1 Στον πρωτοψάλτη, για μουθ-λαββέν.*μουθ-λαββέν. Η ακριβής έννοια είναι άγνωστη. Εκ παραδόσεως έχει ερμηνευτεί ότι σημαίνει «ο θάνατος του παιδιού». Πιθανόν όμως να σημαίνει «για ψηλές φωνές αγοριών». Ψαλμός του Δαβίδ.

2 Μ’ όλη μου, Κύριε, την καρδιά θα σε δοξολογήσω·

τα έργα σου τα θαυμαστά

όλα θα τα ιστορήσω.

3 Θα ευφρανθώ και θα χαρώ μ’ εσένα, Ύψιστε·

την ύπαρξή σου θ’ ανυμνήσω,

4 Οι εχθροί μου όλοι θα υποχωρήσουνε,

θα σκύψουν, θα εξαφανιστούν από μπροστά σου.

5 Το δίκιο μου και την υπόθεσή μου υποστήριξες,

όταν σε θρόνο κάθισες δίκαιου κριτή.

6 Τους άλλους τους λαούς τους εξουθένωσες,

ξολόθρεψες τον ασεβή·

την ύπαρξή του για πάντα εξαφάνισες.

7 Η εξόντωση του εχθρού ολοκληρώθηκε,

τις πόλεις του ισοπέδωσες·

κανένας πια δεν τις θυμάται.

8 Ο Κύριος όμως μένει αιώνια·

το θρόνο του για κρίση ετοιμάζει.

9 Κι αυτός την οικουμένη θα την κρίνει δίκαια·

αμερόληπτα θα κρίνει τους λαούς.

10 Ο Κύριος είναι η προστασία του φτωχού,

στους δύσκολους καιρούς το καταφύγιο.

11 Κι όσοι την ύπαρξή σου ξέρουν,

σ’ εσένα ελπίζουν, Κύριε,

γιατί δεν εγκατέλειψες

αυτούς που σε ζητάνε.

12 Ψάλτε στον Κύριο, που μένει στη Σιών·

κηρύξτε στους λαούς τα θαυμαστά του έργα.

13 Επειδή τους θυμήθηκε,

όταν την αιματοχυσία τιμώρησε·

δεν ξέχασε των καταπιεσμένων την κραυγή.

14 Ελέησέ με, Κύριε·

δες την κατάντια όπου μ’ έφεραν οι εχθροί μου,

εσύ που με αποτραβάς

από τις πύλες του άδη,

15 για να ιστορήσω στης Ιερουσαλήμ τις πύλες

όλα τα έργα σου τα θαυμαστά.

Θ’ αναγαλλιάσω για τη σωτηρία

που εσύ μου δίνεις.

16 Τα έθνη πέσαν μες στο λάκκο που έσκαψαν·

μες στην κρυμμένη τους παγίδα

πιάστηκε το πόδι τους.

17 Ο Κύριος γνωρίζεται

από τη δίκαιη που κάνει κρίση·

και παγιδεύεται ο ασεβής

απ’ των χεριών του το έργο.

18 Στον άδη θα επιστρέψουν οι ασεβείς·

τα έθνη αυτά που το Θεό ξεχνάνε.

19 Γιατί δε θα λησμονηθεί ποτέ ο φτωχός·

ποτέ δε χάνεται των δύστυχων η ελπίδα.

20 Σήκω, Κύριε!

Ας μην υπερισχύσει ο άνθρωπος·

και από σένα οι εθνικοί ας κριθούνε.

21 Δώσε τους φόβο, Κύριε!

Οι ειδωλολάτρες

ας νιώσουνε πως είναι άνθρωποι.

1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.

7 But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
