1 For, behold,*3:1 "Behold", from "הִנֵּה", means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection. the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support,

the whole supply of bread,

and the whole supply of water;

2 the mighty man,

the man of war,

the judge,

the prophet,

the diviner,

the elder,

3 the captain of fifty,

the honorable man,

the counselor,

the skilled craftsman,

and the clever enchanter.

4 I will give boys to be their princes,

and children shall rule over them.

5 The people will be oppressed,

everyone by another,

and everyone by his neighbor.

The child will behave himself proudly against the old man,

and the wicked against the honorable.

6 Indeed a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying,

"You have clothing, you be our ruler,

and let this ruin be under your hand."

7 In that day he will cry out, saying, "I will not be a healer;

for in my house is neither bread nor clothing.

You shall not make me ruler of the people."

8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen;

because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh,

to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9 The look of their faces testify against them.

They parade their sin like Sodom.

They don’t hide it.

Woe to their soul!

For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

10 Tell the righteous that it will be well with them,

for they will eat the fruit of their deeds.

11 Woe to the wicked!

Disaster is upon them,

for the deeds of their hands will be paid back to them.

12 As for my people, children are their oppressors,

and women rule over them.

My people, those who lead you cause you to err,

and destroy the way of your paths.

13 Yahweh stands up to contend,

and stands to judge the peoples.

14 Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people

and their leaders:

"It is you who have eaten up the vineyard.

The plunder of the poor is in your houses.

15 What do you mean that you crush my people,

and grind the face of the poor?" says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

16 Moreover Yahweh said, "Because the daughters of Zion are arrogant,

and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes,

walking daintily as they go,

jingling ornaments on their feet;

17 therefore the Lord brings sores on the crown of the head of the women of Zion,

and Yahweh will make their scalps bald."

18 In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands, the crescent necklaces, 19 the earrings, the bracelets, the veils, 20 the headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume containers, the charms, 21 the signet rings, the nose rings, 22 the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the purses, 23 the hand mirrors, the fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.

24 It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness;

instead of a belt, a rope;

instead of well set hair, baldness;

instead of a robe, a wearing of sackcloth;

and branding instead of beauty.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword,

and your mighty in the war.

26 Her gates shall lament and mourn.

She shall be desolate and sit on the ground.

1 Domnul Dumnezeul oștirilor va*Ier. 37:21;38:9. lua din Ierusalim și din Iuda orice sprijin*Lev. 26:26. și orice mijloc de trai, orice izvor de pâine și orice izvor de apă, 2 pe viteaz*2 Împ. 24:4. și pe omul de război, pe judecător și pe proroc, pe ghicitor și pe bătrân, 3 pe căpetenia peste cincizeci și pe dregător, pe sfetnic, pe meșteșugarul ales și pe vrăjitorul iscusit. 4 „Le voi da băieți*Ecl. 10:16. drept căpetenii", zice Domnul, „și niște copii vor stăpâni peste ei." 5 Oamenii se vor asupri unii pe alții, unul va apăsa pe celălalt, fiecare pe aproapele lui, tânărul va lovi pe cel bătrân și omul de nimic, pe cel pus în cinste. 6 Vor merge până acolo încât unul va apuca pe fratele său în casa părintească și-i va zice: „Tu ai o haină, fii căpetenia noastră! Ia dărâmăturile acestea sub mâna ta!" 7 Dar, în aceeași zi, el va răspunde: „Nu pot să fiu doctor, căci în casa mea nu este nici pâine, nici haină: nu mă puneți căpetenie peste popor." 8 Se clatină Ierusalimul*Mica 3:12., se prăbușește Iuda, pentru că vorbele și faptele lor sunt îndreptate împotriva Domnului, înfruntând privirile Lui mărețe. 9 Înfățișarea feței lor mărturisește împotriva lor și, ca sodomiții*Gen. 13:13;18:20,21;19:5., își dau pe față nelegiuirea, fără s-o ascundă. Vai de sufletul lor, căci își pregătesc rele! 10 Bine*Ecl. 8:12. de cel neprihănit! Lui îi va merge bine, căci*Ps. 128:2. se va bucura de rodul faptelor lui. 11 Vai de cel rău! Lui îi va merge rău*Ps. 11:6.Ecl. 8:13., căci va culege rodul faptelor lui. 12 Poporul meu este asuprit de niște copii*Vers. 4. și-l stăpânesc niște femei! Poporul meu, cârmuitorii*Cap. 9:16. tăi te duc în rătăcire, și pustiesc calea pe care umbli! 13 Domnul Se înfățișează la judecată*Mica 6:2., stă în picioare ca să judece popoarele. 14 Domnul intră la judecată cu bătrânii poporului Său și cu mai-marii lui: „Voi ați mâncat via*Cap. 5:7.Mat. 21:33.! Prada luată de la sărac este în casele voastre! 15 Cu ce drept călcați*Cap. 58:4.Mica 3:2,3. voi în picioare pe poporul Meu și apăsați pe săraci?", zice Domnul Dumnezeul oștirilor. 16 Domnul zice: „Pentru că fiicele Sionului sunt mândre și umblă cu gâtul întins și cu priviri pofticioase, pentru că pășesc mărunțel și zornăiesc cu verigile de la picior, 17 Domnul va pleșuvi*Deut. 28:27. creștetul capului fiicelor Sionului, Domnul le va descoperi*Cap. 47:2,3.Ier. 13:22.Zah. 3:5. rușinea." 18 În ziua aceea, Domnul va scoate verigile care le slujesc ca podoabă la picioare și sorișorii și lunișoarele*Jud. 8:21., 19 cerceii, brățările și maramele, 20 legăturile de pe cap, lănțișoarele de la picioare și brâiele, cutiile cu mirosuri și băierile descântate, 21 inelele și verigile de la nas, 22 hainele de sărbătoare și cămășile cele largi, mantiile și pungile, 23 oglinzile și cămășile subțiri, turbanele și maramele ușoare. 24 Și atunci, în loc de miros plăcut, va fi putoare; în loc de brâu, o funie; în loc de păr încrețit, un cap pleșuv*Cap. 22:12.Mica 1:16.; în loc de mantie largă, un sac strâmt; un semn de înfierare, în loc de frumusețe. 25 Bărbații tăi vor cădea uciși de sabie și vitejii tăi, în luptă. 26 Porțile*Ier. 14:2.Plâng. 1:4;2:10. fiicei Sionului vor geme și se vor jeli și ea va ședea despuiată pe pământ.
