A alma sedenta satisfeita em Deus

Salmo de Davi, quando estava no deserto de Judá

1 Ó Deus, *Sl 118.28tu és o meu Deus; ansiosamente te buscarei.

A minha alma *Sl 42.2;84.2;Mt 5.6tem sede de ti, a minha alma anseia por ti

numa terra *Sl 143.6árida e cansada, onde não há água.

2 Assim, no santuário te *Sl 27.4contemplarei,

para ver a tua força e a tua glória.

3 Porquanto *Sl 69.16tua benignidade é melhor do que a vida,

os meus lábios te louvarão.

4 Assim, te bendirei *Sl 104.33;146.2enquanto viver.

Em teu nome, *Sl 28.2;143.6levantarei as minhas mãos.

5 Como de banha e gordura, *Sl 36.8será saciada a minha alma,

e, com lábios de júbilo, *Sl 71.23te louvará a minha boca.

6 Quando, *Sl 4.4no meu leito, de ti me recordo,

*Sl 16.7;42.8;119.55durante as vigílias da noite, em ti medito,

7 *Sl 27.9porque tens sido o meu auxílio,

*Sl 17.8, ref.e, à sombra das tuas asas, me regozijarei.

9 Mas aqueles que *Sl 40.14buscam a minha vida para a destruírem

descerão às *Sl 55.15profundezas da terra;

10 *Jr 18.21;Ez 35.5serão entregues ao poder da espada;

hão de ser o *Lm 5.18quinhão dos chacais.

11 *Sl 21.1O rei, porém, se regozijará em Deus.

A Psalm by David, when he was in the desert of Judah.

1 God, you are my God.

I will earnestly seek you.

My soul thirsts for you.

My flesh longs for you,

in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.

2 So I have seen you in the sanctuary,

watching your power and your glory.

3 Because your loving kindness is better than life,

my lips shall praise you.

4 So I will bless you while I live.

I will lift up my hands in your name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food.

My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

6 when I remember you on my bed,

and think about you in the night watches.

7 For you have been my help.

I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul stays close to you.

Your right hand holds me up.

9 But those who seek my soul to destroy it

shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

10 They shall be given over to the power of the sword.

They shall be jackal food.

11 But the king shall rejoice in God.

Everyone who swears by him will praise him,

for the mouth of those who speak lies shall be silenced.
