1 Assim diz o Senhor:

"O céu é o meu trono,

e a terra é o estrado dos meus pés.

Que casa, então, vocês poderiam

construir para mim?

Ou que lugar para o meu repouso?

2 Porque a minha mão

fez todas estas coisas,

e todas vieram a existir",

diz o Senhor.

"Mas eis para quem olharei:

para o aflito e abatido de espírito

e que treme diante

da minha palavra."

3 "Quem mata um boi é como

o que comete homicídio;

quem sacrifica um cordeiro,

como o que quebra

o pescoço de um cão;

quem traz uma oferta de cereais,

como o que oferece

sangue de porco;

quem queima incenso,

como o que bendiz um ídolo.

Como estes escolheram

os seus próprios caminhos,

e a sua alma tem prazer

nas suas abominações,

4 assim eu lhes escolherei o castigo

e farei vir sobre eles

o que eles temem.

Porque clamei,

e ninguém respondeu;

falei, e não escutaram,

mas fizeram o que era mau

aos meus olhos

e escolheram aquilo

em que eu não tenho prazer."

5 Escutem a palavra do Senhor,

vocês que tremem

diante da sua palavra:

"Os irmãos de vocês

os odeiam e os rejeitam

por causa do amor de vocês

pelo meu nome.

Eles dizem: ‘Que o Senhor

mostre a sua glória,

para que vejamos

a alegria de vocês.’

Mas eles é que

serão envergonhados.

6 Voz de grande tumulto

virá da cidade,

voz do templo, voz do Senhor,

que dá a devida retribuição

aos seus inimigos."

7 "Antes de entrar em trabalho

de parto, deu à luz;

antes que lhe viessem as dores,

teve um menino.

8 Quem já ouviu uma coisa dessas?

Quem já viu algo assim?

Será que um país pode nascer

num só dia?

Será que uma nação pode nascer

de uma só vez?

Pois Sião, antes que lhe viessem

as dores,

deu à luz os seus filhos.

9 Será que eu faria vir as dores

de parto,

sem fazer com que

o filho nasça?" —

diz o Senhor.

"Será que eu, que faço nascer,

fecharia o ventre da mãe?" —

diz o seu Deus, ó Sião.

10 "Alegrem-se com Jerusalém

e exultem por causa dela,

todos vocês que a amam!

Alegrem-se com ela,

todos vocês

que por ela prantearam!

11 Porque vocês mamarão

nos peitos das suas consolações

e ficarão satisfeitos;

sugarão e se deliciarão

com a abundância

da sua glória."

12 Porque assim diz o Senhor:

"Eis que estenderei

sobre Jerusalém

a paz como um rio,

e a glória das nações,

como uma torrente

que transborda;

então vocês serão amamentados,

carregados nos braços

e acalentados no colo.

13 Tal como a mãe consola o filho,

assim eu os consolarei;

em Jerusalém

vocês serão consolados.

14 Vocês verão isso,

e o coração de vocês

ficará cheio de alegria;

e os seus ossos serão revigorados

como a erva tenra.

O poder do Senhor

será notório aos seus servos,

e ele se indignará

contra os seus inimigos."

15 Porque eis que o Senhor

virá em fogo,

e os seus carros de guerra,

como uma tempestade,

para tornar a sua ira em furor

e a sua repreensão,

em chamas de fogo.

16 Porque com fogo

e com a sua espada

o Senhor entrará em juízo

com toda a humanidade;

e serão muitos os mortos

da parte do Senhor.

17 O Senhor diz:

— Os que se santificam e se purificam para entrarem nos jardins após a deusa que está no meio, que comem carne de porco, coisas abomináveis e ratos serão todos destruídos ao mesmo tempo.

18 — Porque eu conheço as obras e os pensamentos deles e venho para ajuntar todas as nações e línguas; elas virão e contemplarão a minha glória. 19 Porei entre elas um sinal e alguns dos que foram salvos enviarei às nações, a Társis, Pul e Lude, que atiram com o arco, a Tubal e Javã, até as terras do mar mais remotas, que jamais ouviram falar de mim, nem viram a minha glória; eles anunciarão entre as nações a minha glória. 20 De todas essas nações, eles trarão todos os irmãos de vocês como uma oferta ao Senhor. Virão sobre cavalos, em carros, em liteiras e sobre mulas e camelos, ao meu santo monte, a Jerusalém, diz o Senhor, como quando os filhos de Israel trazem as suas ofertas de cereais, em vasos puros à Casa do Senhor. 21 Também deles escolherei alguns para sacerdotes e para levitas, diz o Senhor.

22 "Porque, assim como

os novos céus e a nova terra,

que hei de fazer,

estarão diante de mim",

diz o Senhor,

"assim também estão

diante de mim

a posteridade e o nome de vocês.

23 De uma Festa da Lua Nova

à outra

e de um sábado a outro,

toda a humanidade virá

adorar diante de mim",

diz o Senhor.

24 "Eles sairão e verão os cadáveres daqueles que se rebelaram contra mim; porque o seu verme nunca morrerá, nem o seu fogo se apagará; e eles serão um horror para toda a humanidade."

1 Thus says LORD, Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What manner of house will ye build to me, and what place shall be my rest?2 For all these things my hand has made, and all these things came to be, says LORD. But to this man I will look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.3 He who slaughters an ox is as he who kills a man. He who sacrifices a lamb, as he who breaks a dog's neck. He who offers an oblation, [as] swine's blood. He who burns frankincense, as he who blesses an idol. Yea, they have chosen t4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them. Because when I called, none answered. When I spoke, they did not hear. But they did that which was evil in my eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight5 Hear the word of LORD, ye who tremble at his word: Your brothers who hate you, who cast you out for my name's sake, have said, Let LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy. But it is those who shall be put to shame.6 A voice of tumult from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of LORD who renders recompense to his enemies.7 Before she travailed, she brought forth. Before her pain came, she was delivered of a man-child.8 Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her sons.9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? says LORD. Shall I who cause to bring forth shut [the womb]? says thy God.10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all ye who love her. Rejoice for joy with her, all ye who mourn over her,11 that ye may nurse and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations, that ye may [get] milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.12 For thus says LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream. And ye shall nurse [thereof]. Ye shall be borne upon the side, and shall be dandled upon the knees.13 As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you, and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.14 And ye shall see, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like the tender grass. And the hand of LORD shall be known toward his servants, and he will have indignation against his enemies.15 For, behold, LORD will come with fire, and his chariots shall be like the whirlwind, to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.16 For by fire LORD will execute judgment, and by his sword, upon all flesh, and the slain of LORD shall be many.17 Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves [to go] to the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, they shall come to an end together, says LORD.18 For I [know] their works and their thoughts. [The time] comes, that I will gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come, and shall see my glory.19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send such as escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles afar off, who have not heard my fame, nor have seen my glory, a20 And they shall bring all your brothers out of all the nations for an oblation to LORD, upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says LORD, as the sons of Isr21 And of them also I will take for priests [and] for Levites, says LORD.22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says LORD.24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the dead bodies of the men who have transgressed against me. For their worm shall not die, nor shall their fire be quenched, and they shall be an abhorring to all flesh.
