1 Então Jó falou novamente:

2 "Minha queixa hoje ainda é amarga,

e me esforço para não gemer.

3 Se ao menos eu soubesse onde encontrar a Deus,

iria a seu tribunal.

4 Exporia minha causa

e apresentaria meus argumentos.

5 Ouviria sua resposta

e entenderia o que ele me dissesse.

6 Acaso ele usaria seu grande poder para discutir comigo?

Não! Ele me ouviria com imparcialidade.

7 Os justos podem lhe apresentar sua causa;

meu Juiz me absolveria de uma vez por todas.

8 Se vou para o leste, lá ele não está;

sigo para o oeste, mas não consigo encontrá-lo.

9 Não o vejo no norte, pois está escondido;

quando olho para o sul, ele está oculto.

10 "E, no entanto, ele sabe aonde vou;

quando ele me provar, sairei puro como o ouro.

11 Pois permaneci nos caminhos de Deus;

segui seus passos e nunca me desviei.

12 Não me afastei de seus mandamentos;

dei mais valor a suas palavras que ao alimento diário.

13 Mas, quando ele toma sua decisão,

quem pode fazê-lo mudar de ideia?

Ele faz o que bem deseja.

14 Portanto, fará comigo tudo que planejou;

ele controla meu destino.

15 Não é de admirar que eu me apavore em sua presença;

quando penso nisso, entro em pânico.

16 Deus fez meu coração desfalecer;

o Todo-poderoso me encheu de medo.

17 A escuridão me cerca;

há trevas densas e impenetráveis por toda parte."

No; but he would put strength in me. 7 There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

8 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: 9 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: 10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.*23.10 that…: Heb. that is with me 11 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.*23.12 esteemed: Heb. hid, or, laid up*23.12 my…: or, my appointed portion

13 But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. 14 For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him. 15 Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him. 16 For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me: 17 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
