1 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:2 filho do homem, volta os teus olhos contra Gog, na terra de Magog, príncipe soberano de Mosoc e de Tubal, e profere contra ele o seguinte oráculo:3 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: é contra ti que venho, Gog, príncipe soberano de Mosoc e de Tubal.4 Vou te fazer ir e vir. Vou armar tua goela de ganchos, vou preparar-te uma expedição com todo o teu exército, cavalos e cavaleiros, todos perfeitamente equipados, horda imensa, munida de escudos, de broquéis e de espadas.5 Ela terá por aliados a Pérsia, a Etiópia e a terra de Put, equipados de escudos e capacetes.6 Marcharão contigo Gomer e todas as suas tropas, o povo armado de Togorma, dos confins do norte, povos numerosos.7 Estai atentos, preparai-vos bem, tu e todas as hordas que se agrupam em derredor de ti. Fica à minha disposição.8 Ao fim de considerável lapso de tempo, receberás ordem de marcha. Com o correr dos anos, irás contra uma terra, cujos habitantes, subtraídos ao massacre, se acham reunidos de países diversos, nas montanhas de Israel, por tão longo tempo desertas, mas onde vive agora tranqüilamente a nação segregada do meio dos povos.9 Levantar-te-ás como uma tempestade, tu e a multidão das tropas de povos diversos que te acompanham, como uma nuvem de tempestade para cobrir a terra.10 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: naquele dia, projetos nascerão em teu coração, e conceberás desígnios perversos.11 Vou atacar, dirás tu, uma terra indefesa, gente pacífica, que vive tranqüilamente em cidades sem muralhas, sem portas, sem ferrolhos.12 Irás, pois, ali pilhar, para fazer despojo, para pôr a mão sobre essas ruínas agora repovoadas, sobre uma população recolhida dentre pagãos, que, residindo no umbigo da terra, se ocupa agora com a criação e o comércio.13 Sabá, Dedã, mercadores de Társis e todos os seus jovens leões te hão de dizer: é para pilhar que vens tu? É para fazer espólio que reuniste as tuas hordas, para levar prata e ouro, para tomar rebanhos e bens, para fazer imensa pilhagem?14 Eis por que, ó filho do homem, proferirás contra Gog o oráculo seguinte: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: não é acaso naquele dia, quando o meu povo de Israel habitar sua terra com toda a segurança, que tu te meterás em agitação?15 Virás de tua terra, dos confins do norte, seguido de teu poderoso exército, tua horda imensa de cavaleiros.16 Atacarás o meu povo de Israel como uma nuvem de tempestade que vem cobrir a terra. Isso acontecerá no decorrer dos tempos: eu te farei vir contra a minha terra, a fim de que as nações aprendam a conhecer-me, quando sob meus olhares, ó Gog, eu tiver manifestado a minha santidade pela maneira como eu te tratar.17 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: tu és aquele de quem falei outrora por intermédio dos meus servidores, os profetas de Israel, que, naquele tempo, durante anos, predisseram que eu te enviaria contra eles.18 Naquele dia futuro, o dia em que Gog penetrar no solo de Israel - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, o furor me subirá ao nariz.19 Na explosão de meu ciúme e na exasperação de minha raiva, eu o afirmo, naquele dia, eu o juro, haverá terrível abalo na terra de Israel.20 À minha vista, tremerão de pavor os peixes do mar e os pássaros do céu, os animais dos campos e os répteis que se movem pela terra, assim como todos os homens que vivem na crosta terrestre. As montanhas desmoronar-se-ão, os rochedos cairão e todas as muralhas serão derrubadas por terra.21 Chamarei contra Gog toda espécie de terríveis flagelos - oráculo do Senhor Javé. Cada qual voltará a espada contra seu companheiro.22 Farei sua condenação com a peste mortífera, farei chover sobre ele, suas tropas e sobre as hordas que o acompanham um aguaceiro, saraiva, fogo e enxofre.23 É assim que manifestarei a minha glória e a minha santidade, revelando-me aos olhos de inúmeras nações, a fim de que saibam que eu sou o Senhor.

1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,2 Son of man, direct thy face against Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Thubal, and prophesy against him,3 And say, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will be against thee, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Thubal;4 And I will derange thee, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thy army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in elegant attire, a great assemblage with bucklers and shields, all of them grasping swords.5 Persia, Cush, and Put shall be with them; all of them with shield and helmet;6 Gomer and all of its armies; the house of Thogarmah out of the farthest north, and all its armies; many people shall be with thee.7 Be thou ready, and prepare thyself, thou, and all thy assemblages that are assembled about thee, and be thou a guard unto them.8 After many days shalt thou be ordered forward; in the end of years shalt thou come into the land that is recovering from the sword, and is gathered together out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been ruined for a very long time: to a people that are brought forth out of the nations, and that now dwell in safety, all of them.9 Thou wilt ascend and come like a tempest, like a cloud to cover the earth wilt thou be, thou, and all thy armies, and the many people with thee.10 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, It will also come to pass, at the same time, that things will come into thy mind, and thou wilt entertain an evil device;11 And thou wilt say, I will go up over the land of open towns; I will come against those that are careless, that dwell in safety, all of whom dwell without walls, and have neither bars nor gates,12 To snatch up the spoil, and to take away the prey; to turn thy hand against the ruined places now inhabited, and against the people that are gathered out of the nations, that have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the highest part of the land.13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the traders of Tharshish, with all her young lions, will say unto thee, Art thou come to plunder the spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to carry off the prey? to bear away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to plunder a great spoil?14 Therefore, prophesy, son of man, and say unto Gog, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, on the day when my people of Israel dwelleth in safety, shalt thou know my power.15 And thou wilt come from thy place out of the farthest ends of the north, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great assemblage, and a mighty army;16 And thou wilt come up against my people of Israel, like a cloud to cover the land; in the latter days will this be, and I will bring thee over my land, in order that the nations may know me, when I am sanctified on thee, before their eyes, O Gog.17 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Art thou not he of whom I have spoken in ancient days through means of my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days many years, that I would bring thee against them?18 And it shall come to pass at the same time, on the day of Gog’s coming over the land of Israel, saith the Lord Eternal, that my fury shall be kindled in my nose.19 And in my zealousness, in the fire of my wrath, have I spoken, Surely on that day there shall be a great earthquake in the country of Israel;20 And there shall quake at my presence the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.21 And I will call against him throughout all my mountains for the sword, saith the Lord Eternal: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.22 And I will hold judgment over him with pestilence and with blood–shedding; and an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and sulfur will I let rain over him and his armies, and over the many people that are with him.23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and make myself known before the eyes of many nations: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
