1 Μήνυμα, λόγος του Κυρίου για το λαό του Ισραήλ. Ο Κύριος, που τεντώνει τους ουρανούς, θεμελιώνει τη γη και διαμορφώνει το πνεύμα του ανθρώπου μέσα του, αυτός λέει: 2 «Εγώ θα κάνω την Ιερουσαλήμ σαν ποτήρι γεμάτο κρασί. Όλοι οι γύρω λαοί, που θα της επιτίθενται, θα πίνουν και θα ζαλίζονται. Ο λαός του Ιούδα θ’ αντιμετωπίσει κι αυτός την ίδια δυστυχία όπως και η Ιερουσαλήμ. 3 Την ίδια εποχή θα κάνω την Ιερουσαλήμ βαρύ λιθάρι, ασήκωτο για τα έθνη. Κι όποιοι επιχειρήσουν να το σηκώσουν θα τραυματιστούν βαριά. Τότε όλα τα έθνη της γης θα συγκεντρωθούν ενάντια στην πόλη. 4 Εκείνη την ημέρα όμως εγώ θα κάνω τ’ άλογά τους να αφηνιάσουν και τους καβαλάρηδες να τους πιάσει πανικός· τα άλογα των εθνών θα τα χτυπήσω με τύφλωση.

»Θα προσέχω το λαό του Ιούδα και θα τον προστατεύω. 5 Οι αρχηγοί του θα σκεφτούν: "οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ είναι η δύναμή μας, γιατί εμπιστεύονται τον Κύριο του σύμπαντος, το Θεό τους". 6 Εκείνη την ημέρα θα κάνω τους αρχηγούς του Ιούδα δοχείο με αναμμένα κάρβουνα κάτω από τα ξύλα, και σαν δαυλό αναμμένο ανάμεσα στα χειρόβολα· θα καταστρέψουν με ταχύτητα όλους τους γύρω λαούς, ενώ οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ θα εξακολουθούν να κατοικούν στην πόλη τους. 7 Εγώ ο Κύριος θα βοηθήσω πρώτα τις οικογένειες του Ιούδα, ώστε οι απόγονοι του Δαβίδ και οι κάτοικοι της Ιερουσαλήμ να μην περιφρονούν το λαό του Ιούδα. 8 Την ίδια εκείνη εποχή θα εκδηλώσω την προστασία μου στους κατοίκους της Ιερουσαλήμ: Αυτός που θα τρικλίζει ανάμεσά τους θα είναι ήρωας όπως ο Δαβίδ· και οι απόγονοι του Δαβίδ, οι αρχηγοί τους, θα είναι όπως τα ουράνια όντα, όπως οι άγγελοι του Κυρίου.

9 »Εκείνη τη μέρα», λέει ο Κύριος, «θα επέμβω και θα καταστρέψω όλα τα έθνη που έρχονται να επιτεθούν ενάντια στην Ιερουσαλήμ. 10 Θα βάλω στους απογόνους του Δαβίδ και τους κατοίκους της Ιερουσαλήμ πνεύμα μεταμέλειας ώστε να ζητήσουν το έλεός μου. Τότε θα στρέψουν τα βλέμματά τους σ’ εμένα εξαιτίας εκείνου που τον τρύπησαν· θα τον θρηνήσουν όπως θρηνούν έναν μονογενή, θα τον κλάψουν πικρά όπως κλαίνε έναν πρωτότοκο. 11 Ο θρήνος της Ιερουσαλήμ θα είναι μεγάλος, όπως ο θρήνος για την Αδάδ-Ριμμών*Αδάδ-Ριμμών. Πιθανώς είναι ο τόπος όπου ο βασιλιάς του Ιούδα Ιωσίας πέθανε το 609 π.Χ. (βλ. Β΄ Βασ 23:29· Β΄ Χρ 35:20-27). στην πεδιάδα της Μεγιδδώ. 12,13 Όλες οι οικογένειες στη χώρα θα θρηνήσουν καθεμιά μόνη της, άντρες και γυναίκες χωριστά: οι οικογένειες των απογόνων του Δαβίδ, του Νάθαν, του Λευί, του Σιμεΐ. 14 Το ίδιο θα συμβεί και μ’ όλες τις υπόλοιπες οικογένειες στη χώρα».

3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. 4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. 5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.*12.5 The inhabitants…: or, There is strength to me and to the inhabitants, etc

6 In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. 7 The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah. 8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.*12.8 feeble: or, abject: Heb. fallen

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. 12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;*12.12 every…: Heb. families, families 13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;*12.13 of Shimei: or, of Simeon, as LXX 14 All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
