1 Κοίταξα πάλι ψηλά και είδα τέσσερις πολεμικές άμαξες, που έβγαιναν ανάμεσα από δυο βουνά. Τα βουνά ήταν χάλκινα.*Τα βουνά ήταν χάλκινα. Στη βαβυλωνιακή μυθολογία τα δύο χάλκινα βουνά ήταν η είσοδος του ουρανού.2 Στην πρώτη άμαξα ήταν ζεμένα άλογα καστανά, στη δεύτερη άλογα μαύρα, 3 στην τρίτη άλογα λευκά και στην τέταρτη άμαξα άλογα με βούλες κόκκινες. Ήταν όλα τους άλογα δυνατά.

4 Τότε ρώτησα τον άγγελο, που μιλούσε μαζί μου: «Τι σημαίνουν αυτά, κύριέ μου;» 5 Κι εκείνος μου απάντησε: «Αυτά είναι οι τέσσερις άνεμοι. Είχαν μείνει κοντά στον Κύριο όλης της γης και τώρα φεύγουν. 6 Η άμαξα με τα μαύρα άλογα πήγε προς το βορρά, τα άσπρα άλογα φύγανε προς τη δύση και κατά το νότο φύγανε τα παρδαλά». 7 Τα καστανά άλογα προχώρησαν και γύρεψαν να διατρέξουνε τη γη. Τότε τους είπε ο Κύριος: «Εμπρός διατρέξτε όλη τη γη!» Έτσι κι έκαναν.

8 Μετά ο άγγελος με κάλεσε και μου είπε: «Κοίτα αυτά που φύγαν προς τη χώρα του βορρά· θα φέρουνε το Πνεύμα του Κυρίου εκεί».*Κοίτα... εκεί. Οι άμαξες παριστάνουν τους αγγελιοφόρους του Θεού, που θα καλέσουν πίσω στη χώρα τους τους εξόριστους Ιουδαίους, ιδιαίτερα εκείνους που βρίσκονταν στη Βαβυλώνα.

9 Ο Κύριος μου είπε: 10 «Πήγαινε στο σπίτι του Ιωσία, γιου του Σοφονία, κι εκεί θα βρεις το Χελδία, τον Τωβία και τον Ιεδαΐα, που μόλις ήρθαν από την αιχμαλωσία της Βαβυλώνας· πάρε απ’ αυτούς τα δώρα που έφεραν. 11 Πάρε ακόμα το ασήμι και το χρυσάφι και κάνε ένα στέμμα, και βάλε το στο κεφάλι του αρχιερέα Ιησού, γιου του Ιωσαδάκ, 12 και πες του ότι ο Κύριος του σύμπαντος λέει: "νάτος ο άνθρωπος, που τ’ όνομά του είναι «Βλαστός».*Βλαστός. Βλ. υποσ. εις κεφ. 3:8. Στον τόπο του θα βλαστήσει και το ναό θα ξαναχτίσει του Κυρίου. 13 Σίγουρα αυτός είναι που θα τον ξαναχτίσει και θ’ αποκτήσει βασιλικά εμβλήματα· θα κάθεται στο θρόνο του και θα εξουσιάζει. Ο αρχιερέας θα στέκεται πλάι στο θρόνο, κι ανάμεσα στους δυο τους θα υπάρχει ομοφωνία απόλυτη. 14 Το στέμμα θα τοποθετηθεί στου Κυρίου το ναό, για να θυμούνται το Χελδία,*Χελδία. Εδώ το εβρ. έχει «Χέλεμ», πιθανώς το επίσημο όνομα του ίδιου προσώπου. τον Τωβία και τον Ιεδαΐα, και τη φιλοξενία την πλούσια από το γιο του το Σοφονία. 15 Και αυτοί που ακόμη βρίσκονται μακριά, θα ’ρθούν και θα βοηθήσουν στην ανοικοδόμηση του ναού του Κυρίου"».

Τότε θα καταλάβετε ότι ο Κύριος του σύμπαντος μ’ έστειλε σ’ εσάς. Κι αυτό ασφαλώς θα γίνει αν υπακούσετε στη φωνή του Κυρίου, του Θεού σας.

1 And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. 2 In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; 3 And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.*6.3 bay: or, strong 4 Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? 5 And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.*6.5 spirits: or, winds 6 The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country. 7 And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. 8 Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

9 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah; 11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; 12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:*6.12 grow…: or, branch up from under him 13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. 14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. 15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
