1 Truly my soul waits on God: from him comes my salvation.2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.3 How long will you imagine mischief against a man? you shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall you be, and as a tottering fence.4 They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.5 My soul, wait you only on God; for my expectation is from him.6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.8 Trust in him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.9 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart on them.11 God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God.12 Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: for you render to every man according to his work.

L’ANIMA mia si acqueta in Dio solo; Da lui procede la mia salute.2 Egli solo è la mia rocca e la mia salvezza, Il mio alto ricetto; io non sarò giammai grandemente smosso.3 Infino a quando vi avventerete sopra un uomo? Voi stessi sarete uccisi tutti quanti; E sarete simili ad una parete chinata, E ad un muricciuolo sospinto.4 Essi non consigliano d’altro che di sospinger giù quest’uomo dalla sua altezza; Prendono piacere in menzogna; Benedicono colla lor bocca, Ma maledicono nel loro interiore. Sela.9 Gli uomini volgari non sono altro che vanità, E i nobili altro che menzogna; Se fosser messi in bilance, Tutti insieme sarebbero più leggieri che la vanità stessa.10 Non vi confidate in oppressione, Nè in rapina; non datevi alla vanità; Se le ricchezze abbondano, Non vi mettete il cuore.11 Iddio ha parlato una volta, E due volte ho udito lo stesso; Che ogni forza appartiene a Dio;12 E che a te, Signore, appartiene la benignità; Perciocchè tu renderai la retribuzione a ciascuno secondo le sue opere
