Marcos 1

1 The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

2 As it is written in the prophets,

"Behold,*1:2 "Behold", from "ἰδοὺ", means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection. I send my messenger before your face,

who will prepare your way before you:✝1:2 Malachi 3:1

3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness,

‘Make ready the way of the Lord!

Make his paths straight!’"✝1:3 Isaiah 40:3

4 John came baptizing*1:4 or, immersing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. 5 All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. 6 John was clothed with camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. 7 He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. 8 I baptized you in*1:8 The Greek word (en) translated here as "in" could also be translated as "with" in some contexts. water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit."

9 In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 A voice came out of the sky, "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

12 Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness. 13 He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.

14 Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom, 15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News."

16 Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men."

18 Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

19 Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. 20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

21 They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. 22 They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes. 23 Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, 24 saying, "Ha! What do we have to do with you, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God!"

25 Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"

26 The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What can this new doctrine be? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!" 28 The report of him went out immediately into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.

29 Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 He came and took her by the hand and raised her up. The fever left her immediately,*1:31 NU omits "immediately". and she served them.

32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed by demons. 33 All the city was gathered together at the door. 34 He healed many who were sick with various diseases and cast out many demons. He didn’t allow the demons to speak, because they knew him.

35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. 36 Simon and those who were with him searched for him. 37 They found him and told him, "Everyone is looking for you."

38 He said to them, "Let’s go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because I came out for this reason." 39 He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.

40 A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, "If you want to, you can make me clean."

41 Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, "I want to. Be made clean." 42 When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was made clean. 43 He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out, 44 and said to him, "See that you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

45 But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places. People came to him from everywhere.

4 *Apg 19:4. Johannes Döparen trädde fram i öknen och förkunnade omvändelsens dop till syndernas förlåtelse. 5 Hela Judeens land och Jerusalems alla invånare kom ut till honom, och de bekände sina synder och döptes av honom i floden Jordan.

Jesus blir döpt

9 *Matt 3:13f, Luk 3:21f. Vid den tiden kom Jesus från Nasaret i Galileen och blev döpt av Johannes i Jordan. 10 *Joh 1:32. Genast, när han steg upp ur vattnet, såg han himlen dela sig och Anden komma ner över honom som en duva. 11 Och en röst kom från himlen: "Du är min älskade Son. I dig har jag min glädje."

Jesus frestas

12 *Matt 4:1f, Luk 4:1f. Genast*1:12GenastDetta ord (grek. euthýs) är ett markant stildrag hos Markus. I grundtexten används det hela 42 gånger, oftast för att fästa uppmärksamheten på det som följer. förde Anden honom ut i öknen, 13 och han var i öknen under fyrtio dagar och frestades av Satan. Han levde bland de vilda djuren, och änglarna betjänade honom.

Jesu första lärjungar

14 *Matt 4:12, Luk 4:14f. Efter att Johannes hade blivit fängslad kom Jesus till Galileen och förkunnade Guds evangelium. 15 *Matt 3:2. Han sade: "Tiden är inne och Guds rike är nära. Omvänd er och tro på evangeliet!"*1:15Guds rike är näraMed Jesus har himmelriket kommit in i världen.

16 *Matt 4:18f, Luk 5:1f. När han gick längs Galileiska sjön såg han Simon och hans bror Andreas. De stod och kastade ut nät i sjön, för de var fiskare. 17 Jesus sade till dem: "Kom och följ mig, så ska jag göra er till människofiskare." 18 Genast lämnade de näten och följde honom.

19 När han kom lite längre fram såg han Jakob, Sebedeus son, och hans bror Johannes. De satt i båten och gjorde i ordning sina nät. 20 Genast kallade han på dem, och de lämnade sin far Sebedeus i båten med arbetarna och följde Jesus.

Jesus i Kapernaums synagoga

21 *Matt 4:13, 23, Luk 4:31f. De kom till Kapernaum, och på sabbaten gick han genast till synagogan och undervisade. 22 *Matt 7:28f. Folk blev överväldigade av hans lära, för han undervisade dem med auktoritet och inte som de skriftlärda*1:22med auktoritet och inte som de skriftlärdaDe skriftlärda grundade sin lagtolkning på den rabbinska traditionen i "de äldstes stadgar" (7:3f), medan Jesus talar med gudomlig auktoritet..

23 *Luk 4:33f. Nu fanns i deras synagoga en man med en oren ande, och han skrek: 24 *Matt 8:29. "Vad har vi med dig att göra, Jesus från Nasaret? Har du kommit för att fördärva oss? Jag vet vem du är: Guds Helige!" 25 Men Jesus talade strängt till anden: "Tig och far ut ur honom!" 26 *Mark 9:26. Den orena anden ryckte i mannen och skrek högt och for ut ur honom. 27 Alla blev förskräckta och frågade varandra: "Vad är detta? En ny lära, med sådan makt! Till och med de orena andarna befaller han, och de lyder honom." 28 Och ryktet om honom spred sig genast överallt i hela Galileen.

29 *Matt 8:14f, Luk 4:38f. Så snart de kom ut ur synagogan gick de till Simons och Andreas hus tillsammans med Jakob och Johannes. 30 Simons svärmor låg sjuk i feber, och de talade genast med Jesus om henne. 31 Då gick han fram, tog hennes hand och reste henne upp. Febern släppte, och hon betjänade dem.

32 *Matt 8:16f, Luk 4:40f. På kvällen, när solen hade gått ner, kom man till honom med alla som var sjuka och besatta. 33 Hela staden var samlad utanför dörren. 34 *Apg 16:17f. Han botade många som led av olika sjukdomar och drev ut många onda andar. Men han tillät dem inte att tala, eftersom de visste vem han var.

35 *Luk 4:42f. Tidigt på morgonen, medan det ännu var mörkt, steg Jesus upp och gick ut till en enslig plats och bad där. 36 Simon och de som var med honom skyndade efter, 37 och när de fann Jesus sade de till honom: "Alla söker efter dig." 38 Han sade: "Vi går någon annanstans, till byarna här omkring, så att jag kan predika där också. Det är därför jag har kommit." 39 Och han gick och predikade i deras synagogor i hela Galileen och drev ut de onda andarna.

Jesus botar en spetälsk

40 *Matt 8:2f, Luk 5:12f. En spetälsk*1:40spetälskBärare av en smittsam, långsamt dödande hudsjukdom. Den drabbade ansågs som "oren" och var därför utestängd från folkgemenskapen (3 Mos 13:45f). kom fram till honom och föll på knä och bad: "Om du vill, så kan du göra mig ren." 41 Jesus förbarmade sig, räckte ut handen och rörde vid honom och sade: "Jag vill. Bli ren!" 42 Genast försvann spetälskan från honom och han blev ren. 43 *Mark 7:36. Sedan skickade Jesus iväg honom och sade strängt: 44 *3 Mos 14:2f. "Se till att du inte berättar det för någon. Gå i stället och visa dig för prästen*1:44visa dig för prästenför att bli friskförklarad och återupptagen i folkets gemenskap (se 3 Mos 14:2f). och bär fram det offer för din rening som Mose har föreskrivit. Det blir ett vittnesbörd för dem."

45 Men mannen gick ut och började ivrigt berätta och spred ryktet vida omkring. Därför kunde Jesus inte längre gå in i städerna öppet, utan han stannade ute i ödemarken. Och folk kom till honom från alla håll.
