1 — Quando todas estas coisas vierem sobre vocês, a bênção e a maldição que pus diante de vocês, se vocês se lembrarem delas entre todas as nações para onde o Senhor, seu Deus, os lançar 2 e voltarem para o Senhor, seu Deus, vocês e os seus filhos, de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma, e derem ouvidos à sua voz, segundo tudo o que hoje lhes ordeno, 3 então o Senhor, seu Deus, mudará a sorte de vocês, e se compadecerá de vocês, e os reunirá de todos os povos entre os quais o Senhor, o Deus de vocês, os havia espalhado. 4 Ainda que os desterrados estejam nos lugares mais distantes da terra, desde aí o Senhor, seu Deus, os ajuntará e os trará de volta. 5 O Senhor, seu Deus, introduzirá vocês na terra que seus pais possuíram, e dela vocês tomarão posse. Ele fará bem a vocês e os multiplicará mais do que aos seus pais. 6 O Senhor, seu Deus, circuncidará o coração de vocês e o coração dos seus descendentes, para que vocês amem o Senhor, seu Deus, de todo o coração e de toda a alma, para que vocês tenham vida. 7 O Senhor, seu Deus, porá todas estas maldições sobre os inimigos de vocês e sobre aqueles que os odeiam e os perseguiram. 8 De novo vocês darão ouvidos à voz do Senhor e cumprirão todos os seus mandamentos que hoje lhes ordeno. 9 O Senhor, seu Deus, dará a vocês abundância em tudo o que fizerem, no fruto do seu ventre, no fruto dos seus animais e no fruto da terra, e os beneficiará. Porque o Senhor voltará a se alegrar em vocês, para lhes fazer bem, como se alegrou nos pais de vocês, 10 se derem ouvidos à voz do Senhor, seu Deus, guardando os seus mandamentos e os seus estatutos, escritos neste Livro da Lei, se vocês se converterem ao Senhor, seu Deus, de todo o coração e de toda a alma.

11 — Porque este mandamento que hoje lhes ordeno não é demasiadamente difícil, nem está longe de vocês. 12 Não está no céu, para que tenham de dizer: "Quem subirá até o céu por nós, para nos trazer o mandamento e anunciá-lo a nós, para que o cumpramos?" 13 Nem está do outro lado do mar, para que tenham de dizer: "Quem irá atravessar o mar por nós, para nos trazer o mandamento e anunciá-lo a nós, para que o cumpramos?" 14 Pois esta palavra está bem perto de vocês, na sua boca e no seu coração, para que vocês a cumpram.

15 — Vejam! Hoje coloco diante de vocês a vida e o bem, a morte e o mal. 16 Se guardarem o mandamento que hoje lhes ordeno, que amem o Senhor, seu Deus, andem nos seus caminhos e guardem os seus mandamentos, os seus estatutos e os seus juízos, então vocês viverão e se multiplicarão, e o Senhor, seu Deus, os abençoará na terra em que estão entrando para dela tomar posse. 17 Mas, se o coração de vocês se desviar, e não quiserem ouvir, mas forem seduzidos, se inclinarem diante de outros deuses e os servirem, 18 então hoje lhes declaro que, certamente, perecerão; não permanecerão muito tempo na terra na qual, passando o Jordão, vocês vão entrar para dela tomar posse. 19 Hoje tomo o céu e a terra por testemunhas contra vocês, que lhes propus a vida e a morte, a bênção e a maldição; escolham, pois, a vida, para que vivam, vocês e os seus descendentes, 20 amando o Senhor, seu Deus, dando ouvidos à sua voz e apegando-se a ele; pois disto depende a vida e a longevidade de vocês. Escolham a vida, para que habitem na terra que o Senhor, sob juramento, prometeu dar aos pais de vocês, a Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.

1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things have come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shall call them to mind among all the nations, where LORD thy God has driven thee,2 and shall return to LORD thy God, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy sons, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,3 that then LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples where LORD thy God has scattered thee.4 If [any of] thine outcasts be in the outermost parts of heaven, from there LORD thy God will gather thee, and from there he will fetch thee.5 And LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shall possess it, and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.6 And LORD thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou may live.7 And LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on those who hate thee, who persecuted thee.8 And thou shall return and obey the voice of LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.9 And LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good. For LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoic10 if thou shall obey the voice of LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn to LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not too hard for thee, neither is it far off.12 It is not in heaven, that thou should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?14 But the word is very near to thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou may do it.15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil,16 in that I command thee this day to love LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou may live and multiply, and that LORD thy God may bless thee in the land where th17 But if thy heart turns away, and thou will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them,18 I declare to you this day, that ye shall surely perish. Ye shall not prolong your days in the land where thou pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that thou may live, thou and thy seed,20 to love LORD thy God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him, for he is thy life, and the length of thy days, that thou may dwell in the land which LORD swore to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
