1 O Senhor Deus deu a Moisés as seguintes leis 2 para o povo de Israel:
Quando uma mulher der à luz um filho, ficará impura sete dias, como acontece durante a menstruação. 3 No oitavo dia o menino será circuncidado. 4 Depois disso, por causa da perda de sangue, ela ficará impura por mais trinta e três dias. Durante esse tempo ela não poderá tocar em nada sagrado, nem poderá ir até a Tenda Sagrada.
5 Se der à luz uma filha, a mulher ficará impura catorze dias, como acontece durante a menstruação. Depois disso, por causa da perda de sangue, ela ficará impura por mais sessenta e seis dias.
6 Depois desse tempo de purificação, seja no caso de um filho ou de uma filha, a mulher irá até a entrada da Tenda Sagrada e entregará ao sacerdote um carneirinho de um ano como oferta que é completamente queimada e um pombinho ou uma rolinha como oferta para tirar pecados. 7 O sacerdote apresentará a oferta ao Senhor a fim de conseguir o perdão dos pecados da mulher, e assim ela ficará pura. Esta é a lei a respeito da mulher que dá à luz.
8 Se não tiver recursos para oferecer um carneirinho, a mulher levará ao sacerdote duas rolinhas ou dois pombinhos; uma das aves será a oferta que é completamente queimada, e a outra será a oferta para tirar pecados. Por meio dessas ofertas o sacerdote conseguirá o perdão dos pecados da mulher, e ela ficará pura.

1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:2 Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, A woman when she conceiveth seed and giveth birth to a male child, then shall she be unclean seven days, according to the days of her removal in her sickness shall she be unclean.3 And, on the eighth day, shall the flesh of his foreskin be circumcised.4 And, for thirty-three days, shall she continue in the blood of purification,no hallowed thing, shall she touch, and, into the sanctuary, shall she not enter, until her days of purification are fulfilled.5 But if, a female child, she bear, then shall she be unclean two weeks as in her removal,and, for sixty-six days, shall she continue in the blood of purification.6 And, when the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring in a lamb, the choice of its year, as an ascending-sacrifice, and a young pigeon or a turtle-dove, as a sin-bearer, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, unto the priest;7 and he shall bring it near before Yahweh so shall the priest put a propitiatory-covering over her, and she shall be clean from her fountain of blood. This, is the law for her that hath given birth, to a male child or to a female.8 But, if her hand findeth not sufficiency for a lamb, then shall she take two turtle doves or two young pigeons, one for an ascending-sacrifice and one for a sin-bearer,so shall the priest put a propitiatory-covering over her, and she shall he clean.
