1 Ο Κύριος έδωσε εντολή στο Μωυσή: 2 να πει στον Ααρών και στους γιους του:

«Οι ιερείς πρέπει να προσέχουν τις άγιες προσφορές και να μη βεβηλώνουν το άγιο μου όνομα. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος. 3 Όποιος από τους απογόνους σας, σε οποιαδήποτε γενιά, πλησιάσει, ενώ θα είναι ακάθαρτος, τις ιερές προσφορές που αφιερώνουν οι Ισραηλίτες στον Κύριο, αυτός ο άνθρωπος θ’ αποκλεισθεί από την υπηρεσία ενώπιόν μου. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος.

4 »Όποιος από τους απογόνους του Ααρών είναι λεπρός ή έχει οποιαδήποτε ρεύση, δεν επιτρέπεται να φάει από τις ιερές προσφορές ωσότου καθαριστεί. Το ίδιο και όποιος αγγίξει κάποιον που είναι ακάθαρτος, επειδή ήρθε σ’ επαφή με νεκρό σώμα ή όποιος έπαθε εκσπερμάτωση. 5 Επίσης όποιος άγγιξε κάποιο ερπετό ή έναν ακάθαρτο άνθρωπο και μολύνθηκε. 6 Όποιος είχε τέτοιες επαφές, θα είναι ακάθαρτος ως το βράδυ· δεν επιτρέπεται να φάει από τις ιερές προσφορές, παρά μόνο αφού πλύνει το σώμα του με νερό. 7 Μόλις δύσει ο ήλιος, θα είναι καθαρός και μπορεί να φάει από τις ιερές προσφορές, γιατί αυτές είναι η τροφή του. 8 Δεν επιτρέπεται να φάει ζώο που ψόφησε ή κατασπαράχθηκε, για να μη μολυνθεί απ’ αυτό. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος.

9 »Οι ιερείς οφείλουν να τηρούν τις άγιες εντολές μου· διαφορετικά, αν τις παρακούσουν, θα αμαρτήσουν και θα πεθάνουν. Εγώ ο Κύριος είμαι που τους αγιάζω.

10 »Όποιος δεν είναι ιερέας δεν επιτρέπεται να φάει από την ιερή προσφορά· ούτε ο συγκάτοικός του ούτε ο μισθωτός του επιτρέπεται να φάνε απ’ αυτήν. 11 Ο δούλος του όμως, που ο ιερέας τον έχει αγοράσει με χρήματα ή έχει γεννηθεί στο σπίτι του, επιτρέπεται να τρώει από την τροφή που δίδεται στον ιερέα. 12 Η κόρη του ιερέα, αν έχει παντρευτεί λαϊκό, αυτή δεν επιτρέπεται να τρώει από το μερίδιο που προέρχεται από τις άγιες προσφορές. 13 Αν όμως είναι χήρα ή χωρισμένη χωρίς παιδιά κι έχει γυρίσει και μένει στο πατρικό της, όπως πριν παντρευτεί, τότε επιτρέπεται να τρώει από την τροφή που δίδεται στον πατέρα της. Κανένας ξένος όμως δεν επιτρέπεται να τρώει απ’ αυτήν.

14 »Αν κάποιος χωρίς να το προσέξει, φάει από την ιερή προσφορά, θα επιστρέψει την αξία της στον ιερέα, αυξημένη κατά το ένα πέμπτο. 15 Οι ιερείς δεν πρέπει να βεβηλώνουν τις άγιες προσφορές των Ισραηλιτών προς τον Κύριο, 16 αφήνοντας να τις τρώει ένας άσχετος άνθρωπος· αυτό θα έφερνε ενοχή και τιμωρία σ’ αυτόν τον άνθρωπο. Επειδή εγώ, ο Κύριος, είμαι που τους αγιάζω».

17 Ο Κύριος έδωσε εντολή στο Μωυσή 18 να πει στον Ααρών, στους γιους του και σ’ όλους τους Ισραηλίτες:

«Όταν ένας Ισραηλίτης ή ένας ξένος, που ζει ανάμεσά σας, προσφέρει θυσία ολοκαυτώματος στον Κύριο, είτε ως τάμα είτε ως προαιρετική προσφορά, 19 αν θέλει να ευαρεστήσει το Θεό, τότε πρέπει να προσφέρει ένα αρσενικό ζώο χωρίς ελάττωμα, βόδι, πρόβατο ή κατσίκι. 20 Δεν πρέπει να προσφέρει ελαττωματικό ζώο, γιατί αυτό δεν θα ήταν ευπρόσδεκτο. 21 Αν κάποιος προσφέρει θυσία κοινωνίας στον Κύριο, είτε ως εκπλήρωση τάματος είτε ως προαιρετική προσφορά, βόδι πρόβατο ή κατσίκι, το ζώο πρέπει να μην έχει κανένα σωματικό ελάττωμα για να είναι ευπρόσδεκτο. 22 Δεν θα προσφέρετε στον Κύριο ζώο τυφλό, ανάπηρο ή ακρωτηριασμένο, ζώο με πληγές, με ψώρα ή λειχήνα· τέτοια ζώα δεν επιτρέπεται να τα προσφέρετε στο θυσιαστήριο ως θυσία που γίνεται με φωτιά στον Κύριο. 23 Ένα βόδι ή ένα πρόβατο με ένα μέλος μακρύτερο ή κοντύτερο από το φυσικό, αυτό μπορείτε να το προσφέρετε ως προαιρετική προσφορά. Αν όμως πρόκειται για τάξιμο, δε θα είναι ευπρόσδεκτο. 24 Ζώο, που τα γεννητικά του όργανα είναι χτυπημένα, σπασμένα, σκισμένα ή κομμένα, δεν πρέπει να το προσφέρετε στον Κύριο. Αυτό δεν επιτρέπεται να γίνεται στη χώρα σας. 25 Δεν πρέπει να προσφέρετε ως τροφή του Θεού σας κανένα απ’ αυτά τα ζώα που θα σας τα έδινε ένας ξένος· ο ακρωτηριασμός τους αποτελεί ελάττωμα και η προσφορά σας δε θα είναι ευπρόσδεκτη».

26 Ο Κύριος είπε επίσης στο Μωυσή: 27 «Όταν γεννιέται ένα μοσχάρι, ένα αρνί ή ένα κατσίκι, θα μένει κοντά στη μάνα του εφτά μέρες. Από την όγδοη μέρα και μετά θα είναι ευπρόσδεκτο να προσφερθεί ως θυσία, που γίνεται με φωτιά στον Κύριο. 28 Δεν επιτρέπεται να θυσιάζετε αγελάδα ή πρόβατο μαζί με το νεογνό τους, την ίδια μέρα. 29 Αν θέλετε να προσφέρετε ευχαριστήρια θυσία στον Κύριο, πρέπει να την προσφέρετε με τρόπο που να γίνεστε ευπρόσδεκτοι. 30 Πρέπει να την τρώτε την ίδια μέρα, και να μην αφήνετε τίποτε απ’ αυτήν ως το άλλο πρωί. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος.

31 »Να τηρείτε τις εντολές μου στην πράξη. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος. 32 Να μη βεβηλώνετε το άγιο όνομά μου, αλλά όλος ο λαός του Ισραήλ ν’ αναγνωρίζει την αγιότητά μου. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος, εγώ είμαι που σας αγιάζω, 33 και που σας έβγαλα από την Αίγυπτο, για να είμαι ο Θεός σας. Εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος».

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. 3 Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. 4 What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;*22.4 running…: Heb. running of the reins 5 Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath; 6 The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water. 7 And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food. 8 That which dieth of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith: I am the LORD. 9 They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.

10 There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. 11 But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.*22.11 with…: Heb. with the purchase of his money 12 If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.*22.12 a stranger: Heb. a man a stranger 13 But if the priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s meat: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.

14 And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing. 15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD; 16 Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.*22.16 suffer…: or, lade themselves with the iniquity of trespass in their eating

17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18 Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering; 19 Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats. 20 But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you. 21 And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.*22.21 sheep: or, goats 22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD. 23 Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.*22.23 lamb: or, kid 24 Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land. 25 Neither from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.

26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 28 And whether it be cow or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.*22.28 ewe: or, she goat 29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will. 30 On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD. 31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD. 32 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you, 33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD.
