1 Disse-vos estas coisas para que não se desviem.
2 Porque serão expulsos das sinagogas, e aqueles que vos matarem julgarão ter feito um serviço a Deus, porque nunca conheceram nem o Pai nem a mim.
4 Sim, digo-vos estas coisas agora para que, quando se derem, se lembrem de que vos avisei. Não vos disse mais cedo porque ia ainda estar convosco mais algum tempo.
5 Agora, volto para aquele que me enviou. Mas nenhum de vocês me pergunta para onde vou.
6 Em vez disso, sentem apenas tristeza.
7 Mas a verdade é que melhor vos será que eu me vá, porque se eu não for, não virá o Espírito Santo. Se eu for, ele virá, pois vou enviá-lo a vocês.
8 E quando ele vier, convencerá o mundo do pecado, de que tem de contar com a justiça de Deus, e de que haverá um juízo.
9 O pecado do mundo é não crer em mim. Haverá justiça porque eu vou para o Pai e vocês não me verão mais. O juízo virá porque o príncipe deste mundo já foi julgado.
12 Ficam ainda tantas outras coisas que vos queria dizer, mas agora não as podem suportar!
13 Mas quando o Espírito da verdade vier, ele vos guiará em toda a verdade. Ele não vos apresentará as suas próprias ideias, antes irá transmitir aquilo que ouviu. Ele vos revelará o futuro. Louvar-me-á e me trará grande honra, mostrando-vos a minha glória.
15 Toda a glória do Pai me pertence; é isto que quero dizer ao afirmar que ele vos mostrará a minha glória.
16 Mais um pouco de tempo e terei partido, e não me tornarão a ver; mas mais um pouco de tempo ainda e ver-me-ão de novo!
17 Mas que está ele a dizer?, interrogaram-se os discípulos. Que é isto quando ele diz: 'Vocês não me verão, mas mais tarde hão-de ver-me'? Que quer dizer: 'Eu vou para o Pai'? E o que significa: 'um pouco mais tarde'? Não entendemos.
19 Jesus percebeu que eles pretendiam que se explicasse melhor e disse: Perguntam a si mesmos o que quero dizer? Eu disse, num breve tempo partirei e vocês não me verão mais. Então um pouco mais tarde, vocês me verão de novo. O mundo ficará muito feliz com o que me vai acontecer, e vocês chorarão. Mas o vosso choro se transformará de súbito em alegria, a mesma alegria que tem uma mulher quando nasce o seu filho, pois nela, ao medo segue-se o encanto, e a dor fica esquecida.
22 Agora têm desgosto, mas eu tornarei a ver-vos, e então alegrar-se-ão; e essa alegria ninguém vo-la pode roubar. Então não precisarão de me pedir nada, pois poderão falar com o Pai e pedir-lhe, e ele vos dará o que desejam se falarem em meu nome. Ainda não experimentaram fazê-lo; mas peçam, invocando o meu nome, e receberão, e terão alegria abundante.
25 Falei nestas coisas muito por meio de parábolas, mas virá o tempo em que isso não será necessário e em que de forma bem clara vos revelarei o Pai. Então poderão apresentar os vossos pedidos em meu nome. E não será preciso eu pedir ao Pai por vós, pois o próprio Pai vos tem grande amor por me amarem e crerem que venho dele. Sim, vim do Pai a este mundo, e deixarei o mundo para voltar para o Pai.
29 Até que enfim que falas claramente, reconheceram os discípulos, e não por enigmas. Agora compreendemos que sabes tudo e sabes até o que precisamos de conhecer, sem te interrogarmos. Por isso acreditamos que foi de Deus que vieste.
31 Jesus disse: Acreditam finalmente? Mas virá tempo, e é agora mesmo, em que serão espalhados, cada um seguindo o seu próprio caminho, deixando-me só. No entanto, não estarei sozinho, porque o Pai está comigo.
33 Disse-vos tudo isto para que tenham paz. Aqui na Terra terão muitos sofrimentos; mas tenham coragem, porque eu venci o mundo.
1 These things, have I spoken unto you, that ye may not be caused to stumble:
2 Excommunicants from the synagogue, will they make you; Nay! there cometh an hour, that, every one who killeth you, shall think to be rendering, divine service, unto God!
3 And, these things, will they do, because they got to know, neither the Father nor me.
4 But, these things, have I told you,That, whensoever their hour shall come, ye may remember, that, thereof, I told you. These things, however, I told you not, from the beginning, because I was, with you;
5 But, now, I go my way unto him that sent me, and, not one from among you, questioneth meWhither goest thou?
6 But, because, these things, I have told you, sorrow, hath filled your heart.
7 But, I, the truth, am telling youIt is profitable for you, that, I, depart; for, if I should not depart, The Advocate, would in nowise come unto you, but, if I go, I will send him unto you.
8 And, having come, He, will reprove the worldConcerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment:
9 Concerning sin, indeed, because they are not believing on me;
10 But, concerning righteousness, because, unto the Father, I go my way, and, no longer, do ye behold me;
11 And, concerning judgment, because, the ruler of this world, hath been judged.
12 Yet many things, have I, unto you, to be saying,but ye cannot bear them, just now;
13 Howbeit, as soon as, he, hath comeThe Spirit of truth, he will guide you into all truth; for he will not speak from himself, but, whatsoever he heareth, he will speak, and, the coming things, will he announce unto you.
14 He, shall glorify me; for, of mine, shall he receive, and announce unto you.
15 All things, whatsoever the Father hath, are, my own; therefore, said IOf mine, shall he receive, and announce unto you.
16 A little while, and, no longer, ye behold me; and, again a little while, and ye shall see me.
17 Some of his disciples, therefore, said one to anotherWhat is this which he is saying to us:A little while, and ye behold me not, and, again a little while, and ye shall see me; andBecause I go my way unto the Father?
18 They were saying, thereforeWhat is this which he saith:A little while? We know not what he is saying .
19 Jesus took note, that they were wishing to question him, and said unto themConcerning this, are ye enquiring one with another,because I said:A little while, and ye behold me not, and, again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
20 Verily, verily, I say unto youYe, shall weep and lament, but, the world, shall rejoice: Ye, shall be grieved, but, your grief, into joy, shall be turned.
21 A woman, as soon as she is about to bring forth, hath, grief, because her hour hath come; but, as soon as she hath given birth to the child, no longer, remembereth she the anguish, by reason of the joy, that a human being into the world hath been born.
22 And, ye, therefore, now, indeed have grief; but, again, will I see you, and your heart shall rejoice,and, your joy, no one, shall force from you.
23 And, in that day, shall ye request me, nothing:Verily, verily, I say unto youWhatsoever ye shall ask the Father, He will give you, in my name.
24 Until even now, ye have asked nothing in my name: Be asking, and ye shall receive,that, your joy, may be made full.
25 These things, in similitudes, have I spoken unto you: There cometh an hour, when, no longer in similitudes, will I speak unto you, but, openly, concerning the Father, will I tell you.
26 In that day, In my name, shall ye ask:and I say not that, I, will request the Father for you;
27 For, the Father himself, dearly loveth you, because, ye, have dearly loved me, and believed that, I, from the Father, came forth:
28 I came forth out of the Father, and have come into the world,Again, I leave the world, and go, unto the Father.
29 His disciples saySee! now, openly, art thou speaking, and, not a single similitude, art thou using:
30 Now, we know, that thou knowest all things, and hast, no need, that one be questioning thee. Hereby, do we believe, that, from God, thou camest forth.
31 Jesus answered themAs yet, ye believe:
32 Lo! there cometh an hour, and hath come, that ye should be scattered, each, unto his own home; and, me, alone, should leave;And yet I am not, alone, but, the Father, is, with me!
33 These things, have I spoken unto you, that, in me, ye may have, peace: In the world, ye have, tribulation; but be taking courage,I, have overcome the world.
