2 Que minha oração suba até vós como a fumaça do incenso, que minhas mãos estendidas para vós sejam como a oferenda da tarde.

3 Ponde, Senhor, uma guarda em minha boca, uma sentinela à porta de meus lábios.

4 Não deixeis meu coração inclinar-se ao mal, para impiamente cometer alguma ação criminosa. Não permitais que eu tome parte nos festins dos homens que praticam o mal.

5 Se o justo me bate é um favor, se me repreende é como perfume em minha fronte. Minha cabeça não o rejeitará; porém, sob seus golpes, apenas rezarei.

6 Seus chefes foram precipitados pelas encostas do rochedo, e ouviram quão brandas eram as minhas palavras.

7 Como a terra fendida e sulcada pelo arado, assim seus ossos se dispersam à beira da região dos mortos.

8 Pois é para vós, Senhor, que se voltam os meus olhos; eu me refugio junto de vós, não me deixeis perecer.

9 Guardai-me do laço que me armaram, e das ciladas dos que praticam o mal.

10 Caiam os ímpios, de uma vez, nas próprias malhas; quanto a mim, que eu escape são e salvo.

2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

6 I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.*140.8 lest…: or, let them not be exalted

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
