1 Sendo, pois, declarados justos pela fé, temos paz com Deus, devido ao que nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo fez por nós. Pois em razão da nossa fé, temos direito a esta graça, e em confiança nos regozijamos pelo dia em que partilhamos da glória de Deus.

3 E também nos regozijamos nas tribulações, porque sabemos que ensinam a persistência. Depois a persistência fortalece-nos o carácter, e ajuda-nos para que a nossa esperança se torne forte. E nessa esperança não ficaremos desiludidos, pois sentimos o amor de Deus nos nossos corações pelo Espírito Santo, que ele nos deu.

6 Quando nos encontrávamos sem possibilidades de sair da situação de pecadores culpados, Cristo veio, no momento oportuno, e morreu por nós, pecadores.

7 Mesmo que fôssemos justos, poderia ser talvez que alguém viesse a morrer por nós; não é vulgar que alguém morra por uma pessoa boa.2

8 Mas Deus prova o seu amor para connosco em que Cristo morreu por nós, sendo nós ainda pecadores.

9 E visto que pelo sangue de Cristo Deus nos tornou rectos aos seus olhos, quanto mais não fará ele agora em nosso favor, salvando-nos do julgamento divino que há-de vir

10 E se, quando éramos inimigos de Deus, fomos trazidos em paz para junto dele pela morte de seu Filho, quanto mais, tendo sido reconciliados com Deus, seremos salvos de castigo eterno pela sua vida.

11 E agora alegramo-nos intensamente na relação que Deus estabeleceu connosco; tudo, sempre, por causa do que nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo fez, morrendo pelos nossos pecados, fazendo de nós amigos de Deus.

12 Quando Adão pecou, o pecado transmitiu-se a toda a raça humana, e trouxe como consequência a morte a todos; e todos foram contados como pecadores. Mas desde Adão até Moisés, e embora naturalmente as pessoas pecassem, Deus não as julgou por desobediência a uma lei, porque justamente Deus ainda não lhes tinha dado as suas leis. Assim essas pessoas morreram em consequência do pecado, ainda que não tivessem desobedecido a uma determinada lei de Deus tal como Adão, o qual é uma figura, por contraste com Cristo, que ainda havia de vir!

15 Há uma grande diferença entre o pecado do homem e o perdão de Deus! Um só homem, Adão, trouxe a morte a muitos, por causa do seu pecado. Mas também um só homem, Jesus Cristo, trouxe o perdão a muita gente através da abundante misericórdia de Deus.

16 E o resultado da oferta graciosa de Deus é muito diferente do resultado do pecado daquele único homem. Porque o pecado de Adão trouxe o castigo da morte a muitos, enquanto que Cristo gratuitamente tira muitos pecados e oferece em seu lugar a aprovação de Deus

17 O pecado de um só homem, Adão, fez com que a morte dominasse toda a natureza humana, mas todos os que receberam a maravilhosa graça e justificação de Deus terão, agora, o domínio da vida, através do acto também de um só, Jesus Cristo.

18 É verdade que o pecado de Adão trouxe a todos o castigo, mas a justiça de Deus tornou possível que os homens se tornem justos perante Deus, para que assim possam viver

19 Adão, porque desobedeceu a Deus, fez com que muitos se tornassem pecadores, mas Cristo, porque lhe obedeceu, fez que muitos também fossem aceites por Deus.

20 A lei foi dada a fim de que todos pudessem ver bem quanto tinham falhado em obedecer a Deus. Mas se o nosso pecado é grande, muito maior e mais abundante é a graça de Deus que nos perdoa. Antes, o pecado governava sem limites todos os homens, levando-os à morte, mas agora é a misericórdia de Deus, que não merecíamos, que governa, colocando-nos numa posição de justiça perante Deus e de acesso à vida eterna por Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor.

1 Having, therefore, been declared righteous by faith, let us have, peace, towards God, through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Through whom also we have had, our introduction, by our faith into this favour wherein we stand; and let us boast in hope of the glory of God.

3 And, not only so, but let us boast also in our tribulations; knowing that, our tribulation, worketh out endurance.

4 And, our endurance, a testing, and, our testing, hope,

5 And, our hope, putteth not to shame. Because, the love of God, hath been poured out in our hearts, through the Holy Spirit that hath been given unto us:

6 Seeing that, Christ, we being weak as yet, seasonably, in behalf of such as were ungodly, died.

7 For, scarcely in behalf of a righteous man, will one die,in behalf of the good man indeed, peradventure one even dareth to die;

8 But God commendeth his own love unto us in thatwe as yet being sinners, Christ in our behalf died.

9 Much more, then, having now been declared righteous by his blood, shall we be saved through him from the anger.

10 For, if being enemies we were reconciled unto God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

11 And, not only, so, but are even boasting in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ ,through whom, now, the reconciliation we have received.

12 For this cause,just as, through one man, sin into the world entered, and through sin, death,and, so, unto all men death passed through, for that all had sinned;

13 For, until law, sin was in the world, although sin is not reckoned when there is no law,

14 Yet still, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them who had not sinned after the likeness of the transgression of Adam,who is a type of the Coming One;

15 But, not as the fault, so, also the decree of favour, for, if, by the fault of the one, the many died, much more, the favour of God and the free-gift in favour, by the one man Jesus Christ, unto the many superabounded;

16 And, not as through one that sinned, is that which is freely given, for, the sentence of judgment, indeed, wasout of one into condemnation, whereas, the decree of favour, isout of many faults, into a recovery of righteousness.

17 For, if, by the fault of the one, death reigned through the one, much more, they who the superabundance of the favour and of the free-gift of the righteousness do receive, in life, shall reign through the one, Jesus Christ.

18 Hence then, as through one fault, is unto all men for righteous acquittal unto life;

19 For, just as, through the disobedience of the one man, sinners, the many were constituted, so, also, through the obedience of the one, righteous, the many shall be constituted

20 Law, however, gained admission, in order that the fault might abound, but, where the sin abounded, the favour greatly superabounded:

21 In order thatjust as sin reigned in death, so, also, favour, might reign through righteousness unto life age-abiding, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
