1 Then Solomon began to build the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem on mount Moriah, where Jehovah appeared unto David his father, which he made ready in the place that David had appointed, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign. 3 Now these are the foundations which Solomon laid for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. 4 And the porch that was before the house, the length of it, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height a hundred and twenty; and he overlaid it within with pure gold. 5 And the greater house he ceiled with fir-wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and wrought thereon palm-trees and chains. 6 And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim. 7 He overlaid also the house, the beams, the thresholds, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubim on the walls.

8 And he made the most holy house: the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents. 9 And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

10 And in the most holy house he made two cherubim of image work; and they overlaid them with gold. 11 And the wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. 12 And the wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub. 13 The wings of these cherubim spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were toward the house. 14 And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubim thereon.

15 Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits. 16 And he made chains in the oracle, and put them on the tops of the pillars; and he made a hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains. 17 And he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

Lungimea, în coți de măsura cea veche a coților, era de șaizeci de coți, iar lățimea, de douăzeci de coți. 4 Pridvorul*1 Împ. 6:3. dinainte avea douăzeci de coți lungime, cât era de lată casa, și o sută douăzeci de coți înălțime; Solomon l-a acoperit pe dinăuntru cu aur curat. 5 A îmbrăcat cu lemn de chiparos casa*1 Împ. 6:17. cea mare, a acoperit-o cu aur curat și a săpat pe ea finici și împletituri de lănțișoare. 6 A acoperit casa cu pietre scumpe ca podoabă și aurul era aur din Parvaim. 7 A acoperit cu aur casa, bârnele, pragurile, pereții și ușile și a pus să sape heruvimi pe pereți. 8 A făcut casa Locului Preasfânt. Ea era lungă de douăzeci de coți, cât lărgimea casei, și largă de douăzeci de coți. A acoperit-o cu aur curat, care prețuia șase sute de talanți. 9 Greutatea aurului pentru cuie se ridica la cincizeci de sicli. A îmbrăcat cu aur și odăile de sus. 10 A făcut în casa*1 Împ. 6:23. Locului Preasfânt doi heruvimi săpați și i-a acoperit cu aur. 11 Aripile heruvimilor aveau o lungime de douăzeci de coți. Aripa celui dintâi, lungă de cinci coți, atingea zidul casei și cealaltă aripă, lungă tot de cinci coți, atingea aripa celui de al doilea heruvim. 12 Aripa celui de al doilea heruvim, lungă de cinci coți, atingea zidul casei și cealaltă aripă, lungă tot de cinci coți, se unea cu aripa celui dintâi heruvim. 13 Aripile acestor heruvimi, întinse, aveau douăzeci de coți. Ei stăteau în picioare, cu fața întoarsă spre casă. 14 A făcut perdeaua*Exod 26:31.Mat. 27:51.Evr. 9:3. albastră, purpurie și cârmâzie și de in subțire și a lucrat heruvimi pe ea.

15 A făcut înaintea casei doi*1 Împ. 7:15-21.Ier. 52:21. stâlpi de treizeci și cinci de coți înălțime, cu un cap de cinci coți în vârful lor. 16 A făcut niște rețele ca acelea care erau în Locul Preasfânt și le-a pus pe vârful stâlpilor. Apoi a făcut o sută*1 Împ. 7:20. de rodii pe care le-a pus pe rețele. 17 A așezat*1 Împ. 7:21. stâlpii în partea dinainte a Templului, unul la dreapta și altul la stânga, a numit pe cel de la dreapta Iachin și pe cel de la stânga Boaz.
