A quinta trombeta

1 *Ap 8.2,13O quinto anjo tocou a trombeta. Vi uma *Ap 8.10estrela caída do céu na terra, e foi-lhe dada *Ap 1.18a chave do poço *Lc 8.31;Ap 9.2,11do abismo. 2 Ele abriu o poço do abismo; do poço subiu um *cp.Gn 19.28;Êx 19.18fumo como o fumo duma grande fornalha, *cp.Jl 2.2,10e o sol e o ar escureceram-se com o fumo do poço. 3 Do fumo saíram *Ap 9.7; cp.Êx 10.12-15gafanhotos para a terra; e foi-lhes dado poder, como têm poder os *Ap 9.5,10; cp.2Cr 10.11,14;Ez 2.6escorpiões da terra. 4 Foi-lhes ordenado que não *Ap 6.6fizessem dano *Ap 8.7à erva da terra, nem a qualquer coisa verde, nem a árvore alguma, mas somente àqueles homens que não têm *Ap 7.2-3o selo de Deus nas suas testas. 5 Foi-lhes permitido não que os matassem, mas somente que os atormentassem *Ap 9.10cinco meses; e o seu tormento era como o tormento do *Ap 9.3escorpião, quando fere ao homem. 6 Naqueles dias, *Jó 3.21;7.15;Jr 8.3; cp.Ap 6.16os homens procurarão a morte e não a acharão; desejarão morrer, mas a morte foge deles. 7 *Jl 2.4As figuras dos gafanhotos eram semelhantes a cavalos preparados para a guerra; sobre as suas cabeças tinham umas como coroas semelhantes ao ouro, e os seus rostos eram como rostos de homens; 8 tinham os cabelos como os cabelos das mulheres, e os seus *Jl 1.6dentes eram como os dentes dos leões; 9 e tinham couraças como couraças de ferro, *Jl 2.5; cp.Jr 47.3e o estrondo das suas asas era como o estrondo de carros de muitos cavalos que correm ao combate. 10 Têm caudas semelhantes às dos *Ap 9.3,5; cp.2Cr 10.11,14;Ez 2.6escorpiões e aguilhões; e, nas suas *Ap 9.19caudas, acha-se o seu poder de fazer dano aos homens *Ap 9.5cinco meses. 11 Eles têm sobre si, como rei, o anjo do *Lc 8.31;Ap 9.1-2abismo, chamado, em *Ap 16.16;Jo 5.2hebraico, *Jó 26.6;28.22;31.12;Sl 88.11;Pv 15.11, etc.Abadom e, em grego, Apoliom.

A sexta trombeta

13 O sexto anjo tocou a trombeta. Ouvi uma voz que saía dos quatro *Êx 30.2-3,10chifres do *Ap 8.3altar de ouro que está diante de Deus, 14 a qual dizia ao sexto anjo que tinha a trombeta: *cp.Ap 7.1Solta os quatro anjos que estão atados junto ao *Gn 15.18;Dt 1.7;Js 1.4;Ap 16.12grande rio Eufrates. 15 Foram *cp.Ap 20.7soltos os quatros anjos que haviam sido preparados para a hora, dia, mês e ano, a fim de matarem *Ap 9.18;Ap 8.7a terça parte dos homens. 16 O número das tropas de cavalaria era de duas miríades de *Ap 5.11miríades; *Ap 7.4eu ouvi o número deles. 17 Vi, assim, na *cp.Dn 8.2;9.21visão os cavalos e os que estavam montados sobre eles, os quais tinham couraças de fogo, de jacinto e de *Ap 9.18;Ap 14.10;19.20;20.10;21.8enxofre; as cabeças dos cavalos eram como as cabeças de leões, *Ap 11.5e das suas bocas saíam fogo, fumo e enxofre. 18 Por estas três pragas: *Ap 9.17pelo fogo, pelo fumo e pelo enxofre, que saíam das suas bocas, foi morta a terça parte dos homens. 19 Pois o poder dos cavalos está nas suas bocas, e nas suas caudas; porque as suas caudas são semelhantes a serpentes e têm cabeças; e com elas causam dano. 20 Os outros homens, que não foram mortos por essas pragas, *Ap 2.21não se arrependeram das obras *Dt 4.28;Jr 1.16;Mq 5.13;At 7.41das suas mãos, para que não *1Co 10.20adorassem aos demônios *Sl 115.4-7;135.15-17;Dn 5.23e aos ídolos de ouro, de prata, de cobre, de pedra e de pau, que nem podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar; 21 e não se arrependeram dos seus homicídios, nem das suas *Is 47.9,12;Ap 18.23feitiçarias, nem da sua *cp.Ap 17.2,5fornicação, nem dos seus furtos.

1 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. 2 He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a*9:2 TR adds "great" burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke came locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don’t have God’s seal on their foreheads. 5 They were given power, not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a person. 6 In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

7 The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people’s faces. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like those of lions. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of many chariots and horses rushing to war. 10 They have tails like those of scorpions, with stingers. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months. 11 They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is "Abaddon",*9:11 "Abaddon" is a Hebrew word that means "ruin", "destruction", or "the place of destruction" but in Greek, he has the name "Apollyon".*9:11 "Apollyon" means "Destroyer".

12 The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.

13 The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!"

15 The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of mankind. 16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million.*9:16 literally, "ten thousands of ten thousands" I heard the number of them. 17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the horses’ heads resembled lions’ heads. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur. 18 By these three plagues, one third of mankind was killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads; and with them they harm.

20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn’t worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can’t see, hear, or walk. 21 They didn’t repent of their murders, their sorceries,*9:21 The word for "sorceries" (pharmakeia) also implies the use of potions, poisons, and drugs their sexual immorality, or their thefts.
