1 Κοίταξα πάλι ψηλά και είδα ένα ξεδιπλωμένο βιβλίο*ξεδιπλωμένο βιβλίο. Βλ. υποσ. εις Ιερ 36:2. που πετούσε. 2 «Τι βλέπεις;» με ρώτησε ο άγγελος. Κι απάντησα: «Βλέπω ένα ξεδιπλωμένο βιβλίο που πετάει· το μήκος του είναι είκοσι πήχεις και το πλάτος του δέκα». 3 Τότε μου είπε: «Σ’ αυτό το βιβλίο είναι γραμμένη η κατάρα που θα πέσει πάνω σ’ όλη τη χώρα. Κάθε κλέφτης θα διωχθεί, σύμφωνα μ’ αυτό που είναι γραμμένο στη μία πλευρά του βιβλίου· και καθένας που ψευδορκεί στο όνομά μου θα διωχθεί, σύμφωνα μ’ αυτό που είναι γραμμένο στην άλλη πλευρά του. 4 Ο Κύριος του σύμπαντος λέει: "έχω εξαπολύσει την κατάρα· θα μπει μέσα στο σπίτι του κλέφτη κι εκείνου που ψευδορκεί στο όνομά μου. Θα παραμείνει μέσα στο σπίτι και θα το εξαφανίσει μαζί με τα ξύλα του και τα λιθάρια του"».

5 Ο άγγελος που μιλούσε μαζί μου, προχώρησε πάλι μπροστά και μου είπε: «Στρέψε το βλέμμα σου και κοίτα· τι βλέπεις να εμφανίζεται εκεί πέρα;» 6 Τότε ρώτησα: «Τι είναι;» Και μου απάντησε: «Είναι ένα κοφίνι. Μέσα του βρίσκεται κάτι που όλος ο λαός επιθυμεί ζωηρά». 7 Τότε το στρογγυλό μολυβένιο καπάκι σηκώθηκε και μια γυναίκα εμφανίστηκε μέσα από το κοφίνι. 8 Ο άγγελος είπε: «Αυτή είναι η ασέβεια». Την έσπρωξε πάλι μέσα στο κοφίνι και έκλεισε το καπάκι πάνω της.

9 Ύστερα σήκωσα το βλέμμα μου και είδα δύο γυναίκες που πετούσαν σπρωγμένες απ’ τον άνεμο κι αλήθεια είχανε φτερά, σαν τα φτερά του πελαργού. Οι γυναίκες αυτές πιάσανε το κοφίνι και το σήκωσαν ανάμεσα ουρανού και γης. 10 Τότε ρώτησα τον άγγελο, που μιλούσε μαζί μου: «Πού το πάνε το κοφίνι με τη γυναίκα;» 11 Κι εκείνος μου απάντησε: «Στη χώρα της Σεναάρ*Σεναάρ. Άλλο όνομα για τη Βαβυλώνα. για να χτίσουν της γυναίκας ένα ναό, και να την τοποθετήσουν σε βάθρο».

1 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. 2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. 3 Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.*5.3 every one that stealeth…: or, every one of this people that stealeth holdeth himself guiltless, as it doth 4 I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

5 Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. 6 And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. 7 And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.*5.7 talent: or, weighty piece 8 And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. 9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. 10 Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? 11 And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
