma assembleia de grandes nações; *Jr 50.14,29por-se-ão em ordem contra ela, e dali será ela tomada. As suas flechas serão as de um valente perito que não tornará vazio. 10 *Jr 51.24,35;Ez 11.24Caldeia servirá de presa; e todos os que a despojaram, serão fartos, diz Jeová.

11 Porquanto vos alegrais, porquanto vos regozijais, ó vós que *Jr 12.14saqueais a minha herança, porquanto estais soltos como *Jr 46.20novilha que pisa o trigo, e rinchais como ginetes; 12 mui envergonhada será *Jr 15.9vossa mãe, confundida será a que vos deu à luz; eis que será a última das nações, *Jr 22.6;51.43erma, terra árida, e deserta. 13 Por causa do furor de Jeová *Jr 25.12;34.22não será habitada, mas será *Jr 50.3;Jr 51.36de todo desolada; todo o que passar por Babilônia, *Jr 18.16;49.17se espantará e assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas. 14 *Jr 50.29Ponde-vos em ordem contra Babilônia ao redor, todos vós os que armais o arco; atirai-lhe, não poupeis as flechas; porque ela tem *Hc 2.8,17pecado contra Jeová. 15 *Jr 51.14Gritai contra ela ao redor; *1Cr 29.24ela se submeteu, caídos estão os seus baluartes, derrubados *Jr 51.44,58os seus muros. Pois é *Jr 50.29;Jr 46.10vingança de Jeová; tomai vingança dela: *Jr 50.29;Sl 137.8como ela tem feito, assim fazei-lhe a ela. 16 Exterminai de Babilônia *Jl 1.11o que semeia e o que maneja a foice no tempo da ceifa; por causa da *Jr 25.38;46.16espada opressora *Jr 51.9;Is 13.14tornarão cada um para o seu povo, e fugirão, cada um para a sua terra.

17 Israel é *Jr 50.6ovelha desgarrada que *Jr 2.15;4.7os leões afugentaram: *Jr 50.7devorou-o primeiro o *2Rs 15.29;17.6;18.9-13rei da Assíria, e por fim este *2Rs 24.1,10-12;25.1-7Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, quebrou-lhe os ossos. 18 Portanto assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que *Is 10.12;Ez 31.3,11-12;Na 1.1;3.7,18-19castigarei o rei de Babilônia e a sua terra, como castiguei o rei da Assíria. 19 *Jr 31.10;33.12Farei voltar Israel para a sua morada, e pastará no Carmelo e em Basã, e a sua alma se fartará nos *Jr 31.5outeiros de Efraim e de Gileade. 20 Naqueles dias e naquele tempo, diz Jeová, buscar-se-á a iniquidade de Israel, *Jr 31.34;Is 43.25;Mq 7.19e não a haverá mais; e os pecados de Judá, e não se acharão: pois *Jr 33.8;Is 1.9;Rm 9.26-27perdoarei aos que eu reservar.

21 Sobe à terra de Merataim, sobe contra ela e contra os habitantes de *Ez 23.23Pécode; mata e de todo destrói após eles, diz Jeová, *Jr 48.10e faze conforme tudo o que te ordenei. 22 Na terra há som de guerra, e de grande destruição*Jr 4.19-21;51.54-56. 23 Como está partido e quebrado *Jr 51.20-24o martelo de toda a terra! como se tornou Babilônia um espetáculo horrendo entre as nações! 24 Eu te *Jr 48.43-44;51.31enredei, e foste também *Dn 5.30-31tomada, ó Babilônia, e tu não o soubeste; estás surpreendida e também apanhada, porque tens *Jó 9.4;40.2,9provocado a Jeová. 25 Jeová acaba de abrir o seu arsenal, e tirar dele as *Is 13.5armas da sua indignação; porque o Senhor, Jeová dos Exércitos, *Jr 50.15;Jr 51.12,25,55tem que fazer na terra dos caldeus. 26 Vinde contra ela *Jr 50.41de todos os lados, *Jr 50.10;Is 45.3abri os seus celeiros, fazei dela montões, *Is 14.23e destruí-a de todo; não fique dela resto algum. 27 *Is 34.7Matai a todos os seus novilhos; *Jr 48.15desçam eles ao degoladouro: ai deles! pois é chegado o *Jr 46.21;Sl 37.13;Ez 7.7seu dia, o tempo da sua visitação. 28 Eis *Is 48.20a voz dos que *Jr 50.8;Jr 51.6fogem e escapam da terra de Babilônia para anunciar em Sião *Jr 50.15;Jr 51.10;Sl 149.6-9a vingança de Jeová, nosso Deus, a vingança do seu *Lm 1.10;2.6-7templo.

29 *Jr 50.14Convocai contra Babilônia os flecheiros, todos os que armam o arco; acampai-vos contra ela em redor; e não escape ninguém. Pagai-lhe *Jr 50.15;Jr 51.56;Sl 137.8conforme a sua obra; conforme tudo o que ela tem feito, assim lhe fazei a ela; porque se houve *Jr 49.16;Êx 10.3;Dn 4.37arrogantemente contra Jeová, contra o Santo de Israel. 30 Por isso os *Jr 9.21;18.21;49.26;Is 13.17-18seus mancebos cairão nas suas ruas, e todos os seus homens de guerra serão *Jr 51.56-57reduzidos ao silêncio naquele dia, diz Jeová. 31 Eis *Jr 21.13;Na 2.13que sou contra ti, ó orgulhosa, diz o Senhor, Jeová dos Exércitos: pois é chegado o teu dia, o tempo em que te visitarei. 32 A *Is 10.12-15orgulhosa tropeçará, e cairá, e ninguém a levantará; e *Jr 21.14;49.27acenderei fogo nas suas cidades, que devorará todos os que estão ao redor dela.

33 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá juntamente sofrem opressão; e *Is 14.17;58.6todos os que os levaram cativos, os retêm; recusam deixá-los ir. 34 O *Jr 15.21;31.11;Is 43.14redentor deles é forte; *Jr 32.18;51.19Jeová dos Exércitos é o seu nome; certamente *Jr 51.36;Mq 7.9defenderá em juízo a causa deles, para *Is 14.3-7dar descanso à terra, e para inquietar os habitantes de Babilônia. 35 A *Jr 47.6;Os 11.6espada está sobre os caldeus, diz Jeová, e sobre os habitantes de Babilônia, e sobre os seus *Dn 5.1-2,30príncipes, e sobre os seus *Dn 5.7-8sábios. 36 A espada está sobre os *Is 44.25paroleiros, e eles ficarão insensatos; a espada está sobre os seus *Jr 49.22valentes, e eles serão *Na 3.13espantados. 37 A espada está sobre os *Jr 51.21-22;Sl 20.7-8seus cavalos, e sobre os seus carros, e sobre todo *Jr 25.20;Ez 30.5o povo misto que se acha no meio dela, e eles tornar-se-ão *Jr 48.41;51.30como mulheres; a espada está sobre os seus tesouros, e eles serão roubados. 38 A *Jr 51.36seca está sobre as suas águas, e elas secarão; pois é terra de *Jr 50.2;Is 46.1,6,7imagens esculpidas, e pelos seus ídolos fazem-se loucos. 39 Portanto *Jr 51.37;Is 13.21-22feras do deserto juntamente com lobos habitarão ali, e morarão nela avestruzes e nunca mais será habitada, *Is 13.20nem servirá de moradia de geração em geração. 40 Como quando Deus subverteu *Jr 49.13;Lc 17.28-30;2Pe 2.6;Jd 7a Sodoma e a Gomorra e as suas cidades vizinhas, diz Jeová, não habitará ali homem, nem nela peregrinará filho de homem.

41 *Jr 6.22-24Eis que um povo vem *Jr 50.3,9;Jr 51.27-28;Is 13.2-5do norte; e uma grande nação e muitos reis serão suscitados dos últimos confins da terra. 42 Armam-se de arco e de lança; *Is 13.17-18;47.6são cruéis, e não têm piedade; a voz deles *Is 5.30brama como o mar, e montam *Jr 8.16;47.3;Hc 1.8em cavalos, cada um *Jr 50.9,14;Jl 2.5posto em ordem, como homem para a batalha, contra ti, ó filha de Babilônia. 43 Já ouviu o *Jr 51.31rei de Babilônia a fama deles, e desfalecem as suas mãos; dele se apoderou a *Jr 30.6angústia, e dores como as da mulher que está de parto. 44 *Jr 49.19-21Eis que subirá um inimigo, como leão, da soberba do Jordão contra a morada forte; mas de repente o farei correr dela; quem for *Nm 16.5escolhido, pô-lo-ei sobre ela. Pois quem *Is 46.9há semelhante a mim? quem me fixará um prazo? e quem é o pastor que *Jr 30.21;Jó 41.10me poderá resistir. 45 Portanto ouvi *Jr 51.10-11;Is 14.24o conselho de Jeová, que tomou contra Babilônia, e os desígnios que formou contra a terra dos caldeus: *Jr 49.20certamente eles, os mais pequenos do rebanho, serão arrastados; certamente a sua habitação será espantada por causa deles. 46 Ao estrondo da tomada de Babilônia, *Jr 10.10;49.21;Ez 26.18;31.16estremece a terra; e ouve-se entre as nações *Jr 46.12;51.54;Is 5.7;15.5;Ez 27.28o grito.

1 The word that Yahweh spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by Jeremiah the prophet.

2 "Declare among the nations and publish,

and set up a standard;

publish, and don’t conceal;

say, ‘Babylon has been taken,

Bel is disappointed,

Merodach is dismayed!

Her images are disappointed.

Her idols are dismayed.’

3 For a nation comes up out of the north against her,

which will make her land desolate,

and no one will dwell in it.

They have fled.

They are gone,

both man and animal.

4 "In those days, and in that time," says Yahweh,

"the children of Israel will come,

they and the children of Judah together;

they will go on their way weeping,

and will seek Yahweh their God.

5 They will inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it,

saying, ‘Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant

that will not be forgotten.’

6 My people have been lost sheep.

Their shepherds have caused them to go astray.

They have turned them away on the mountains.

They have gone from mountain to hill.

They have forgotten their resting place.

7 All who found them have devoured them.

Their adversaries said, ‘We are not guilty,

because they have sinned against Yahweh,

the habitation of righteousness,

even Yahweh, the hope of their fathers.’

8 "Flee out of the middle of Babylon!

Go out of the land of the Chaldeans,

and be as the male goats before the flocks.

9 For, behold, I will stir up

and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country;

and they will set themselves in array against her.

She will be taken from there.

Their arrows will be as of an expert mighty man.

None of them will return in vain.

10 Chaldea will be a prey.

All who prey on her will be satisfied," says Yahweh.

11 "Because you are glad,

because you rejoice,

O you who plunder my heritage,

because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain,

and neigh as strong horses,

12 your mother will be utterly disappointed.

She who bore you will be confounded.

Behold, she will be the least of the nations,

a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

13 Because of Yahweh’s wrath she won’t be inhabited,

but she will be wholly desolate.

Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished,

and hiss at all her plagues.

14 Set yourselves in array against Babylon all around,

all you who bend the bow;

shoot at her.

Spare no arrows,

for she has sinned against Yahweh.

15 Shout against her all around.

She has submitted herself.

Her bulwarks have fallen.

Her walls have been thrown down,

for it is the vengeance of Yahweh.

Take vengeance on her.

As she has done, do to her.

16 Cut off the sower from Babylon,

and him who handles the sickle in the time of harvest.

For fear of the oppressing sword,

they will each return to their own people,

and they will each flee to their own land.

17 "Israel is a hunted sheep.

The lions have driven him away.

First, the king of Assyria devoured him,

and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones."

18 Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says:

"Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land,

as I have punished the king of Assyria.

19 I will bring Israel again to his pasture,

and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan.

His soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.

20 In those days, and in that time," says Yahweh,

"the iniquity of Israel will be sought for,

and there will be none,

also the sins of Judah,

and they won’t be found;

for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant.

21 "Go up against the land of Merathaim,

even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod.

Kill and utterly destroy after them," says Yahweh,

"and do according to all that I have commanded you.

22 A sound of battle is in the land,

and of great destruction.

23 How the hammer of the whole earth is cut apart and broken!

How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations!

24 I have laid a snare for you,

and you are also taken, Babylon,

and you weren’t aware.

You are found,

and also caught,

because you have fought against Yahweh.

25 Yahweh has opened his armory,

and has brought out the weapons of his indignation;

for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.

26 Come against her from the farthest border.

Open her storehouses.

Cast her up as heaps.

Destroy her utterly.

Let nothing of her be left.

27 Kill all her bulls.

Let them go down to the slaughter.

Woe to them! For their day has come,

the time of their visitation.

28 Listen to those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon,

to declare in Zion the vengeance of Yahweh our God,

the vengeance of his temple.

29 "Call together the archers against Babylon,

all those who bend the bow.

Encamp against her all around.

Let none of it escape.

Pay her back according to her work.

According to all that she has done, do to her;

for she has been proud against Yahweh,

against the Holy One of Israel.

30 Therefore her young men will fall in her streets.

All her men of war will be brought to silence in that day," says Yahweh.

31 "Behold, I am against you, you proud one," says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies;

"for your day has come,

the time that I will visit you.

32 The proud one will stumble and fall,

and no one will raise him up.

I will kindle a fire in his cities,

and it will devour all who are around him."

33 Yahweh of Armies says: "The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together.

All who took them captive hold them fast.

They refuse to let them go.

34 Their Redeemer is strong.

Yahweh of Armies is his name.

He will thoroughly plead their cause,

that he may give rest to the earth,

and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

35 "A sword is on the Chaldeans," says Yahweh,

"and on the inhabitants of Babylon,

on her princes,

and on her wise men.

36 A sword is on the boasters,

and they will become fools.

A sword is on her mighty men,

and they will be dismayed.

37 A sword is on their horses,

on their chariots,

and on all the mixed people who are in the middle of her;

and they will become as women.

A sword is on her treasures,

and they will be robbed.

38 A drought is on her waters,

and they will be dried up;

for it is a land of engraved images,

and they are mad over idols.

39 Therefore the wild animals of the desert

with the wolves will dwell there.

The ostriches will dwell therein.

It will be inhabited no more forever,

neither will it be lived in from generation to generation.

40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities," says Yahweh,

"so no man will dwell there,

neither will any son of man live therein.

41 "Behold, a people comes from the north.

A great nation and many kings will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

42 They take up bow and spear.

They are cruel, and have no mercy.

Their voice roars like the sea.

They ride on horses,

everyone set in array,

as a man to the battle,
