1 And Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem. 2 And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate Jehovah? Therefore is wrath upon thee from Jehovah. 3 Nevertheless there are good things found in thee; for thou hast put away the Asherahs out of the land, and hast directed thy heart to seek God*GodHebrew: Elohim4 And Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back to Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of their fathers.

5 And he set judges in the land throughout the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. 6 And he said to the judges, Take heed what ye do; for ye judge not for man, but for Jehovah, who will be with you in the matter of judgment. 7 And now, let the terror of Jehovah be upon you; be careful what ye do, for there is no iniquity with Jehovah, nor respect of persons, nor taking of presents. 8 — And moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set some of the Levites and priests, and of the chief fathers of Israel, for the judgment of Jehovah and for causes. — And they returned to Jerusalem. 9 And he charged them saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of Jehovah faithfully and with a perfect heart. 10 And what cause soever comes to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against Jehovah, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren: this do and ye shall not trespass. 11 And behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of Jehovah, and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, prince of the house of Judah, in all the king’s matters; and ye have the Levites before you as officers. Be strong and do it, and Jehovah will be with the good.

1 Iosafat, împăratul lui Iuda, s-a întors în pace acasă, la Ierusalim. 2 Iehu, fiul prorocului*1 Sam. 9:9. Hanani, i-a ieșit înainte și a zis împăratului Iosafat: „Cum de ai ajutat tu pe cel rău și ai iubit*Ps. 139:21. pe cei ce urăsc pe Domnul? Din pricina aceasta este mâniat*Cap. 32:25. Domnul pe tine. 3 Dar tot se mai găsește și ceva*Cap. 17:4,6;12:12. bun în tine, căci ai înlăturat din țară idolii și ți-ai pus*Cap. 30:19.Ezra 7:10. inima să caute pe Dumnezeu."

4 Iosafat a rămas la Ierusalim. Apoi a mai făcut o călătorie prin mijlocul poporului, de la Beer-Șeba până la muntele lui Efraim, și i-a adus înapoi la Domnul Dumnezeul părinților lor. 5 A pus judecători în toate cetățile întărite din țara lui Iuda, în fiecare cetate. 6 Și a zis judecătorilor: „Luați seama la ce veți face, căci nu pentru oameni*Deut. 1:17. veți rosti judecăți, ci pentru Domnul*Ps. 82:1.Ecl. 5:8., care va fi lângă voi când le veți rosti. 7 Acum, frica de Domnul să fie peste voi; vegheați asupra faptelor voastre, căci la Domnul*Deut. 32:4.Rom. 9:14. Dumnezeul nostru nu este nicio nelegiuire, nici nu se are*Deut. 10:17.Iov 34:19.Fapte 10:34.Rom. 2:11.Gal. 2:6.Efes. 6:9.Col. 3:25.1 Pet. 1:17. în vedere fața oamenilor, nici nu se primesc daruri." 8 Când s-a întors la Ierusalim, Iosafat*Deut. 16:18. Cap. 17:8. a pus și aici, pentru judecățile Domnului și pentru neînțelegeri, leviți, preoți și căpetenii peste casele părintești ale lui Israel. 9 Și iată poruncile pe care li le-a dat: „Voi să lucrați în frică*2 Sam. 23:3. de Domnul, cu credință și curăție de inimă. 10 În orice*Deut. 17:8. neînțelegere, care vă va fi supusă de frații voștri, care locuiesc în cetățile lor, și anume cu privire la un omor, la o lege, la o poruncă, la învățături și rânduieli, să-i luminați, ca să nu se facă vinovați față de Domnul și să nu izbucnească mânia*Num. 16:46. Lui peste voi*Ezec. 3:18. și peste frații voștri. Așa să lucrați, și nu veți fi vinovați. 11 Și iată că aveți în frunte pe marele preot Amaria pentru toate treburile*1 Cron. 26:30. Domnului și pe Zebadia, fiul lui Ismael, căpetenia casei lui Iuda, pentru toate treburile împăratului și aveți înainte ca dregători pe leviți. Întăriți-vă și lucrați, și Domnul să fie cu cel ce va face*Cap. 15:2. binele!"
