1 "Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in travail! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her that is married, says the LORD.2 Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; hold not back, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.3 For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your descendants will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.4 "Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.5 For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called.6 For the LORD has called you like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God.7 For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion I will gather you.8 In overflowing wrath for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you, says the LORD, your Redeemer.9 "For this is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you and will not rebuke you.10 For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you.11 "O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires.12 I will make your pinnacles of agate, your gates of carbuncles, and all your wall of precious stones.13 All your sons shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the prosperity of your sons.14 In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.15 If any one stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you.16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals, and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy;17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, says the LORD."

1 Jerusalém, você nunca teve filhos,

você nunca sentiu dores de parto,

mas agora cante e grite de alegria,

pois o Senhor diz:

"A mulher abandonada terá mais filhos

do que a que mora com o marido."

2 Aumente a sua barraca,

torne ainda maior o lugar onde você mora

e não faça economia nisso.

Encompride as cordas da barraca e pregue bem as estacas.

3 Pois você vai estender as suas fronteiras para todos os lados;

o seu povo será novamente dono

das regiões que os seus inimigos conquistaram,

e cidades desertas ficarão cheias de gente.

4 Não tenha medo, pois você não ficará envergonhada;

não se assuste, pois você não será humilhada.

Você esquecerá como foi humilhada quando era jovem ,

não lembrará mais da desgraça da sua viuvez .

5 Pois o seu Criador, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, será seu marido;

o Santo Deus de Israel, o Deus do mundo inteiro, a salvará.

6 Você estava aflita como uma mulher abandonada pelo marido,

mas o Senhor a está chamando de volta.

O seu Deus diz:

"Será que alguém poderia mandar embora

a mulher com quem casou quando era jovem?

7 Eu a abandonei, mas só por um momento,

e agora, com grande amor, eu a receberei de volta.

8 Na minha ira e no meu furor,

eu me escondi de você por um momento;

mas com amor eterno eu terei compaixão de você."

É isso o que diz o Senhor, o seu Salvador.

9 O Senhor Deus diz:

"No tempo do dilúvio, eu jurei a Noé

que nunca mais as águas cobririam a terra;

assim eu juro agora que nunca mais ficarei irado com você,

que jamais a castigarei de novo.

10 As montanhas podem desaparecer,

os montes podem se desfazer,

mas o meu amor por você não acabará nunca,

e a minha aliança de paz com você nunca será quebrada."

É isso o que diz o Senhor,

que tem amor por você.

11 O Senhor Deus diz:

"Ó Jerusalém, aflita e castigada pela tempestade,

sem ninguém que a console!

Eu a reconstruirei com pedras preciosas,

e os seus alicerces serão de safiras.

12 As suas torres serão de rubis,

os seus portões serão de berilo,

as suas muralhas, de pedras preciosas.

13 Eu mesmo ensinarei todos os seus moradores,

e eles viverão em paz e segurança.

14 Você será fundada sobre a justiça

e por isso viverá segura,

livre para sempre da violência e do terror.

15 Se alguém a atacar, não será por minha ordem;

você derrotará todos os que lutarem contra você.

16 "Eu crio o ferreiro, que sopra as brasas

e fabrica armas de guerra.

Eu crio também o soldado,

que usa as armas para destruir e matar.

17 Mas nenhuma arma poderá derrotar você,

e, se alguém for ao tribunal para acusá-la,

você não será condenada.

O que eu faço pelos meus servos é isto:

eu lhes dou a vitória."

O Senhor falou.
