1 Esta é a bênção que Moisés, homem de Deus, deu aos filhos de Israel, antes da sua morte. 2 Ele disse:

O Senhor veio do Sinai

e lhes alvoreceu de Seir;

resplandeceu desde o monte Parã.

Ele veio das miríades de santos;

à sua direita, havia para eles o fogo da lei.

3 Na verdade, amas os povos;

todos os teus santos estão na tua mão;

eles se colocam a teus pés

e aprendem das tuas palavras.

4 Moisés nos deu a Lei,

a herança da congregação de Jacó.

5 O Senhor se tornou rei em Jesurum,

quando se congregaram os chefes do povo

com as tribos de Israel.

6 Que Rúben viva e não morra;

e que não sejam poucos os seus homens!

7 Isto é o que disse de Judá:

Ouve, ó Senhor, a voz de Judá

e faze com que volte ao seu povo;

com as tuas mãos, luta por ele

e sê tu ajuda contra os seus inimigos.

8 De Levi disse:

Dá, ó Deus, o teu Tumim e o teu Urim

para o homem fidedigno,

que tu provaste em Massá,

com quem discutiste nas águas de Meribá;

9 aquele que disse a seu pai e a sua mãe:

"Nunca os vi";

e que não conheceu os seus irmãos

e não estimou os seus filhos,

pois guardou a tua palavra

e observou a tua aliança.

10 Ensina os teus juízos a Jacó

e a tua lei, a Israel;

oferece incenso às tuas narinas

e holocausto, sobre o teu altar.

11 Abençoa o seu poder, ó Senhor,

e aceita a obra das suas mãos;

fere os lombos dos que se levantam contra ele e o odeiam,

para que nunca mais se levantem.

12 De Benjamim disse:

O amado do Senhor habitará seguro com ele;

todo o dia o Senhor o protegerá,

e ele descansará nos seus braços.

13 De José disse:

Bendita do Senhor seja a sua terra,

com o que é mais excelente dos céus,

do orvalho e das profundezas;

14 com o que é mais excelente daquilo que o sol amadurece

e daquilo que os meses produzem;

15 com o que é mais excelente dos montes antigos

e mais excelente das colinas eternas;

16 com o que é mais excelente da terra e da sua plenitude

e da bondade daquele que apareceu na sarça.

Que tudo isto venha sobre a cabeça de José,

sobre a cabeça do príncipe entre seus irmãos.

17 Ele tem a imponência do primogênito de um touro,

e os seus chifres são como os de um boi selvagem;

com eles rechaçará todos os povos

até as extremidades da terra.

Tais, pois, são as miríades de Efraim,

e tais são os milhares de Manassés.

18 De Zebulom disse:

Alegre-se, Zebulom, nas suas viagens,

e você, Issacar, nas suas tendas.

19 Os dois chamarão os povos ao monte;

ali oferecerão sacrifícios aceitáveis,

porque sugam a abundância dos mares

e os tesouros escondidos da areia.

20 De Gade disse:

Bendito aquele que expande o território de Gade!

Como leoa ele fica à espreita

e despedaça o braço e o alto da cabeça.

21 Ficou com a melhor parte,

porque ali estava escondida a porção que cabe ao chefe;

ele veio com os chefes do povo,

executou a justiça do Senhor

e os seus juízos para com Israel.

22 De Dã disse:

Dã é um leãozinho

que vem saltando de Basã.

23 De Naftali disse:

Naftali receberá favores

e, cheio da bênção do Senhor,

possuirá o lago e o Sul.

24 De Aser disse:

Bendito seja Aser entre os filhos de Jacó!

Que ele seja favorecido pelos seus irmãos

e banhe em azeite os seus pés.

25 Sejam de ferro e de bronze os seus ferrolhos,

e que a sua paz dure como os seus dias.

26 Não há ninguém como Deus, ó Jesurum!

Ele cavalga sobre os céus para ajudar você

e com a sua alteza, sobre as nuvens.

27 O Deus eterno é a sua habitação

e, por baixo de você, ele estende os braços eternos.

Ele expulsou os inimigos de diante de você

e disse: "Destrua-os".

28 Israel, pois, habitará seguro,

a fonte de Jacó habitará a sós

numa terra de cereal e de vinho;

e os seus céus destilarão orvalho.

29 Feliz é você, ó Israel!

Quem é como você?

Povo salvo pelo Senhor,

que é o escudo que o socorre,

a espada que lhe dá alteza.

Assim, os seus inimigos se sujeitarão a você,

e você pisará os seus altos.

1 And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death.2 And he said, LORD came from Sinai, and rose from Seir to them. He shined forth from mount Paran, and he came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At his right hand was a fiery law for them.3 Yea, he loves the people. All his sanctified are in thy hand, and they sat down at thy feet. He shall receive from thy words.4 Moses commanded for us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.5 And he was king in Jeshurun when the heads of the people were gathered, all the tribes of Israel together.6 Let Reuben live, and not die, nor let his men be few.7 And this [is] of Judah: And he said, Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him into his people. With his hands he contended for himself, and thou shall be a help against his adversaries.8 And of Levi he said, Thy Thummim and thy Urim are with thy holy man, whom thou proved at Massah, with whom thou strove at the waters of Meribah,9 who said of his father, and of his mother, I have not seen him, neither did he acknowledge his brothers, nor knew he his own sons, for they have observed thy word, and keep thy covenant.10 They shall teach Jacob thine ordinances, and Israel thy law. They shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt-offering upon thine altar.11 Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands. Smite through the loins of those who rise up against him, and of those who hate him, that they not rise again.12 Of Benjamin he said, The beloved of LORD shall dwell in safety by him. He covers him all the day long, and he dwells between his shoulders.13 And of Joseph he said, Blessed of LORD be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that couches beneath,14 and for the precious things of the fruits of the sun, and for the precious things of the growth of the moons,15 and for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the everlasting hills,16 and for the precious things of the earth and the fullness of it, and the good will of him who dwelt in the bush. Let [it] come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.17 The firstling of his herd, majesty is his. And his horns are the horns of the wild-ox. With them he shall push the peoples, all of them, [even] the ends of the earth. And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thou18 And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out, and, Issachar, in thy tents.19 They shall call the peoples to the mountain. There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness, for they shall suck the abundance of the seas, and the hidden treasures of the sand.20 And of Gad he said, Blessed be he who enlarges Gad. He dwells as a lioness, and tears the arm, yea, the crown of the head.21 And he provided the first part for himself, for there was the lawgiver's portion reserved. And he came [with] the heads of the people. He executed the righteousness of LORD, and his ordinances with Israel.22 And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp that leaps forth from Bashan.23 And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full with the blessing of LORD, possess thou the west and the south.24 And of Asher he said, Blessed be Asher with sons. Let him be acceptable to his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil.25 Thy bars shall be iron and brass, and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.26 There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides upon the heavens for thy help, and in his excellency on the skies.27 The eternal God is [thy] dwelling-place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy from before thee, and said, Destroy.28 And Israel dwells in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, in a land of grain and new wine. Yea, his heavens drop down dew.29 Happy are thou, O Israel. Who is like thee, a people saved by LORD, the shield of thy help, and the sword of thy excellency! And thine enemies shall submit themselves to thee, and thou shall tread upon their high places.
