1 *Livra-me dos meus inimigos, Deus meu;

*põe-me acima do alcance dos que se levantam contra mim.

2 Livra-me dos que *obram a iniquidade

e salva-me dos homens *sanguinários.

3 Pois eis que *estão de emboscada à minha alma;

*reúnem-se contra mim os fortes,

não por transgressão minha, nem por pecado meu, ó Jeová.

4 *Estou sem culpa, mas eles correm e se apercebem.

*Desperta, para vires ao meu encontro, e olha.

5 Tu, *Jeová dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel,

levanta-te para *punires todas as nações.

*Não te compadeças de nenhum dos que traiçoeiramente obram a iniquidade. (Selá)

6 Eles voltam de tarde, uivam como *um cão

E andam rodeando a cidade.

7 Eis *que soltam as suas bocas,

nos seus lábios, há *espadas.

Pois *quem, dizem eles, é o que ouve?

8 Mas tu, Jeová, *te rirás deles,

*zombarás de todas as nações.

9 Em ti, força minha, esperarei;

pois Deus é *meu alto refúgio.

10 Meu Deus *com sua benignidade me virá ao encontro;

Deus me *fará ver o meu desejo sobre os meus inimigos.

11 Não os mates, *para que o meu povo não se esqueça;

*dispersa-os pelo teu poder e derruba-os,

Jeová, *escudo nosso.

12 Pelo *pecado da sua boca, pelas palavras dos seus lábios,

*sejam eles ilaqueados na sua soberba,

e pelas *execrações e mentiras que proferem.

13 *Consome-os com indignação,

consome-os, para que não existam mais

*e saibam eles que Deus reina em Jacó,

até os confins da terra. (Selá)

14 *Tornem a vir de tarde, uivem como um cão

e andem rodeando a cidade!

15 Quanto a eles, andarão vagueando à cata de comer;

e, se não se fartarem, passarão a noite toda.

16 Mas, quanto a mim, *cantarei a tua fortaleza;

*sim, com júbilo, celebrarei *pela manhã a tua benignidade,

pois tens sido para mim uma *alta torre

e *refúgio no dia da minha angústia.

17 A ti, *força minha, cantarei louvores;

porque Deus é *minha alta torre, o Deus da minha benignidade.

1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.***

2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.*

5 Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.*

10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.*

11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.**

16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
