Davi suplica a Deus que o livre e protesta a sua inocência

3 Pois eis que *Sl 56.6estão de emboscada à minha alma;

não por transgressão minha, nem por pecado meu, ó Jeová.

6 Eles voltam de tarde, uivam como *Sl 22.16um cão

E andam rodeando a cidade.

7 Eis *Sl 94.4;Pv 15.2,28que soltam as suas bocas,

nos seus lábios, há *Sl 57.4espadas.

Pois *Sl 10.11;73.11;94.7;Jó 22.13quem, dizem eles, é o que ouve?

8 Mas tu, Jeová, *Sl 37.13te rirás deles,

*Sl 2.4zombarás de todas as nações.

9 Em ti, força minha, esperarei;

pois Deus é *Sl 18.17meu alto refúgio.

10 Meu Deus *Sl 21.3com sua benignidade me virá ao encontro;

Deus me *Sl 54.7fará ver o meu desejo sobre os meus inimigos.

11 Não os mates, *Dt 4.9;6.12para que o meu povo não se esqueça;

12 Pelo *Pv 12.13pecado da sua boca, pelas palavras dos seus lábios,

e pelas *Sl 10.7execrações e mentiras que proferem.

consome-os, para que não existam mais

*Sl 83.18e saibam eles que Deus reina em Jacó,

14 *Sl 59.6Tornem a vir de tarde, uivem como um cão

e andem rodeando a cidade!

15 Quanto a eles, andarão vagueando à cata de comer;

e, se não se fartarem, passarão a noite toda.

2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.*59.4 help: Heb. meet

5 Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.*59.9 defence: Heb. high place

10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.*59.10 enemies: Heb. observers

11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.*59.15 for meat: Heb. to eat*59.15 and grudge…: or, if they be not satisfied, then they will stay all night

16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
