1 Do tronco de Jessé
sairá um rebento,
e das suas raízes
brotará um renovo.
2 Repousará sobre ele
o Espírito do Senhor,
o Espírito de sabedoria
e de entendimento,
o Espírito de conselho
e de fortaleza,
o Espírito de conhecimento
e de temor do Senhor.
3 Ele terá o seu prazer
no temor do Senhor.
Não julgará segundo a aparência,
nem decidirá pelo que ouviu dizer,
4 mas julgará com justiça os pobres
e decidirá com equidade
a favor dos mansos da terra.
Castigará a terra com a vara
de sua boca
e com o sopro dos seus lábios
matará o perverso.
5 O cinto dele será a justiça,
e a verdade será a faixa na cintura.
6 O lobo habitará com o cordeiro,
o leopardo se deitará
junto do cabrito,
o bezerro, o leão novo
e o novilho gordo andarão juntos,
e um pequenino os guiará.
7 A vaca e a ursa pastarão juntas,
e as suas crias juntas se deitarão;
e o leão comerá palha como o boi.
8 A criança de peito brincará
sobre a toca da cobra,
e o já desmamado meterá a mão
no ninho da serpente.
9 Não se fará mal nem dano algum
em todo o meu santo monte,
porque a terra se encherá
do conhecimento do Senhor,
como as águas cobrem o mar.
10 Naquele dia, a raiz de Jessé estará posta por estandarte dos povos. As nações recorrerão a ela, e a glória será a sua morada.
11 Naquele dia, o Senhor tornará a estender a mão para resgatar o resto do seu povo, que for deixado, da Assíria, do Egito, de Patros, da Etiópia, de Elão, de Sinar, de Hamate e das terras do mar.
12 Levantará um estandarte
para as nações,
ajuntará os desterrados de Israel
e recolherá os dispersos de Judá
desde os quatro cantos da terra.
13 A inveja de Efraim acabará,
e os adversários de Judá
serão eliminados.
Efraim não terá inveja de Judá,
e Judá não oprimirá Efraim.
14 Ao contrário, voarão
sobre os ombros
dos filisteus, ao Ocidente;
juntos despojarão
os filhos do Oriente;
estenderão as mãos
sobre Edom e Moabe,
e os filhos de Amom
lhes serão sujeitos.
15 O Senhor destruirá totalmente
o golfo do mar do Egito,
e com a força do seu vento
moverá a mão contra o Eufrates,
dividindo-o em sete canais,
para que qualquer um possa
atravessá-lo de sandálias.
16 Haverá um caminho plano
para o resto do seu povo
que for deixado na Assíria,
como houve para Israel
no dia em que saiu da terra do Egito.

1 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse. And a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.2 And the Spirit of LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of LORD.3 And his delight shall be in the fear of LORD. And he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, nor decide according to the hearing of his ears,4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.5 And righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together. And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of LORD as the waters cover the sea.10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, and he who arises to rule over the Gentiles (LXX/NT). In him shall the Gentiles hope (LXX/NT), and his resting-place shall be glorious.11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that LORD will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, and those who vex Judah shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.14 And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west. Together they shall despoil the sons of the east. They shall put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.15 And LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea. And with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dry shod.16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
