1 And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem, to hold the passover to Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel. 2 And the king took counsel, and his princes, and the whole congregation in Jerusalem, to hold the passover in the second month. 3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not hallowed themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people been gathered together to Jerusalem. 4 And the thing pleased the king and the whole congregation. 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to hold the passover to Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, at Jerusalem; because they had not held it for a long time as it was written. 6 And the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, return to Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 And be not like your fathers and like your brethren, who transgressed against Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as ye see. 8 Now, harden not your necks, as your fathers; yield yourselves to Jehovah, and come to his sanctuary, which he has sanctified for ever; and serve Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim that the fierceness of his anger may turn away from you. 9 For if ye return to Jehovah, your brethren and your children shall find compassion with those that have carried them captive, so that they shall come again unto this land; for Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return to him. 10 And the couriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even to Zebulun; but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them. 11 Nevertheless certain of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem. 12 The hand of God*GodHebrew: Elohim was also upon Judah to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of Jehovah.

13 And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to hold the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation. 14 And they rose up and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem; and they took away all the incense-altars, and cast them into the torrent Kidron. 15 And they slaughtered the passover on the fourteenth of the second month; and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and hallowed themselves; and they brought the burnt-offerings into the house of Jehovah. 16 And they stood in their place after their custom, according to the law of Moses the man of God*GodHebrew: Elohim the priests sprinkled the blood receiving it from the hand of the Levites. 17 For there were many in the congregation that were not hallowed; therefore the Levites had the charge of the slaughtering of the passover-lambs for every one not clean, to hallow them unto Jehovah. 18 For a multitude of the people, many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, and they ate the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them saying, Jehovah, who is good, forgive every one 19 that has directed his heart to seek God*GodHebrew: Elohim Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of his fathers, although not according to the purification of the sanctuary. 20 And Jehovah hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

21 And the children of Israel, that were present at Jerusalem, held the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Jehovah day by day, with the instruments of praise to Jehovah. 22 And Hezekiah spoke consolingly to all the Levites that had understanding in the good knowledge of Jehovah; and they ate the feast-offerings the seven days, sacrificing peace-offerings, and extolling Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of their fathers. 23 And the whole congregation took counsel to observe other seven days; and they observed the seven days with gladness. 24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the congregation as heave-offering: a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests hallowed themselves. 25 And the whole congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. 26 And there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, there had not been the like in Jerusalem. 27 And the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people; and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, to the heavens.

1 Ezechia a trimis soli în tot Israelul și Iuda și a scris scrisori și lui Efraim și lui Manase ca să vină la Casa Domnului la Ierusalim să prăznuiască Paștele în cinstea Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. 2 Împăratul, căpeteniile lui și toată adunarea ținuseră sfat la Ierusalim ca Paștele să fie prăznuite în luna*Num. 9:10,11. a doua, 3 căci nu puteau fi prăznuite la vremea*Exod 12:6,18. lor, pentru că preoții nu*Cap. 29:34. se sfințiseră în număr destul de mare și poporul nu se adunase la Ierusalim. 4 Lucrul având încuviințarea împăratului și a întregii adunări, 5 au hotărât să dea de veste în tot Israelul, de la Beer-Șeba până la Dan, ca să vină la Ierusalim să prăznuiască Paștele în cinstea Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. Căci de mult nu mai fuseseră prăznuite după cum era scris. 6 Alergătorii s-au dus cu scrisorile împăratului și căpeteniilor lui în tot Israelul și Iuda. Și, după porunca împăratului, au zis: „Copii ai lui Israel, întoarceți-vă*Ier. 4:1.Ioel 2:13. la Domnul Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Isaac și Israel, ca să Se întoarcă și El la voi, rămășiță scăpată din mâna împăraților*2 Împ. 15:19,29. Asiriei! 7 Nu fiți*Ezec. 20:18. ca părinții voștri și ca frații voștri, care au păcătuit împotriva Domnului Dumnezeului părinților lor și pe care de aceea i-a dat pradă pustiirii*Cap. 29:8., cum vedeți. 8 Nu vă înțepeniți grumazul*Deut. 10:16. ca părinții voștri; dați mâna Domnului, veniți la Sfântul Lui Locaș, pe care l-a sfințit pe vecie, și slujiți Domnului Dumnezeului vostru, pentru ca mânia*Cap. 29:10. Lui aprinsă să se abată de la voi. 9 Dacă vă întoarceți la Domnul, frații voștri și fiii voștri vor găsi milă*Ps. 106:46. la cei ce i-au luat robi și se vor întoarce în țară. Căci Domnul Dumnezeul vostru este milostiv*Exod 34:6. și îndurător și nu-Și va întoarce Fața de la voi, dacă vă întoarceți*Is. 55:7. la El." 10 Alergătorii au mers astfel din cetate în cetate, prin țara lui Efraim și Manase, până la Zabulon. Dar ei râdeau și își băteau*Cap. 36:16. joc de ei. 11 Însă câțiva oameni*Cap. 11:16. Vers. 18,21. din Așer, din Manase și Zabulon s-au smerit și au venit la Ierusalim. 12 În Iuda, de asemenea, mâna*Filip. 2:13. lui Dumnezeu a lucrat și le-a dat o singură inimă ca să-i facă să împlinească porunca împăratului și a căpeteniilor, după Cuvântul*Cap. 29:25. Domnului. 13 Un popor în mare număr s-a adunat la Ierusalim să prăznuiască Sărbătoarea Azimilor în luna a doua: a fost o adunare foarte mare. 14 S-au sculat și au îndepărtat altarele*Cap. 28:24. pe care se jertfea în Ierusalim și pe toate acelea pe care se aducea tămâie și le-au aruncat în pârâul Chedron. 15 Au jertfit apoi Paștele în ziua a paisprezecea a lunii a doua. Preoții și leviții, plini de rușine*Cap. 29:34., s-au sfințit și au adus arderi-de-tot în Casa Domnului. 16 Ei ședeau în locul lor obișnuit, după legea lui Moise, omul lui Dumnezeu, și preoții stropeau sângele pe care-l luau din mâna leviților. 17 Fiindcă în adunare erau mulți inși care nu se sfințiseră, leviții*Cap. 29:34. au înjunghiat ei jertfele de Paște pentru toți cei ce nu erau curați, ca să le închine Domnului. 18 Căci o mare parte din popor, mulți*Vers. 11. din Efraim, Manase, Isahar și Zabulon, nu se curățiseră și au*Exod 12:43. mâncat Paștele nu după cele scrise. Dar Ezechia s-a rugat pentru ei zicând: „Domnul, care este bun, să ierte pe toți 19 cei ce și-au*Cap. 19:3. pus inima să caute pe Domnul Dumnezeul părinților lor, măcar că n-au făcut sfânta curățire!" 20 Domnul a ascultat pe Ezechia și a iertat poporul. 21 Astfel, copiii lui Israel care se aflau la Ierusalim au prăznuit Sărbătoarea*Exod 12:15;13:6. Azimilor șapte zile, cu mare bucurie. Și, în fiecare zi, leviții și preoții lăudau pe Domnul cu instrumente care răsunau în cinstea Lui. 22 Ezechia a vorbit inimii tuturor leviților, care arătau o mare*Deut. 33:10. Cap. 17:9; 35:3. pricepere pentru slujba Domnului. Șapte zile au mâncat dobitoacele jertfite, aducând jertfe de mulțumire și lăudând*Ezra 10:11. pe Domnul Dumnezeul părinților lor. 23 Toată adunarea a fost de părere să mai prăznuiască alte*1 Împ. 8:65. șapte zile. Și au prăznuit cu bucurie încă șapte zile. 24 Căci Ezechia, împăratul lui Iuda, dăduse*Cap. 35:7,8. adunării o mie de viței și șapte mii de oi, iar căpeteniile i-au dat o mie de viței și zece mii de oi, și mulți preoți se*Cap. 29:34. sfințiseră. 25 Și s-a bucurat toată adunarea lui Iuda, și preoții, și leviții, și tot poporul venit*Vers. 11,18. din Israel, și străinii veniți din țara lui Israel sau așezați în Iuda. 26 A fost mare veselie la Ierusalim. De pe vremea lui Solomon, fiul lui David, împăratul lui Israel, nu mai fusese la Ierusalim așa ceva. 27 Preoții și leviții s-au sculat și au binecuvântat*Num. 6:23. poporul. Glasul lor a fost auzit și rugăciunea lor a ajuns până la ceruri, până la locuința sfântă a Domnului.
