Marcos 15

1 Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate. 2 Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"

He answered, "So you say."

3 The chief priests accused him of many things. 4 Pilate again asked him, "Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!"

5 But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

6 Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomever they asked of him. 7 There was one called Barabbas, bound with his fellow insurgents, men who in the insurrection had committed murder. 8 The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them. 9 Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?" 10 For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up. 11 But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead. 12 Pilate again asked them, "What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?"

13 They cried out again, "Crucify him!"

14 Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has he done?"

But they cried out exceedingly, "Crucify him!"

15 Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

16 The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort. 17 They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18 They began to salute him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" 19 They struck his head with a reed and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him. 20 When they had mocked him, they took the purple cloak off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

21 They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them that he might bear his cross. 22 They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, "The place of a skull." 23 They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

24 Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take. 25 It was the third hour*15:25 9:00 a.m. when they crucified him. 26 The superscription of his accusation was written over him: "THE KING OF THE JEWS." 27 With him they crucified two robbers, one on his right hand, and one on his left. 28 The Scripture was fulfilled which says, "He was counted with transgressors."*15:28 NU omits verse 28.

29 Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads and saying, "Ha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!"

31 Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, "He saved others. He can’t save himself. 32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him."*15:32 TR omits "him" Those who were crucified with him also insulted him.

33 When the sixth hour*15:33 or, noon had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.*15:33 3:00 p.m. 34 At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is, being interpreted, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"✝15:34 Psalms 22:1

35 Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah."

36 One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down."

37 Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit. 38 The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. 39 When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"

40 There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; 41 who, when he was in Galilee, followed him and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

42 When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for God’s Kingdom, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long. 45 When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. 46 He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.

Jesus inför Pilatus

1 *Matt 27:1f, Luk 22:66, 23:1f, Joh 18:28f. Redan tidigt på morgonen tog översteprästerna sitt beslut tillsammans med de äldste och de skriftlärda, hela Stora rådet. De band Jesus och förde bort honom och utlämnade honom till Pilatus*15:1PilatusStåthållare i provinsen Judeen under åren 26-36 e Kr. Därefter avsattes han på grund av grymhet mot samarierna..

2 *Matt 27:11f. Pilatus frågade honom: "Så du är judarnas kung?" Jesus svarade: "Du själv säger det." 3 Översteprästerna anklagade honom häftigt, 4 och Pilatus frågade honom på nytt: "Svarar du inte? Du hör hur mycket de anklagar dig för." 5 Men Jesus svarade inget mer, och Pilatus var förundrad.

6 *Matt 27:15f, Joh 18:39f. Vid högtiden brukade Pilatus frige en fånge, den som de begärde. 7 Där fanns nu en man som hette Barabbas. Han satt fängslad tillsammans med andra upprorsmän som hade begått mord under oroligheterna. 8 När folket kom fram och började be honom göra som han brukade för dem, 9 *Luk 23:16f. svarade Pilatus: "Vill ni att jag friger judarnas kung åt er?" 10 Han förstod nämligen att det var av avund som översteprästerna hade utlämnat honom.

11 *Apg 3:13f. Men översteprästerna hetsade folket till att i stället be att få Barabbas fri. 12 Pilatus frågade dem än en gång: "Vad ska jag då göra med honom som ni kallar judarnas kung?" 13 De skrek tillbaka: "Korsfäst honom!" 14 Pilatus frågade dem: "Vad har han gjort för ont?" Men de skrek ännu högre: "Korsfäst honom!" 15 *Joh 19:1. Och eftersom Pilatus ville göra folket till viljes, släppte han Barabbas och lät gissla*15:15gisslaTortyr föregick normalt en avrättning. Det romerska gisslet, flagellum, hade taggar av ben eller metall som rev upp fångens rygg så att denne ibland avled redan före avrättningen. Jesus och utlämnade honom sedan till att korsfästas.

Jesus hånas och misshandlas

16 *Matt 27:27f. Soldaterna förde in Jesus på gården, det vill säga pretoriet, och sammankallade hela vaktstyrkan. 17 *Joh 19:2f. De klädde honom i en purpurmantel*15:17purpurmantelPurpur var antikens dyrbaraste färg, förbehållen kungligheter (jfr Dan 5:7). Troligen syftar Markus på en enklare röd soldatkappa (Matt 27:28). och vred ihop en törnekrona och satte den på honom. 18 Sedan började de hälsa honom: "Leve judarnas kung!" 19 *Jes 50:6. De slog honom i huvudet med en käpp, spottade på honom och böjde knä och tillbad honom.

20 När de hade hånat honom, tog de av honom purpurmanteln och klädde honom i hans egna kläder. Sedan förde de ut honom för att korsfästas.

Jesus blir korsfäst

21 *Matt 27:32, Luk 23:26. De hejdade en man som just kom in från landet, Simon från Kyrene, far till Alexander och Rufus*15:21Alexander och RufusVälkända namn för Markusevangeliets ursprungliga läsekrets i Rom, dit Rufus och hans mor flyttade längre fram (se Rom 16:13).. Honom tvingade de att bära Jesu kors.  22 *Matt 27:33f, Luk 23:33f, Joh 19:17f. Och de förde Jesus till den plats som kallas Golgata, som betyder Dödskalleplatsen. 23 *Ps 69:22. De försökte ge honom vin blandat med myrra*15:23vin blandat med myrraFörmögna kvinnor i Jerusalem bekostade utifrån Ords 31:6 ett vinbaserat bedövningsmedel för att lindra de dödsdömdas plågor., men han tog inte emot det. 24 *Ps 22:19. Och de korsfäste honom och delade hans kläder*15:24delade hans kläderJfr profetian i Ps 22:19. mellan sig genom att kasta lott om vad var och en skulle få. 25 Det var vid tredje timmen som de korsfäste honom. 26 På anslaget med anklagelsen mot honom stod det skrivet: "Judarnas kung".

27 *Matt 27:38f, Luk 23:32f. Tillsammans med honom korsfäste de två rövare, den ene på hans högra sida och den andre på hans vänstra.*15:27 En del handskrifter tillägger (vers 28): "Då uppfylldes skriftordet som säger: Han blev räknad bland överträdare." Se Jes 53:12 och Luk 22:37.29 *Ps 22:8, Mark 14:58, Joh 2:19f. De som gick förbi hånade honom och skakade på huvudet och sade: "Ha! Du som river templet och bygger upp det på tre dagar, 30 fräls dig själv och kom ner från korset!" 31 På samma sätt förlöjligade översteprästerna och de skriftlärda honom och sade till varandra: "Andra har han frälst, sig själv kan han inte frälsa. 32 Han är Messias, Israels kung! Nu får han komma ner från korset, så att vi får se det och tro!" Också de som var korsfästa tillsammans med honom hånade honom.

Jesus dör

33 *Matt 27:45f, Luk 23:44f. Vid nionde timmen ropade Jesus med hög röst: "Elohi! Elohi! Lema sabaktani?" Det betyder: "Min Gud, min Gud, varför har du övergett mig?"*15:34 Ps 22:2. Psalmen skildrar Messias lidande och uppståndelse. Jesus citerar dess titelvers på folkspråket arameiska och inte på hebreiska.

35 Några av dem som stod där hörde det och sade: "Hör, han ropar på Elia!" 36 *Joh 19:29f. En av dem sprang och fyllde en svamp med ättikvin, fäste den runt en käpp och gav honom att dricka och sade: "Vänta, så får vi se om Elia kommer och tar ner honom." 37 Men Jesus ropade med hög röst och gav sedan upp andan.

38 *2 Mos 26:31f, Matt 27:51, Luk 23:45, Hebr 10:20. Då brast förhänget*15:38förhängetEtt tio meter högt draperi som skärmade av "det allra heligaste", Guds uppenbarelseplats (se 2 Mos 26:31f, 3 Mos 16:2f, Hebr 9:3f, 10:20). i templet i två delar, uppifrån och ända ner. 39 När officeren som stod framför honom såg att han gav upp andan på det sättet, sade han: "Den mannen var verkligen Guds Son!"

40 *Luk 8:2f. Även några kvinnor stod på avstånd och såg på. Bland dem var Maria Magdalena och den Maria som var Jakob den yngres och Joses mor, samt Salome. 41 De hade följt Jesus medan han var i Galileen och tjänat honom. Där fanns också många andra kvinnor som hade gått med honom upp till Jerusalem.

Jesus begravs

42 *Matt 27:57f, Luk 23:50f, Joh 19:38f. Det var nu redan kväll. Han var en ansedd rådsherre som också väntade på Guds rike. Han tog mod till sig och gick in till Pilatus och bad att få Jesu kropp. 44 Pilatus blev förvånad över att Jesus redan skulle ha dött och kallade till sig officeren och frågade honom om Jesus varit död länge. 45 När han fick det bekräftat av officeren, lät han Josef få den döda kroppen.

46 Josef köpte då linnetyg, tog ner honom och svepte honom i linnetyget och lade honom i en grav som var uthuggen i klippan. Sedan rullade han en sten för ingången till graven. 47 Maria Magdalena och Maria, Joses mor, såg var han blev lagd.
