1 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:2 filho do homem, volta a tua face para os amonitas e profetiza contra eles.3 Dize-lhes: escutai a palavra do Senhor Javé: Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Porque disseste: Ah! Ah! quando da profanação do meu santuário, quando da devastação da terra de Israel,e da deportação da casa de Judá,4 por isso, vou entregar-te aos filhos do Oriente, que estabelecerão em tua morada os seus acampamentos e plantarão aí as suas tendas. Eles comerão teus frutos, beberão teu leite.5 Farei de Rabat um parque de camelos, e da terra dos amonitas um aprisco de ovelhas; assim sabereis que sou eu o Senhor.6 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Porque bateste palmas e bateste com o pé, e porque manifestaste riso e desdém pela terra de Israel,7 por isso, vou estender minha mão contra ti, entregar-te à pilhagem das nações, suprimir-te dentre os povos, expulsar-te de tua casa e aniquilar-te. Assim saberás que eu sou o Senhor.8 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Visto que Moab e Seir dizem: A casa de Judá é igual a todas as demais nações,9 eu vou, eu mesmo, abrir o flanco de Moab, arrebatando suas cidades, todas as cidades do seu território, o ornamento da terra: Bet-Jechimot, Baal-Meon e Quiriat-Aim.10 Eu o dou, assim como a terra dos amonitas, em possessão aos filhos do Oriente, a fim de que Amon não mais seja mencionado entre as nações.11 Assim exercerei meu juízo sobre Moab, e ficarão sabendo que eu sou o Senhor.12 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Já que Edom exerceu sua vingança contra a casa de Judá, e se tornou culpado, tomando vingança,13 por isso - oráculo do Senhor Javé - vou estender a mão contra Edom, exterminar dele animais e homens, e transformá-lo num deserto; em seguida, desde Temã até Dedã, tombarão sob o gládio.14 Exercerei minha vingança contra Edom pela mão de Israel, meu povo, que os tratará segundo o meu furor, e eles saberão o que vale minha vingança - oráculo do Senhor Javé.15 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Já que os filisteus exerceram vingança, usaram de cruéis represálias, com o coração cheio de desprezo, e em seu ódio inveterado procuraram destruir tudo,16 por isso - oráculo do Senhor Javé - estenderei a mão sobre eles, exterminarei os cretenses, e farei perecer o que resta do litoral;17 exercerei sobre eles uma vingança terrível, furiosos castigos; e, quando eu executar sobre eles a minha vingança, saberão que eu sou o Senhor.

1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,2 Son of man, set thy face against the sons of ‘Ammon, and prophesy against them;3 And say unto the sons of ‘Ammon, Hear ye the word of the Lord Eternal, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because thou hast said, Aha, concerning my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and concerning the land of Israel, when it was made desolate; and concerning the house of Judah, when they went into exile:4 Therefore, behold, I will give thee up to the children of the east for a possession, and they shall set up their towers in thee, and place in thee their dwellings; they shall indeed eat thy fruit, and they shall surely drink thy milk.5 And I will change Rabbah into a pasture for camels, and the land of the sons of ‘Ammon into a resting–place for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.6 For thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Whereas thou didst clap thy hands, and stamp with thy feet, and rejoice with all thy derision in the soul over the land of Israel:7 Therefore, behold, will I stretch out my hand over thee, and will give thee up for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries; I will destroy thee, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.8 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because Moab and Se’ir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations:9 Therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth–ha–yeshimoth, Ba’al–me’on, and Kiryathayim,10 Unto the children of the east coming against the sons of ‘Ammon, and I will give them in possession; in order that the sons of ‘Ammon may not be remembered among the nations.11 And on Moab will I execute judgments: and they shall know that I am the Lord.12 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because the Edomites have acted revengefully against the house of Judah, and have greatly offended, and have taken vengeance on them:13 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, I will also stretch out my hand against Edom, and cut off from it man and beast; and I will make it a ruined land from Theman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.14 And I will display my vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my fury: and they shall feel my vengeance, saith the Lord Eternal.15 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because the Philistines have acted in revenge, and have taken vengeance with derision in their soul, to destroy out of ancient enmity:16 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethim, and destroy the remnant of the dwellers of the sea–coast.17 And I will execute on them great vengeances with furious chastisements: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I display my vengeance on them.
