Davi confia em Deus e roga-lhe que o defenda dos ímpios

Sigaiom que Davi cantou a Jeová a respeito das palavras de Cuxe, benjamita

1 Jeová, Deus meu, *Sl 31.1;71.1em ti busco refúgio;

salva-me de todos os que me perseguem e *Sl 31.15livra-me,

2 para que não dilacere ele, *Sl 57.4qual leão, a minha alma,

despedaçando-a, sem haver quem acuda.

3 Jeová, Deus meu, se eu fiz isso,

se há *1Sm 24.11iniquidade nas minhas mãos;

4 se *Sl 109.4paguei com mal ao que tinha paz comigo

(Antes, *1Sm 24.7;26.9livrei aquele que sem motivo era meu adversário.)

5 persiga o inimigo a minha alma e alcance-a;

espezinhe ele no chão a minha vida

e faça habitar no pó a minha glória. (Selá)

10 O meu *Sl 18.2escudo está em Deus,

que *Sl 97.10-11salva os retos de coração.

11 Deus é um juiz *Sl 50.6justo,

um Deus que sente *Sl 90.9indignação todos os dias.

12 Se alguém não se *Sl 58.4-5arrepender,

Deus *Dt 32.41afiará a sua espada;

já *Sl 64.7armou o seu arco e tem-no pronto.

13 Para ele já preparou os instrumentos de morte,

as suas *Sl 18.14;45.5setas, fá-las ardentes.

14 Eis que o mau está com dores de iniquidade,

*Jó 15.35;Is 59.4;Tg 1.15concebe a malvadez e dá à luz a falsidade.

15 Abriu um poço, e cavou-o,

e *Sl 57.6cairá no fosso que fez.

16 A sua *Sl 140.9malvadez tornará a cair sobre a sua cabeça,

e, sobre a sua mioleira, descerá a sua *Sl 140.11violência.

17 Darei graças a Jeová, *Sl 71.15-16segundo a sua retidão,

e *Sl 9.2;65.1-2,4cantarei louvores ao nome de Jeová Altíssimo.

1 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:*7.1 words: or, business

2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.*7.2 none…: Heb. not a deliverer

3 O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

6 Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.

7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

8 The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.*7.11 judgeth…: or, is a righteous judge

12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
