1 Palavra que viu Isaías, filho de Amós, a respeito de Judá e de Jerusalém.2 E acontecerá nos últimos dias que se firmará o monte da casa do Senhor no cume dos montes, e se elevará por cima dos outeiros; e concorrerão a ele todas as nações.3 E irão muitos povos, e dirão: Vinde, subamos ao monte do Senhor, à casa do Deus de Jacó, para que nos ensine os seus caminhos, e andemos nas suas veredas; porque de Sião sairá a lei, e de Jerusalém a palavra do Senhor.4 E ele julgará entre as nações, e repreenderá a muitos povos; e estes converterão as suas espadas em enxadões e as suas lanças em foices; uma nação não levantará espada contra outra nação, nem aprenderão mais a guerrear.5 Vinde, ó casa de Jacó, e andemos na luz do Senhor.6 Mas tu desamparaste o teu povo, a casa de Jacó, porque se encheram dos costumes do oriente e são agoureiros como os filisteus; e associam-se com os filhos dos estrangeiros,7 E a sua terra está cheia de prata e ouro, e não têm fim os seus tesouros; também a sua terra está cheia de cavalos, e os seus carros não têm fim.8 Também a sua terra está cheia de ídolos; inclinam-se perante a obra das suas mãos, diante daquilo que fabricaram os seus dedos.9 E o povo se abate, e os nobres se humilham; portanto não lhes perdoarás.10 Entra nas rochas, e esconde-te no pó, do terror do Senhor e da glória da sua majestade.11 Os olhos altivos dos homens serão abatidos, e a sua altivez será humilhada; e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.12 Porque o dia do Senhor dos Exércitos será contra todo o soberbo e altivo, e contra todo o que se exalta, para que seja abatido;13 E contra todos os cedros do Líbano, altos e sublimes; e contra todos os carvalhos de Basã;14 E contra todos os montes altos, e contra todos os outeiros elevados;15 E contra toda a torre alta, e contra todo o muro fortificado;16 E contra todos os navios de Társis, e contra todas as pinturas desejáveis.17 E a arrogância do homem será humilhada, e a sua altivez se abaterá, e só o Senhor será exaltado naquele dia.18 E todos os ídolos desaparecerão totalmente.19 Então os homens entrarão nas cavernas das rochas, e nas covas da terra, do terror do Senhor, e da glória da sua majestade, quando ele se levantar para assombrar a terra.20 Naquele dia o homem lançará às toupeiras e aos morcegos os seus ídolos de prata, e os seus ídolos de ouro, que fizeram para diante deles se prostrarem.21 E entrarão nas fendas das rochas, e nas cavernas das penhas, por causa do terror do Senhor, e da glória da sua majestade, quando ele se levantar para abalar terrivelmente a terra.22 Deixai-vos do homem cujo fôlego está nas suas narinas; pois em que se deve ele estimar?

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz foresaw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be firmly established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and unto it shall flow all the nations.3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us of his ways, and we may walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem.4 And he will judge among the nations, and decide for many people; and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning–knives: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, and they shall not learn any more war.5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.6 For thou hast abandoned thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of witchcraft more than the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and with the children of strangers they unite themselves.7 And full became their land of silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; and full became their land of horses, and there is no end to their chariots;8 And full became their land of idols; to the work of their own hands they bow themselves, to what their own fingers have made.9 And so is bent down the son of earth, and humbled the man; and thou wilt not forgive them.10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, because of the dread of the Lord, and because of the glory of his majesty.11 The looks of human pride shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bent down: and exalted shall be the Lord alone on that day.12 For there is a day of judgment unto the Lord of hosts over every proud and lofty one; and over every exalted one, that he be brought low;13 And over all the cedars of the Lebanon, the high and exalted, and over all the oaks of Bashan;14 And over all the high mountains, and over all the exalted hills;15 And over every high tower, and over every fortified wall;16 And over all the ships of Tharshish; and over all desirable palaces.17 And the pride of man shall be bent down, and the haughtiness of men shall be humbled: and exalted shall be the Lord alone on that day.18 And the idols will he utterly abolish.19 And men shall enter into the caverns of rocks, and into the rifts of the earth, because of the dread of the Lord, and because of the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to terrify the earth.20 On that day shall a man cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which have been made for him to worship, to the moles and to the bats;21 To enter into the clefts of the rocks, and into the hollows of the cliffs, because of the dread of the Lord, and because of the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to terrify the earth.22 Withdraw yourselves then from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; because, for what is he to be esteemed?
