1 E agora, eis o que diz o Senhor, aquele que te criou, Jacó, e te formou, Israel: Nada temas, pois eu te resgato, eu te chamo pelo nome, és meu.2 Se tiveres de atravessar a água, estarei contigo. E os rios não te submergirão; se caminhares pelo fogo, não te queimarás, e a chama não te consumirá.3 Pois eu sou o Senhor, teu Deus, o Santo de Israel, teu salvador. Dou o Egito por teu resgate, a Etiópia e Sabá em compensação.4 Porque és precioso a meus olhos, porque eu te aprecio e te amo, permuto reinos por ti, entrego nações em troca de ti.5 Fica, tranqüilo, pois estou contigo, do oriente trarei tua raça, e do ocidente eu te reunirei.6 Devolve-os!, direi ao setentrião e ao meio-dia: Não os retenhas! Traze meus filhos das longínquas paragens, e minhas filhas dos confins da terra;7 todos aqueles que trazem meu nome, e que criei para minha glória.8 Fazei comparecer o povo cego apesar de ter olhos, e os surdos que têm ouvidos!9 Que todas as nações se congreguem e que os povos se reúnam! Quem dentre eles soube predizer o que se passa, e foi o primeiro que no-lo fez saber? Que apresentem suas testemunhas para justificar suas pretensões, que sejam ouvidas para que se possa dizer: É exato.10 Vós sois minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor, e meus servos que eu escolhi, a fim de que se reconheça e que me acreditem e que se compreenda que sou eu. Nenhum deus foi formado antes de mim, e não haverá outros depois de mim.11 Fui eu, sou eu o Senhor, não há outro salvador a não ser eu.12 Sou eu quem predisse e salvei, e não um deus estranho entre vós. Vós sois minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor, eu sou Deus13 desde toda a eternidade. Ninguém poderia escapar de minha mão; quando executo, quem poderia destruir minha obra?14 Eis o que diz o Senhor, vosso Redentor, o Santo de Israel: Por vossa causa, envio a Babilônia, a fim de fazer cair os ferrolhos dos cárceres, e os caldeus lamentar-se-ão em altos brados.15 Eu sou o Senhor, vosso Santo, o criador de Israel, vosso rei.16 Eis o que diz o Senhor que abriu uma passagem através do mar, um caminho em meio às ondas,17 que pôs em campo carros e cavalos, a tropa de soldados e chefes: eles caíram então para nunca mais se levantar; Extinguiram-se como um pavio de vela.18 Não vos lembreis mais dos acontecimentos de outrora, não recordeis mais as coisas antigas,19 porque eis que vou fazer obra nova, a qual já surge: não a vedes? Vou abrir uma via pelo deserto, e fazer correr arroios pela estepe.20 Dar-me-ão glória os animais selvagens, os chacais e as avestruzes, pois terei feito jorrar água no deserto, e correr arroios na estepe, para saciar a sede de meu povo, meu eleito;21 o povo, que formei para mim, contará meus feitos.22 No entanto, não foste tu que me chamaste, Jacó, tu não te fatigaste por mim, Israel.23 Não me ofereceste carneiros em holocausto, nem me honraste com sacrifícios; não cobrei de ti um pesado imposto em oblações, nem te sobrecarreguei exigindo incenso.24 Não me compraste, a preço alto, cana perfumada, nem me fartaste com a gordura das vítimas. Mas me atormentaste com teus pecados, cansaste-me com tuas iniqüidades.25 Sempre sou eu quem deve apagar tuas faltas, e não mais me lembrar de teus pecados.26 Refresca tua memória e discutamos: apresenta tuas contas, para te justificar!27 Já teu primeiro pai pecou, teus representantes me ofenderam,28 teus príncipes profanaram meu santuário. Então entreguei Jacó ao anátema e Israel às injúrias.

1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Do not fear, for I have redeemed thee, I have named thee; Thou [art] mine.2 When thou dost pass through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou dost walk through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.3 For I [am] the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Keeper; I gave Egypt [for] thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.4 Because thou wast precious in my sight, thou wast worthy of honour, and I have loved thee.5 Do not fear; for I [am] with thee: I will bring thy generation from the east and gather thee from the west;6 I will say to the north [wind], Give up, and to the south, Do not keep back; bring my sons from far and my daughters from the ends of the earth7 [even] every one that is called by my name, for I have created them for my glory; I have formed them; [yea], I have made them.8 Bring forth the people that is blind that have eyes and the deaf that have ears.9 Let all the Gentiles be gathered together as one, and let the peoples be joined; who among them can declare this and show us former things? Let them bring forth their witnesses that they may be justified or let them hear and say, [It is] truth.10 Ye [are] my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen that ye may know and believe me and understand that I [am] he; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.11 I, [even] I, [am] the LORD; and beside me [there is] no saviour.12 I have declared and have saved, and I have showed when [there was] no strange [god] among you; therefore ye [are] my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I [am] God.13 Even before the day [was] I existed; and [there is] no one that can deliver out of my hand; [if] I work, who shall hinder it?14 Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon and caused fugitives to descend unto all of them and [the] clamour of Chaldeans in the ships.15 I [am] the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.16 Thus saith the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters;17 [when] he brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall fall together, and never rise; they are extinct; they are quenched as wick.18 Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.19 Behold, I will do a new thing; it shall come to light quickly; shall ye not know it? I will again make a way in the wilderness [and] rivers in the desert.20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls because I give waters in the wilderness [and] rivers in the desert to give drink to my people, my chosen.21 This people I have formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.23 Thou hast not brought me the animals of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices, but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins; thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.25 I, [even] I, [am] he that uproots thy rebellions for mine own sake and will not remember thy sins.26 Cause me to remember; let us enter into judgment together; declare, thou, that it may be put to thy account.27 Thy first father sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary and have set up Jacob as anathema, and Israel as a reproach.:
