Oseias 12

A controvérsia do Senhor com Judá e com Israel

1 Efraim apascenta *Jr 22.22o vento e caça *Gn 41.6;Ez 17.10o vento oriental; continuamente, *Os 7.1,13multiplica mentiras e desolação; fazem aliança com *Os 5.13;7.11;8.9a Assíria, e o azeite é levado para *2Rs 17.4o Egito. 2 Jeová tem uma *Os 4.1controvérsia com Judá e visitará sobre Jacó *Os 4.9;7.11os seus caminhos; conforme os seus feitos, lhe recompensará. 3 No ventre, *Gn 25.26pegou do calcanhar de seu irmão e, na idade varonil, *Gn 32.28perseverou com Deus; 4 sim, perseverou com o anjo, e prevaleceu. Chorou *Gn 32.26e fez-lhe súplicas. Achou-o *Gn 28.13-15;35.10-15em Betel, e ali falou ele conosco, 5 a saber, Jeová, Deus dos Exércitos; Jeová é o *Êx 3.15seu memorial. 6 Tu, pois, *Os 6.1-3;10.12converte-te ao teu Deus; guarda a *Os 6.6misericórdia e o juízo e *Mq 7.7espera sem cessar no teu Deus.

7 Canaã! Na sua mão, está a *Pv 11.1;Am 8.5;Mq 6.11balança enganosa; ama a opressão. 8 Efraim disse: Certamente, estou *Os 13.6;Sl 62.10enriquecido, tenho adquirido para mim riquezas; em todos os meus trabalhos, não acharão em mim *Os 4.8;14.1iniquidade alguma que seja pecado. 9 Eu, porém, sou Jeová, teu Deus, desde a terra do *Os 11.1;13.4Egito; eu ainda te farei *Lv 23.42habitar de novo em tendas, como nos dias da festa solene. 10 Também falei aos *Jr 7.25profetas, e multipliquei as visões, e, pelo ministério dos profetas, usei de *Ez 17.2;20.49parábolas. 11 Acaso, *Os 6.8é Gileade iniquidade? São totalmente vaidade. Em *Os 4.15;9.15Gilgal, sacrificam bois; os seus *Os 8.11;10.1-2altares se acham como montões de pedra nos sulcos do campo. 12 *Gn 28.5Jacó fugiu para o campo de Arã, *Gn 29.20e Israel serviu para ter mulher e, para ter mulher, guardou ovelhas. 13 Por um *Êx 14.19-22;Is 63.11-14profeta, Jeová fez a Israel sair do Egito, e, por um profeta, foi Israel preservado. 14 *2Rs 17.7-18Efraim, mui amargamente, provocou-me à ira; portanto, sobre ele será deixado o seu *Ez 18.10-13sangue, e o seu Senhor lhe tornará o seu *Dn 11.18;Mq 6.16opróbrio.

1 Ephraim feeds on wind,

and chases the east wind.

He continually multiplies lies and desolation.

They make a covenant with Assyria,

and oil is carried into Egypt.

2 Yahweh also has a controversy with Judah,

and will punish Jacob according to his ways;

according to his deeds he will repay him.

3 In the womb he took his brother by the heel,

and in his manhood he contended with God.

4 Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed;

he wept, and made supplication to him.

He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—

5 even Yahweh, the God of Armies.

Yahweh is his name of renown!

6 Therefore turn to your God.

Keep kindness and justice,

and wait continually for your God.

7 A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand.

He loves to defraud.

8 Ephraim said, "Surely I have become rich.

I have found myself wealth.

In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin."

9 "But I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt.

I will yet again make you dwell in tents,

as in the days of the solemn feast.

10 I have also spoken to the prophets,

and I have multiplied visions;

and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.

11 If Gilead is wicked,

surely they are worthless.

In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls.

Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.

12 Jacob fled into the country of Aram.

Israel served to get a wife.

For a wife he tended flocks and herds.

13 By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt,

and by a prophet he was preserved.

14 Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger.

Therefore his blood will be left on him,

and his Lord*12:14 The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai." will repay his contempt.
