1 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:2 filho do homem, profetiza contra os pastores de Israel; dize-lhes, a esses pastores, este oráculo: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: ai dos pastores de Israel que só cuidam do seu próprio pasto. Não é seu rebanho que devem pastorear os pastores?3 Vós bebeis o leite, vestis-vos de lã, matais as reses mais gordas e sacrificais, tudo isso sem nutrir o rebanho.4 Vós não fortaleceis as ovelhas fracas; a doente, não a tratais; a ferida, não a curais; a transviada, não a reconduzis; a perdida, não a procurais; a todas tratais com violência e dureza.5 Assim, por falta de pastor, dispersaram-se minhas ovelhas, e em sua dispersão foram expostas a tornarem-se presa de todas as feras.6 Minhas ovelhas vagueiam em toda parte sobre a montanha e sobre as colinas, elas se acham espalhadas sobre toda a superfície da terra, sem que ninguém cuide delas ou se ponha a procurá-las.7 Pois bem, pastores, escutai a palavra do Senhor:8 por minha vida - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, já que por falta de pastor foram minhas ovelhas entregues à pilhagem, e serviram de pasto às feras, pois os meus pastores não têm o mínimo cuidado com elas, e que, em vez de pastoreá-las, só têm procurado se fartar eles próprios,9 por isso, escutai, pastores, o que diz o Senhor:10 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou castigar esses pastores, vou reclamar deles as minhas ovelhas, vou tirar deles a guarda do rebanho, de modo que não mais possam fartar a si mesmos; arrancarei minhas ovelhas da sua goela, de modo que não mais poderá devorá-las.11 Pois eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou tomar eu próprio o cuidado com minhas ovelhas, velarei sobre elas.12 Como o pastor se inquieta por causa de seu rebanho, quando se acha no meio de suas ovelhas tresmalhadas, assim me inquietarei por causa do meu; eu o reconduzirei de todos os lugares por onde tinha sido disperso num dia de nuvens e de trevas.13 Eu as recolherei dentre os povos e as reunirei de diversos países, para reconduzi-las ao seu próprio solo e fazê-las pastar nos montes de Israel, nos vales e nos lugares habitados da região.14 Eu as apascentarei em boas pastagens, elas serão levadas a gordos campos sobre as montanhas de Israel; elas repousarão sobre as verdes relvas, terão sobre os montes de Israel abundantes pastagens.15 Sou eu que apascentarei minhas ovelhas, sou eu que as farei repousar - oráculo do Senhor Javé.16 A ovelha perdida eu a procurarei; a desgarrada, eu a reconduzirei; a ferida, eu a curarei; a doente, eu a restabelecerei, e velarei sobre a que estiver gorda e vigorosa. Apascentá-las-ei todas com justiça.17 Quanto a vós, minhas ovelhas, eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou julgar entre ovelha e ovelha, vou julgar os carneiros e os bodes.18 Não vos bastava pastorear numa excelente pastagem, para que calqueis ainda aos pés o resto do prado? Não vos bastava beber as águas límpidas, para que calqueis ainda o resto com os pés?19 E minhas ovelhas devem comer o que pisastes e beber o que sujastes?20 Pois bem, eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou julgar entre ovelha gorda e magra.21 Porque tendes batido o flanco ou a espádua, e ferido com vossos cornos todas as ovelhas fracas, até lançá-las fora,22 eu irei em socorro de minhas ovelhas para poupá-las de serem atiradas à pilhagem; e julgarei entre ovelha e ovelha:23 Para pastoreá-las suscitarei um só pastor, meu servo Davi. Será ele quem as conduzirá à pastagem e lhes servirá de pastor.24 Eu, o Senhor, serei seu Deus, enquanto o meu servo Davi será um príncipe no meio delas. Sou eu, o Senhor, que o declaro.25 Eu concluirei com elas um tratado de paz; suprimirei as feras de sua terra, de sorte que possam habitar o deserto com segurança e dormir nos bosques.26 Farei deles e das imediações de minha colina uma bênção; farei cair chuva em tempo oportuno: serão chuvas de bênção.27 As árvores dos bosques darão seus frutos e a terra dará o seu produto. Viverão com segurança na terra. Quando eu tiver rompido as cadeias de seu jugo, e os houver livrado das mãos de seus tiranos, eles saberão que sou eu o Senhor.28 Não mais serão pilhados pelas nações nem devorados pelas feras; habitarão a terra com segurança, sem serem incomodados mais por ninguém.29 Farei crescer para eles uma vegetação luxuriante, que constituirá o seu orgulho. Não haverá mais fome devoradora na terra; não mais sofrerão os insultos das nações.30 Saberão que sou eu o Senhor, que sou o seu Deus, e que eles, os israelitas, são o meu povo - oráculo do Senhor Javé.31 E vós, minhas ovelhas, vós sois homens, o rebanho que apascento. E eu, eu sou o vosso Deus - oráculo do Senhor Javé.

1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,2 Son of man, prophesy concerning the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say unto them, unto the shepherds, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Woe to the shepherds of Israel who do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?3 The fat ye eat, and with the wool ye clothe yourselves, those that are well fed ye slaughter; but the flock ye feed not.4 The diseased have ye not strengthened, and the sick have ye not healed, and that which had a limb broken have ye not bound up, and the strayed have ye not brought back again, and what was lost have ye not sought for; but with force have ye ruled them and with rigor.5 And they were scattered for want of a shepherd; and they became food unto all the beasts of the field, and they were scattered.6 My sheep have to wander about on all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, over all the face of the land are my flock scattered, and there is none that inquireth and none that seeketh after them.7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord,8 As I live, saith the Lord Eternal, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became food unto every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, and my shepherds did not inquire for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and my flock they fed not:9 Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord,10 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will be against the shepherds, and I will require my flock from their hand, and I will stop them from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more: and I will deliver my flock out of their mouth, that they may not serve them for food.11 For thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I am here, and I will both inquire for my flocks, and search for them.12 As a shepherd searcheth for his flock on the day that he is among his flocks that are scattered: so will I search for my flocks; and I will deliver them out of all places whither they have been scattered on the day of clouds and tempestuous darkness.13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their own land; and I will feed them upon the mountains of Israel, in the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country.14 On a good pasture will I feed them, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall be their fold: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed on the mountains of Israel.15 I myself will feed my flock, and I myself will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord Eternal.16 That which was lost will I seek for, and that which was gone astray will I bring back again, and that which had a limb broken will I bind up, and the sick will I strengthen: but the fat and the strong will I destroy; I will feed them in justice.17 And as for you, O my flock, thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will judge between lamb and lamb, between the wethers and the he–goats.18 Is it too little for you that ye can feed on the good pasture, that ye must tread down the residue of your pastures with your feet? and that ye can drink clear waters, that ye must render muddy with your feet what is left?19 And as for my flock, what ye have trodden with your feet must they eat; and what ye have made muddy with your feet must they drink.20 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal unto them, Behold, I am here, and I will judge between the fat lamb and the lean lamb.21 Because ye thrust with side and with shoulder, and push with your horns all the diseased, till ye have scattered them abroad:22 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between lamb and lamb.23 And I will appoint over them one shepherd, and he shall feed them, namely, my servant David: he it is that shall feed them, and he it is that shall be unto them for a shepherd.24 And I the Lord––I will be unto them for a God, and my servant David shall be a prince in their midst: I the Lord have spoken it.25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and I will cause the wild beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell in the wilderness in safety, and sleep in the forests.26 And I will make them and the environs of my hill a blessing; and I will cause the rain to come down in its season; rains of blessing shall they be.27 And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield her products, and they shall be on their land in safety: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I break the bands of their yoke, and deliver them out of the hand of those that had made them labor for them.28 And they shall be no more a prey to the nations, and the beasts of the land shall not devour them; but they shall dwell in safety, with none to make them afraid.29 And I will raise up for them a plantation for a perpetual renown, and they shall be no more taken away by hunger in the land, neither bear the shameful reproach of the nations any more.30 Thus shall they experience that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord Eternal.31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord Eternal.
