1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.2 Day to day utters speech, and night to night shows knowledge.3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun,5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit to the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.10 More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.11 Moreover by them is your servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse you me from secret faults.13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici I CIELI raccontano la gloria di Dio; E la distesa annunzia l’opera delle sue mani.2 Un giorno dietro all’altro quelli sgorgano parole; Una notte dietro all’altra dichiarano scienza.3 Non hanno favella, nè parole; La lor voce non si ode;4 Ma la lor linea esce fuori per tutta la terra, E le lor parole vanno infino all’estremità del mondo. Iddio ha posto in essi un tabernacolo al sole;5 Ed egli esce fuori, come uno sposo dalla sua camera di nozze; Egli gioisce, come un uomo prode a correr l’aringo.6 La sua uscita è da una estremità de’ cieli, E il suo giro arriva infino all’altra estremità; E niente è nascosto al suo calore7 La Legge del Signore è perfetta, ella ristora l’anima; La testimonianza del Signore è verace, e rende savio il semplice.8 Gli statuti del Signore son diritti, e rallegrano il cuore; Il comandamento del Signore è puro, ed illumina gli occhi.9 Il timor del Signore è puro, e dimora in eterno; I giudicii del Signore son verità, tutti quanti son giusti;10 Sono più desiderabili che oro, anzi più che gran quantità d’oro finissimo; E più dolci che miele, anzi che quello che stilla da’ favi.11 Il tuo servitore è eziandio avvisato per essi; Vi è gran mercede in osservarli.12 Chi conosce i suoi errori? Purgami di quelli che mi sono occulti.13 Rattieni eziandio il tuo servitore dalle superbie, E fa’ che non signoreggino in me; Allora io sarò intiero, e purgato di gran misfatto.14 Sieno grate nel tuo cospetto le parole della mia bocca, E la meditazione del cuor mio, O Signore, mia Rocca, e mio Redentore
