1 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:2 filho do homem, dize ao príncipe de Tiro: Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Teu coração elevou-se; tu disseste: sou um deus assentado sobre um trono divino no coração do mar. Quando não passas de um homem e não és um deus, tu te julgas em teu coração igual a Deus.3 Sem dúvida, eis-te mais sábio que Daniel, nenhum mistério te é obscuro.4 É por tua sutil inteligência que adquiriste bens, e cumulaste ouro e prata em teus tesouros.5 Por tua grande habilidade comercial tens aumentado as tuas riquezas, e teu coração se ensoberbeceu.6 Por causa disso, eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: já que em teu coração te julgas igual a Deus,7 farei vir contra ti os estrangeiros, os mais brutais de todos os povos, que tirarão a espada contra os esplendores de tua sabedoria, e empanarão o teu brilho.8 Far-te-ão descer à fossa, morrerás como um decapitado no coração do mar.9 Dirás ainda diante do algoz: sou um deus, quando tu não és senão um homem {e não um deus} nas mãos do teu assassino?10 Morrerás da morte de um incircunciso, sob os golpes do estrangeiro, sou eu que o digo - oráculo do Senhor Javé.11 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:12 filho do homem, entoa um cântico fúnebre sobre o rei de Tiro, e dize-lhe: Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Eras um selo de perfeição, cheio de sabedoria, de uma beleza acabada.13 Estavas no Éden, jardim de Deus, estavas coberto de gemas diversas: sardônica, topázio e diamante, crisólito, ônix e jaspe, safira, carbúnculo e esmeralda; trabalhados em ouro. Tamborins e flautas, estavam a teu serviço, prontos desde o dia em que foste criado.14 Eras um querubim protetor colocado sobre a montanha santa de Deus; passeavas entre as pedras de fogo.15 Foste irrepreensível em teu proceder desde o dia em que foste criado, até que a iniqüidade apareceu em ti.16 No desenvolvimento do teu comércio, encheram-se as tuas entranhas de violência e pecado; por isso eu te bani da montanha de Deus, e te fiz perecer, ó querubim protetor, em meio às pedras de fogo.17 Teu coração se inflou de orgulho devido à tua beleza, arruinaste a tua sabedoria, por causa do teu esplendor; precipitei-te em terra, e dei com isso um espetáculo aos reis.18 À força de iniqüidade e de desonestidade no teu comércio, profanaste os teus santuários; assim, de ti fiz jorrar o fogo que te devorou e te reduzi a cinza sobre a terra aos olhos dos espectadores.19 Todos aqueles que te conheciam entre os povos ficaram estupefatos com o teu destino; acabaste sendo um objeto de espanto; foste banido para sempre!20 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:21 filho do homem, volta-te para Sidon e profetiza contra ela.22 Dirás: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: é contra ti que venho, Sidon; vou fazer brilhar a minha glória em teu meio. Quando contra ti exercer meus julgamentos e em ti manifestar minha santidade, então se saberá que sou eu o Senhor.23 Despacharei contra ela a peste, inundarei de sangue as suas ruas, onde sucumbirão feridos, golpeados por uma espada, que surgirá de toda parte; assim, saberão que sou eu o Senhor.24 Desde então, não haverá mais, para a casa de Israel, nem silvas ofensivas nem espinhos dolorosos da parte de nenhum dos seus vizinhos que a desprezam; assim se saberá que sou eu o Senhor.25 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: Quando eu reunir os israelitas dentre os povos, onde estiverem dispersados, manifestarei com isso a minha santidade aos olhos das nações; habitarão a terra que tenho doado ao meu servo Jacó.26 Habitarão em segurança; construirão casas e plantarão vinhas; sim, eles habitarão lá com segurança. Quando eu houver exercido meus julgamentos contra todos os vizinhos que os desprezam, saber-se-á que sou eu, o Senhor, que sou seu Deus!

1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Whereas thy heart was lifted up, and thou saidst, A god am I, on the seat of the gods do I dwell, in the heart of the seas; yet thou art but a man, and not God, while thou esteemest thy mind equal to the mind of God;3 Behold, thou wast wiser than Daniel; no secret was obscure to thee;4 With thy wisdom and with thy understanding hadst thou gotten thee riches, and hadst gotten gold and silver into thy treasuries;5 By the abundance of thy wisdom in thy traffic hadst thou increased thy riches; and thy heart was lifted up because of thy riches:6 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because thou hast esteemed thy mind equal to the mind of God,7 Therefore, behold, will I bring over thee strangers, the fiercest • of nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall profane thy elegance.8 Down to the grave will they cast thee, and thou shalt die the deaths of the slain in the heart of the seas.9 Wilt thou then say, I am God, before him that slayeth thee? when thou art but a man, and no God, in the hand of him that fatally wounded thee.10 The deaths of the uncircumcised shalt thou die by the hand of strangers; for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Eternal.11 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,12 Son of man, take up a lamentation concerning the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Thou wast complete in outline, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.13 In ‘Eden the garden of God didst thou abide; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the chrysolite, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold; thy tabrets and thy flutes of artificial workmanship were prepared in thee on the day thou wast created.14 Thou wast a cherub with outspread covering wings; and I had set thee upon the holy mountain of God as thou wast; in the midst of the stones of fire didst thou wander.15 Perfect wast thou in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till wickedness was found in thee.16 By the abundance of thy commerce thou wast filled to thy centre with violence, and thou didst sin: therefore I degraded thee out of the mountain of God; and I destroyed thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.17 Thy heart was lifted up through thy beauty, thou didst corrupt thy wisdom by reason of thy elegance: therefore I cast thee down to the ground, before kings did I set thee that they might gaze on thee.18 Through the abundance of thy iniquities, through the wickedness of thy commerce didst thou profane thy sanctuaries: therefore brought I forth fire from the midst of thee, this devoured thee, and I changed thee to ashes upon the earth before the eyes of all those that saw thee.19 All that know thee among the people are astonished concerning thee: thou art as though thou hadst not been, and thou shalt not be any more for ever.20 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,21 Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it,22 And thou shalt say, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon, and I will be honored in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I execute judgments on her, and will be sanctified on her.23 And I will send out against her pestilence, and blood– shedding into her streets; and the deadly wounded shall be felled in the midst of her by the sword that is against her from every side: and they shall know that I am the Lord.24 And there shall be no more unto the house of Israel a pricking brier, nor painful thorn from all that are round about them, that despoil them: and they shall know that I am the Lord Eternal.25 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, When I gather the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified on them before the eyes of the nations: then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.26 And they shall dwell thereupon in safety, and they shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell in safety; when I execute judgments on all those that despoiled them from round about them: and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.
