Of the sons of Korah. 2 \48:1\Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, in the town of our God, in his holy mountain.3 \48:2\Beautiful in its high position, the joy of all the earth, is the mountain of Zion, the mountain of God, the town of the great King.4 \48:3\In its buildings God is seen to be a high tower.5 \48:4\For see! the kings came together by agreement, they were joined together.6 \48:5\They saw it, and so were full of wonder; they were troubled, and went quickly away in fear.7 \48:6\Shaking came on them and pain, as on a woman in childbirth.8 \48:7\By you the ships of Tarshish are broken as by an east wind.9 \48:8\As it came to our ears so have we seen it, in the town of the Lord of armies, in the town of our God; God will keep it fixed for ever. (Selah.)10 \48:9\Our thoughts were of your mercy, O God, while we were in your Temple.11 \48:10\As your name is, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.12 \48:11\Let there be joy in the mountain of Zion, and let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your wise decisions.13 \48:12\Make your way about Zion, and go round it, numbering its towers.14 \48:13\Take note of its strong walls, looking well at its fair buildings; so that you may give word of it to the generation which comes after.15 \48:14\Because this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide.

L'Eternel est grand, et fort louable en la ville de notre Dieu, en la montagne de sa Sainteté.2 Le plus beau de la contrée, la joie de toute la terre, c'est la montagne de Sion au fond de l'Aquilon; c'est la ville du grand Roi.3 Dieu est connu en ses palais pour une haute retraite.4 Car voici, les Rois s'étaient donné assignation, ils avaient passé outre tous ensemble.5 L'ont-ils vue? ils en ont été aussitôt étonnés; ils ont été tout troublés, ils s'en sont fuis à l'étourdie.6 Là le tremblement les a saisis, [et] une douleur comme de celle qui enfante.7 [Ils ont été chassés comme] par le vent d'Orient [qui] brise les navires de Tarsis.8 Comme nous l'avions entendu, ainsi l'avons-nous vu dans la ville de l'Eternel des armées, dans la ville de notre Dieu, laquelle Dieu maintiendra à toujours; Sélah.9 Ô Dieu! nous avons entendu ta gratuité au milieu de ton Temple.10 Ô Dieu! tel qu'est ton Nom, telle [est] ta louange jusqu'aux bouts de la terre; ta droite est pleine de justice.11 La montagne de Sion se réjouira, et les filles de Juda auront de la joie, à cause de tes jugements.12 Environnez Sion, et l'entourez, [et] comptez ses tours.13 Prenez bien garde à son avant-mur, et considérez ses palais; afin que vous le racontiez à la génération à venir.14 Car c'est le Dieu qui est notre Dieu à toujours et à perpétuité; il nous accompagnera jusques à la mort.
