A prosperidade dos pecadores acaba, mas somente os justos serão felizes

1 *Pv 23.17;24.19Não te indignes por causa dos malfeitores,

nem tenhas *Sl 73.3;Pv 3.31inveja dos que obram a iniquidade.

2 Pois cedo serão *Jó 14.2;Sl 90.6;92.7ceifados como a relva

e *Sl 129.6murcharão como a erva verde.

3 *Sl 62.8Confia em Jeová e faze o bem;

*Dt 30.20habita na terra e *Is 40.11;Ez 34.13-14segue a fidelidade.

4 *Sl 94.19;Jó 22.26;Is 58.14Assim te deleitarás em Jeová,

e ele *Sl 21.2;145.19;Mt 7.7-8concederá os desejos do teu coração.

5 *Sl 55.22;Pv 16.3;1Pe 5.7Entrega a Jeová o teu caminho;

põe também nele a confiança, e ele fará,

6 sim, ele fará sair como a luz *Sl 97.11;Is 58.8,10;Mq 7.9a tua retidão

e, *Jó 11.17como o meio-dia, o teu direito.

7 *Sl 62.5Descansa em Jeová e *Sl 40.1com paciência espera por ele;

*Sl 37.1,8não te enfades por causa daquele que *Jr 12.1prospera no seu caminho,

por causa do homem que executa maus desígnios.

8 Deixa a ira e *Ef 4.31;Cl 3.8abandona o furor;

não te enfades; isso só leva à pratica do mal.

9 Pois serão exterminados *Sl 37.2,22os malfeitores,

mas os que esperam por Jeová, esses *Sl 25.13;Pv 2.21;Is 60.21herdarão a terra.

10 Ainda *Jó 24.24um pouco de tempo, e não existirá o iníquo;

poderás observar diligentemente *Sl 37.35-36;Jó 7.10o seu lugar, e ele já não é.

11 Mas *Mt 5.5os mansos herdarão a terra

e se deleitarão na *Sl 72.7abundância de paz.

12 O iníquo *Sl 31.13,20urde tramas contra o justo

e contra ele *Sl 35.16range os dentes.

13 Dele *Sl 2.4se rirá o Senhor,

pois vê que se *1Sm 26.10;Jó 18.20está aproximando o seu dia.

14 Desembainham a espada os iníquos e *Sl 11.2;Lm 2.4armam o arco,

para derrubarem o *Sl 35.10;86.1aflito e o necessitado,

*Sl 11.2para matarem aqueles cujo caminho é reto.

15 A sua espada lhes entrará no coração,

*Sl 46.9;1Sm 2.4e os seus arcos serão quebrados.

16 *Sl 4.7;Pv 15.16;16.8Mais vale o pouco que o justo tem

do que a abundância de muitos iníquos.

mas Jeová *Sl 71.6;145.14sustém os justos.

18 Jeová *Sl 1.6;31.7conhece os dias dos íntegros,

e a *Sl 37.27,29herança deles permanecerá para sempre.

19 Não serão envergonhados no tempo do mal,

*Sl 33.19;Jó 5.20e, nos dias da fome, serão fartos.

20 Os *Sl 73.27iníquos, porém, perecerão,

e os inimigos de Jeová serão como as mais belas pastagens.

Eles se desfarão; *Sl 68.2;102.3em fumaça se desfarão.

21 O iníquo toma emprestado e não paga;

mas o justo se *Sl 112.5compadece e dá.

22 Pois os que por ele são abençoados *Sl 37.9herdarão a terra;

mas os que por ele são *Jó 5.3amaldiçoados serão exterminados.

23 Por Jeová são firmados *Sl 40.2;66.9;119.5;1Sm 2.9os passos do homem,

em cujo caminho *Sl 147.11se deleita.

24 Ainda que *Sl 145.14;Pv 24.16;Mq 7.8caia, não ficará prostrado,

pois *Sl 147.6Jeová lhe segura a mão.

25 Fui mancebo, e já sou velho;

*Sl 37.28;Is 41.17;Hb 13.5não vi ainda o justo abandonado,

nem a *Sl 109.10sua descendência mendigando o pão.

26 *Sl 37.21Compadece-se o dia todo e empresta,

e a sua *Sl 147.13descendência é abençoada.

27 *Sl 34.14Desvia-te do mal e faze o bem.

Assim, *Sl 37.18;102.28possuirás para sempre a tua morada.

28 Pois Jeová *Sl 11.7;33.5ama a justiça

e não *Sl 37.25desampara os seus santos.

Eles serão *Sl 31.23preservados para sempre,

mas a *Sl 21.10;37.9;Pv 2.22;Is 14.20descendência dos iníquos será exterminada.

29 Os justos *Sl 37.9herdarão a terra

e nela *Sl 37.18habitarão para sempre.

30 A boca do justo *Sl 49.3;Pv 10.13profere a sabedoria,

e a sua língua *Sl 101.1;119.13fala o juízo.

31 *Sl 40.8;119.11;Dt 6.6;Is 51.7;Jr 31.33A lei do seu Deus está no seu coração;

não resvalarão *Sl 26.1;37.23os seus passos.

32 *Sl 10.8;17.11O iníquo espreita ao justo

*Sl 37.14e busca tirar-lhe a vida.

33 Jeová não o *Sl 31.8;2Pe 2.9deixará ao seu dispor,

nem o *Sl 34.22;109.31condenará, quando for julgado.

34 *Sl 27.14;37.9Espera em Jeová e segue o seu caminho,

e ele te exaltará para herdares a terra.

Quando os *Sl 52.5-6;91.8iníquos forem exterminados, tu o verás.

35 *Jó 5.3;Jr 12.2Vi o iníquo cheio de prepotência

e espalhando-se como *Jó 8.16a árvore verde na terra natal.

36 Mas passei, e eis que *Sl 37.10;Jó 20.5desaparecera;

procurei-o, mas ele não pôde ser encontrado.

37 Nota o *Sl 37.18homem perfeito, considera o *Sl 7.10reto;

Porque há para o homem de paz *Is 57.1-2um porvir.

38 Quanto aos transgressores, serão, *Sl 37.20,28à uma, destruídos;

a posteridade dos iníquos *9;37.9;73.17será exterminada.

39 Mas *Sl 3.8;62.1a salvação dos justos vem de Jeová;

ele é a sua fortaleza, *Sl 9.9;37.19no tempo da tribulação.

40 *Sl 54.4Jeová ajuda-os e livra-os;

*Sl 22.4;Dn 3.17;6.23livra-os dos iníquos e salva-os,

porque nele *Sl 34.22se refugiaram.

A Psalm of David.

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.*37.3 verily: Heb. in truth, or, stableness

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.*37.5 Commit…: Heb. Roll thy way upon

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.*37.7 Rest in: Heb. Be silent to

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.*37.12 plotteth: or, practiseth

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.*37.14 such…: Heb. the upright of way

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.*37.20 the fat: Heb. the preciousness

21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.*37.23 ordered: or, established

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.*37.26 ever: Heb. all the day

27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.*37.31 steps: or, goings

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.*37.35 a green…: or, a green tree that groweth in his own soil

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
