1 Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and ungird the loins of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed:2 "I will go before you and level the mountains, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron,3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.4 For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name, I surname you, though you do not know me.5 I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I gird you, though you do not know me,6 that men may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.7 I form light and create darkness, I make weal and create woe, I am the LORD, who do all these things.8 "Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the skies rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation may sprout forth, and let it cause righteousness to spring up also; I the LORD have created it.9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker, an earthen vessel with the potter! Does the clay say to him who fashions it, `What are you making'? or `Your work has no handles'?10 Woe to him who says to a father, `What are you begetting?' or to a woman, `With what are you in travail?'"11 Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Will you question me about my children, or command me concerning the work of my hands?12 I made the earth, and created man upon it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.13 I have aroused him in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways; he shall build my city and set my exiles free, not for price or reward," says the LORD of hosts.14 Thus says the LORD: "The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabe'ans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours, they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying: `God is with you only, and there is no other, no god besides him.'"15 Truly, thou art a God who hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior.16 All of them are put to shame and confounded, the makers of idols go in confusion together.17 But Israel is saved by the LORD with everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or confounded to all eternity.18 For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it a chaos, he formed it to be inhabited!): "I am the LORD, and there is no other.19 I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, `Seek me in chaos.' I the LORD speak the truth, I declare what is right.20 "Assemble yourselves and come, draw near together, you survivors of the nations! They have no knowledge who carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a god that cannot save.21 Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me.22 "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.23 By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: `To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.'24 "Only in the LORD, it shall be said of me, are righteousness and strength; to him shall come and be ashamed, all who were incensed against him.25 In the LORD all the offspring of Israel shall triumph and glory."

1 O Senhor ungiu Ciro como rei.

Ele o pegou pela mão direita

e lhe deu poder para conquistar nações

e derrotar reis.

Para que Ciro entre nas cidades,

o Senhor abre os portões,

e ninguém pode fechá-los de novo.

O Senhor Deus diz a Ciro:

2 "Eu irei na sua frente

e aplanarei as montanhas;

arrebentarei portões de bronze

e quebrarei as suas trancas de ferro.

3 Eu lhe darei tesouros escondidos,

riquezas guardadas em lugares secretos

a fim de que você saiba que eu sou o Senhor,

o Deus de Israel, que o chama pelo nome.

4 Eu o estou chamando para que você ajude o povo de Israel,

o meu povo escolhido.

E, embora você não me conheça,

eu lhe dou um título de honra.

5 "Eu, e somente eu, sou o Senhor;

não há outro deus além de mim.

Embora você não me conheça,

eu lhe dou força para lutar.

6 Faço isso para que, de leste a oeste,

o mundo inteiro saiba

que além de mim não existe outro deus.

Eu, e somente eu, sou o Senhor.

7 Eu sou o Criador da luz e da escuridão

e mando bênçãos e maldições;

eu, o Senhor, faço tudo isso.

8 "Assim como a chuva vem de cima,

eu enviarei do céu a minha vitória.

A terra se abrirá para recebê-la

e fará brotar a salvação e a liberdade.

Eu, o Senhor, farei isso."

9 Um vaso de barro não briga com quem o fez.

O barro não pergunta ao oleiro: "O que é que você está fazendo?",

nem diz: "Você não sabe trabalhar."

10 E um filho não se atreve a dizer aos seus pais:

"Por que vocês fizeram com que eu viesse ao mundo?"

11 O Senhor, o Santo Deus de Israel,

o seu Criador, diz:

"Por acaso, vocês vão exigir que eu explique como cuido dos meus filhos?

Vocês querem me ensinar a fazer as coisas?

12 Fui eu que fiz a terra

e criei os seres humanos para morarem nela.

Com as minhas próprias mãos, estendi o céu

e ordenei que o sol, a lua e as estrelas aparecessem.

13 Eu mesmo ordenei a Ciro que começasse a agir

e lhe prometi a vitória.

Eu aplanarei os caminhos por onde ele vai passar.

Ele reconstruirá Jerusalém, a minha cidade,

e porá em liberdade o meu povo que está no cativeiro,

sem exigir nenhum pagamento para fazer isso.

Sou eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, quem está falando."

14 O Senhor diz ao povo de Israel:

"Vocês ficarão com as riquezas do Egito, da Etiópia

e dos moradores de Sebá, aquela gente alta.

Vocês os derrotarão, e eles serão os seus escravos;

e, presos com correntes, irão andando atrás de vocês.

Eles se ajoelharão na frente de vocês

e declararão humildemente:

‘Deus está com vocês, e não há outro deus além dele.’ "

15 O Deus de Israel, que salva o seu povo,

é um Deus que se esconde das pessoas.

16 Os que fazem imagens serão humilhados,

todos eles passarão vergonha.

17 Mas o povo de Israel foi salvo pelo Senhor;

ele os salvou para sempre,

e eles nunca serão humilhados, nem passarão vergonha.

18 O Senhor, que criou os céus,

é o único Deus.

Ele fez a terra, e lhe deu forma,

e a colocou no seu lugar.

Ele não a criou para que ficasse vazia,

mas para que houvesse moradores nela.

O Senhor Deus diz:

"Eu sou o Senhor, e não há outro deus.

19 Eu não falei em segredo,

não falei num lugar escuro

e não disse ao povo de Israel

que me procurasse num lugar deserto.

Eu, o Senhor, falo a verdade,

e o que digo sempre merece confiança."

20 O Senhor Deus diz:

"Venham e ajuntem-se, todos os povos que escaparam com vida ,

e apresentem-se no tribunal.

Não sabem nada as pessoas

que oram a deuses que não podem salvá-las,

pessoas que fazem procissões,

carregando as suas imagens de madeira.

21 Falem logo e apresentem as suas razões;

consultem uns aos outros, se quiserem.

Quem foi que anunciou há muito tempo

as coisas que iam acontecer?

Não fui eu mesmo, o Senhor?

Pois não há outro deus além de mim;

eu sou o único Deus,

o Deus fiel que salva o seu povo.

22 "Povos do mundo inteiro,

voltem para mim, e eu os salvarei,

pois eu sou Deus, e não há nenhum outro.

23 Fiz um juramento no meu próprio nome;

o que eu digo é verdade

e nunca deixará de acontecer.

Juro que todos se ajoelharão diante de mim

e prometerão ser fiéis a mim.

24 Declararão que somente eu, o Senhor,

posso dar poder e vitória.

Todos os que me têm combatido

ficarão humilhados e envergonhados na minha presença.

25 Mas eu, o Senhor, darei a vitória ao meu povo,

e eles me louvarão."
